Cambridge Calling!!!
Visiting the University of Cambridge was like stepping into a time capsule that effortlessly transported me to a bygone era of intellectual grandeur. From the moment I set foot on its hallowed grounds, I was awestruck by the sheer magnificence of the architecture, the tranquil beauty of the gardens, and the palpable sense of knowledge that permeated the atmosphere.
As I strolled along the cobbled streets, I couldn't help but feel a sense of reverence for the countless scholars who had once walked these same paths. The iconic colleges, each with its own distinct charm, stood tall as guardians of centuries of academic excellence. From the imposing King's College Chapel to the picturesque St John's College Bridge, every corner of Cambridge seemed to hold a story waiting to be unraveled.
But it wasn't just the architectural marvels that left me spellbound. The university's rich history came alive through the knowledgeable guides who enthusiastically shared anecdotes about famous alumni like Isaac Newton and Stephen Hawking. Their passion for the subject matter ignited my own curiosity, making me yearn to delve deeper into the world of academia.
Despite its prestigious reputation, Cambridge exudes a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The vibrant student community buzzing with energy, the cozy cafes tucked away in narrow alleys, and the sprawling meadows perfect for picnics all contributed to a sense of belonging. It felt like a place where intellectual pursuits were not confined to the lecture halls but were integrated seamlessly into everyday life.
A highlight of my visit was punting on the River Cam, an experience that epitomized the leisurely charm of Cambridge. Gliding along the serene waterway, I marveled at the idyllic scenery and reveled in the tranquility that enveloped me. It was a chance to appreciate the city from a different perspective and soak in the enchanting beauty that inspired countless artists, poets, and thinkers throughout history.
Whether you're an academic enthusiast, a history buff, or simply someone looking to immerse themselves in the magic of Cambridge, this university offers an unforgettable experience. It is a place where tradition meets innovation, where ancient wisdom coexists with modern ideas, and where the pursuit of knowledge knows no bounds. Day trip from London to Cambridge❤️
If you want to explore nearby places in London, then try to visit Cambridge! I guess it’s just only 2 hrs away from London. The buildings were quite old but well maintained! I love how people take care of these. It’s not just about the infrastructures but they are also trying to preserve the history within.
Don’t forget to include punting on your list!
It’s a must try, I swear! #cambridge #punting #boat

Cambridge a city with much surprises
Just over an hour by train north from London you will find the university town of Cambridge. The name derived from the river Cam that passes through the town and colleges that are Cambridge university. Each college different and founded between 1500 and 1800 after an Oxford graduate fled to Cambridge after murdering someone.
Most of the grounds remain private so a trip by boat, or punt, is the best way to see the grounds from the river.
The town has many chinese restaurants given the many Chinese visitors looking for the bridge and inscription of Xu Zhimo who lived in Cambridge for a few years studing at Kings College and whoms romantic poems described his life and finally leaving either Cambridge or his love behind.

We love going to Cambridge for a day trip from London.
It's a short (relatively short) train journey away and is great when we don't know what to do on the weekend :)
We tend to bring friends and family there when they come to visit.
The town is really pretty, lots of students (as you can imagine) live there and the atmosphere is nice and lively. Would recommend.

This trip to the UK, Cambridge is a must-have place. When I was young, I knew Cambridge because of Newton, and because of Byron and Russell. Of course, the most profound is the Cambridge IELTS book.

Cambridge rafting can't be missed. There are two ways: 1. Plan your own, up to 5-6 people, row your own boat, the price is about 24 pounds a boat, and people are more cost-effective. 2. There is a small brother rowing, the price is about 17 pounds a person, you can listen to some explanations, we two people choose this.

The establishment of Oxford University, the oldest university in the UK, attracted scholars from all walks of life. Later, the number of scholars has completely exceeded the conditions at that time. The contradictions between the aborigines and scholars have intensified and finally put into force conflict. After that, some scholars came to Cambridge and established the earliest Cambridge University.
Cambridge University adopts a college system, and each college maintains a high degree of independence in academic, economic, and management, which also promotes endless competition among colleges, more than academic level, international honor, number of Nobel Prizes, etc. On the one hand, the college hopes to improve its own strength. On the one hand, teachers and students hope for better treatment. So today, this kind of competition has involved all fields, and it is more beautiful than architecture, more spacious than the auditorium, and even more than anyone else. One of the dead families is the famous St. John's College and the Trinity College. The former has William Wordsworth (the poet of the lake), the latter has Newton and Byron; the former has the largest lawn, the latter. It has covered the tallest building... In short, such a struggle has been going on for hundreds of years.

