🇯🇵 Todai-Ji Temple
A lovely temple to visit and the views there are amazing. In the temple, they also have a tree hole for you to pass through. It is supposed to be the nostrils of the Buddha and if you can pass through then you will be able to seek enlightenment in your next life. This tree hole is pretty small and children can pass through easily. If you do a search, Todai-Ji temple will appear among the top hits for awesome views in Nara. Many years back, I would bring along my camera. Time fast forward and my phone camera can take nicer photos too. Bring whatever is suitable for you and make sure you have enough memories to capture everything at Todai-Ji temple.
Japan reopened on 11 Oct and I will be there berry soon!

Toudaiji temple, established in 752 during the Nara period, stands as a testament to Japan's profound religious heritage. Dedicated to the spread of Buddhism, it was constructed under Emperor Shomu's patronage, reflecting the era's religious and political significance. The temple's profound history is evident in its enduring structures, which have witnessed the rise and fall of various dynasties, adding layers of cultural richness. Among the bustling herds of Sika deer that freely roam the temple grounds, they are seen as divine messengers, echoing the ancient reverence for these graceful creatures. However, their playful yet assertive nature is often experienced by visitors, as they eagerly approach anyone holding the iconic deer rice crackers, revealing a charming yet mischievous side as I am one of the victims who felt to their assault. The architectural wonders within the temple complex showcase a blend of traditional Japanese and Tang Dynasty Chinese styles, providing a glimpse into the cross-cultural influences prevalent during the Nara period. The grandeur of the colossal Great Buddha statue, a remarkable feat of engineering and devotion, leaves an indelible impression, exuding a sense of awe and spirituality. The knowledgeable and witty guide's anecdotes about the temple's past, cultural significance, and the intriguing legends surrounding the deer undoubtedly infuse the tour with a delightful charm, adding a touch of warmth and humor to the ancient sanctuary.

The Majestic Todaiji Temple in Nara
#wecreate
I was blown away when I visited the todaiji temple in Nara, Japan. The Todaiji temple entrance has deers from Nara park roaming freely in front of it. Walk pass the entrance and you will see the beautiful Buddhist temple. The details and the historical design of the temple transports you to ancient Japan. Inside Todaiji, you will be amazed again by how big this temple really is. The giant bronze or gold like Buddha and other statues were magnificent looking and it makes you feel so small standing under these structures. You will feel a sense of zen and peacefulness here in this temple and I love awesome this temple is. Do visit Todaiji and be blown away like me.

TodaiJi Shrine - Nara
#passionpassport
When completed in the 740s, Todai-ji was the largest building project ever on Japanese soil. Its creation reflects the complex intermingling of Buddhism and politics in early Japan. When it was rebuilt in the 12th century, it ushered in a new era of Shoguns and helped to found Japan’s most celebrated school of sculpture. The roots of Todai-ji are found in the arrival of Buddhism in Japan in the 6th century. Buddhism made its way from India along the Silk Route through Central Asia, China and Korea. Buddhism quickly became associated with the Imperial court whose members became the patrons of early Buddhist art and architecture. #todaiji #visitjapan #kyoto #nara
