Koh Larn 2024: A Must-Visit Destination for Relaxation
Travel
Traveling to Koh Larn is easy and convenient. Starting from Bangkok, you can take a van or drive to Pattaya, which takes only 2-3 hours. Then, take a ferry from Bali Hai Pier, which takes about 30-45 minutes. Alternatively, for more convenience and speed, you can opt for a speedboat service.
Accommodation
Koh Larn offers a variety of accommodation options, from luxurious seaside resorts to cute bungalows and friendly homestays. We chose to stay at X Resort, which features minimalist-style rooms with stunning sea views. You can watch the sunrise right from your room in the morning.
Beaches and Sea
Koh Larn has several beaches, each with its unique charm:
1. Tawaen Beach: A popular beach filled with shops and water activities like banana boats and parasailing. Despite the crowds, the sea is clear enough to see the fish swimming.
2. Samae Beach: Ideal for those who prefer tranquility, with a serene and natural atmosphere.
3. Nual Beach: A hidden gem with fine white sand and emerald green water, less crowded.
4. Tien Beach: Known for its beautiful coral reefs, perfect for snorkeling and observing small fish.
Activities
Koh Larn offers a variety of activities. Start your day by riding a motorcycle around the island to explore various viewpoints, such as Khao Nom Viewpoint, where you can see expansive views of the island and the sea. If you love photography, don't miss the wooden bridge at Tien Beach, a popular photo spot.
Other interesting activities include snorkeling to see coral reefs, fishing in the open sea, or simply relaxing at a seaside café like Café Del Mar, which serves fresh seafood and drinks.
Food and Dining
A must-try on Koh Larn is the fresh seafood. We dined at Krua Chaliang Lom, which serves fresh seafood in a beachfront setting. Recommended dishes include grilled prawns, butter-grilled scallops, and sun-dried squid, all enhanced by spicy seafood dipping sauce.
Additionally, there are many food stalls and restaurants offering various snacks and meals, such as som tam (papaya salad), grilled chicken, or crepes at the Koh Larn night market in the evening.
Overall Atmosphere
Koh Larn is a perfect place for relaxation, with its clear sea, beautiful beaches, and peaceful atmosphere. At the same time, it offers all necessary amenities, including shops, restaurants, and cafés.
Visiting Koh Larn feels like escaping the hustle and bustle of the big city to relax in nature. Even a short trip of 2 days and 1 night can leave you feeling recharged.
Tips
1. Book your accommodation in advance, especially during long holidays, as places fill up quickly.
2. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, as the sun on Koh Larn can be quite strong.
3. For tranquility, visit beaches farther from the town, such as Nual Beach or Tien Beach.
4. If you have time, visit the morning market on the island to experience the local way of life.