I explored archaeology in Cambridge: A journey encountering Li Ka-shing.
📍 Address: Downing Street, Cambridge CB2 3DZ
🏛️ In the academic city of Cambridge, my solo exploration led me to the **Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology** at the University of Cambridge.
🔎 Stepping into this history-filled museum, I not only conversed with ancient civilizations but also unexpectedly encountered the legendary Hong Kong figure, Li Ka-shing, here. The museum includes the following sections: Ancient Egypt, British Archaeology, South American Cultures, Pacific Arts, and the Cultural Connections section sponsored by Li Ka-shing, offering visitors a deep understanding of the diversity of human history.
📸 Inside the museum, the mummies of Ancient Egypt and the artifacts of the Inca from South America intertwined, seemingly transporting me back to a distant past. Each exhibit has its unique story, allowing me to savor the evolution and cultural fusion of humanity. As I was immersed in these historical treasures, I suddenly saw the name of Mr. Li Ka-shing. His sponsorship of this temporary exhibition made me feel immensely proud. As a Hong Konger, seeing this name in such a renowned museum filled me with a sense of pride.
⛲️ This solo trip not only allowed me to appreciate human history but also made me reflect on my cultural roots. The interactive sections of the museum enabled me to participate personally and feel the charm of history. As I concluded this exploration, I left the museum with a wealth of knowledge and insights, filled with reverence and appreciation for culture. Every corner of Cambridge holds surprises for exploration, and this solo journey undoubtedly made me cherish my cultural connections even more.

I came quietly, just as I left quietly~~King's College, Cambridge University.
King's College, whose history can be traced back to the generous founding of King Henry VI, is named after the "King."
Upon entering the college, the first thing you see is King's College Chapel, whose Gothic architectural style demonstrates the splendor and sophistication of the Middle Ages. Inside the chapel, a magnificent wooden altar screen stands, not only serving as a space divider but also as a perfect combination of art and faith. The rose window on the top floor attracts countless eyes with its exquisite design.
Passing through the chapel, a wide courtyard unfolds before you, with the lawn and the River Cam complementing each other. By the bridge, a stone tablet with Xu Zhimo's poem stands quietly, inscribed with the classic verses from "Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again," making one feel as if they can sense Xu Zhimo's literary inspiration and emotional expression when he studied here.

2024 UK Trip (1): Exploring Cambridge.
Founded in 1209, the University of Cambridge is one of the oldest and most famous universities in the world. The University of Cambridge is composed of 31 autonomous colleges, each with its own buildings, churches, and libraries.
You may be more familiar with another name for Cambridge, which is Kangqiao. The poet Xu Zhimo was a visiting scholar at King's College, Cambridge. His poem "Saying Goodbye to Cambridge Again" made many people know Cambridge for the first time and yearn for it.
King's College was founded by Henry VI in 1441 and was built with the support of many kings.
King's College Chapel is a prominent building in Cambridge. The exterior is a magnificent and complicated Gothic architectural style, and the decorations are all Tudor family crest decorations.
The back lawn of the college is full of greenery, refreshing, and the sun is shining.
On the other side of the lawn, across the King's Bridge, is the "Xu Zhimo Monument". There are British-style boatmen on the Cam River, as well as ducks and geese.
Opposite the gate of King's College, there is a large sculpture clock, Corpus Clock, also called Grasshopper Clock. The Corpus Clock was conceived and funded by John C. Taylor, and Stephen Hawking unveiled it. It was listed as one of the best inventions of 2008 by Time Magazine.
Trinity College was established by Henry VIII in 1546. Trinity means the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity. Trinity College is the largest, most famous, and wealthiest college in Cambridge.
At the entrance of the college, there is the Newton's apple tree.
St. John's College was established in 1511 and is known for the diversity of its buildings.
Officially, the name of this bridge is just "Wooden Bridge", but its design contains a lot of mathematical mysteries.
The arrangement of the wooden strips forms an arc to support the bridge, plus other transverse parts, forming a triangular structure to fix the bridge. The structure here effectively uses wood without wasting it, and at the same time borrows the common arch design of stone bridges to consolidate its structure.
There is also a legend that the design of the Mathematical Bridge (weight and angle) is very precise and does not require any nails. A professor was amazed when he saw the bridge, so he dismantled the bridge in order to understand the design of the bridge. But after the bridge was dismantled, there was no way to rebuild the bridge with the original design, so he had to use nails to fix the key joints and rebuild the bridge.
The Fitzwilliam Museum and the Polar Museum have a wealth of collections, which are dazzling and amazing!
There are many cafes on the street. When you are tired, you can find a leisurely place to have afternoon tea. The famous Eagle Bar, famous for Watson and Crick's discovery of DNA, is in the alley diagonally opposite King's College.

