Tiantangding|the Highest Mountain in GZ
Tiantangding(天堂顶), located in Conghua district, is the highest mountain in Guangzhou of 1210 m.
We walked around 4 kms along a village until the drifting spot as starting point. With all those ups, it's a little difficult to catch the breath at the very beginning.
But after a few inclines and rest of 2.5 hours, we arrived the second peak of Tiantangding- Hongziling(猴子岭🐒Ridge🙊), where we began being able to enjoy an open view of the ridges of the mountain group, as well as some azalea😍😘
Another 1 hour hike, will arrive the peak, where is kinda empty except there is a board with the height and name of Tiantangding. But the view of ridges after ridges is stunning. Walk around 20 meter, there is a quite good view of the ridges for photos. But if you wanna sit on the rock for an awesome pic, do watch out📢📢
Another attractive point of this trail is the latter part~ the paved road surrounded by bamboos, really brings me peace and relaxation. What can we ask for more from nature?!
Tips:
1⃣ Bring enough water and food as there is no supply at all along the way.
2⃣ No shade or shelter on the peak, prepare a hat or umbrella with you.
3⃣ Bring hiking your sticks.
4⃣ There are lots farm restaurants with local dishes. Suggested to have dinner before heading back.
🕰 1.5 hour drive from Guangzhou downtown
🏞 15 km
⏰ 6 hours, but depending on your pace

Climb to the top of Tiantang Peak, the highest peak in Guangzhou.
Enjoy a beautiful hiking trail without leaving Guangzhou.
📍Tiantang Peak, the highest peak in Guangzhou!
Located in Shimen National Forest Park in Conghua District,
it is 1,210 meters above sea level and the highest peak in Guangzhou.
I would call it the "Oasis on the Tropic of Cancer".
If you are lucky, you can see the sunrise, forest, and sea of clouds from the top.
You can also enjoy a bird's eye view of the Liuxi River and Nankun Mountain.

This route connects Tiantang Peak - Burn Ridge - Baishuizhai, with two exit points along the way and a supply point (after descending from Tiantang Peak). The entire journey takes a long time, so it is not recommended for beginners. It requires long-distance experience, and it is recommended to carry more than 2.5 liters of water. There is parking at the starting point, costing 10 yuan per night. There are restaurants and shops for supplies.
It is not recommended to hike this route in bad weather. Lighting tools and trekking poles are needed. The ascent to Tiantang Peak is steep but the road conditions are good. Burn Ridge requires passing through bamboo forests. The wild road in Baishuizhai is quite primitive and less traveled, with beehives and snakes. The descent is via steps, requiring walking down 4099 steps to exit the scenic area.
Travel Tips
It is not recommended for beginners to go alone. It is better to go with companions because the road conditions are quite complex, involving primitive forests and water crossings.
Restrooms: None
Water: Bring enough, about 2L
Shoes: Wear shoes with good grip
Clothes: Bring a set of spare clothes because there are water crossings and the rocks are quite slippery
It is recommended to bring gloves for easier climbing