Strolling around Cambridge University (4).
King's College is one of the most famous colleges in Cambridge. It was founded in 1441 by the then King of England, Henry VI, hence the name "King's College". In order to highlight the king's wealth and ambition, the college pursued grandeur and spectacle from the beginning. The most famous building in the college is the King's College Chapel. Its towering spire has become a symbol of Cambridge. Everyone who comes to Cambridge wants to follow its figure and find long-lost stories from the dust of history.

Stroll around Cambridge University (1).
Cambridge is located in Cambridgeshire, 50 miles north of London. It is a small English town with a population of 100,000. The River Cam flows through the town. Cambridge University itself does not have a fixed campus, no walls, and no school signs. More than 30 colleges and research institutes are built on both banks of the River Cam and various points in the town. Walking around, you can see all the ancient and vicissitudes of the century-old buildings, with pointed roofs and typical Gothic halls, which are breathtaking.

Cradle of human dreams, global innovation hub of Cambridge
Cambridge is the capital of Cambridgeshire, UK, and is world-renowned for the University of Cambridge. Founded in 1209, the University of Cambridge is one of the oldest universities in the world. With a history of over 800 years, Cambridge is a sanctuary of academia, with its 31 colleges standing solemn and sacred. The legend of Newton and the apple, and the poetic musings of Byron resonate here.
I remember coming in October 2009, it was raining and very cold. This time, I was fortunate to catch a sunny day. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the ancient buildings and natural beauty blend together, highlighting the leisurely life of Cambridge students.
Cambridge is a cradle of dreams, attracting countless students from around the world, and it is also a place of innovation, leading the trends of the times.
Famous attractions in Cambridge include: the most magnificent and largest King's College, Trinity College where Newton graduated and where the apple tree of his gravitational discovery stands, St. Mary's Church, St. John's College, and the Bridge of Sighs. Additionally, there is the Eagle Pub, where it is said that two Cambridge scientists first proposed the DNA theory over drinks, giving rise to the name of DAN beer. Unfortunately, due to a tight schedule this time, I didn't have the chance to take a boat tour on the River Cam and admire the quaint and unique bridges along the way.

The literary Cambridge, the local Cambridge Market
Cambridge University is a university without walls, nestled among its colleges are numerous cafes, bookstores, and creative boutiques, brimming with the hustle and bustle of life, especially the Cambridge Market (Cambridge Market) in the open square, which is very lively—here, there's even a Chinese jianbing guozi (crepe) stall!
Cambridge Market is located in an open square, not very large in size, with various stalls set up in the open air, closely packed together, surrounded by dormitory areas and various shops, and next to it stands the Great St Mary's Church and Cambridge Town Hall, both built in 1205. In the middle of the market, there is also a Gothic-style fountain pool ruin—the fountain was built in the 19th century and was unfortunately destroyed, leaving only part of its base.
The stalls at the Cambridge Market are rich and colorful, with fruits and vegetables, gourmet snacks, second-hand books, clothing, and all kinds of souvenirs. Of course, the specialty snacks from around the world are the stars here, with the air filled with the aroma of various delicacies, hot dogs, bread, seafood rice... The stall that attracts Chinese tourists the most is naturally the jianbing guozi stall, run by a Chinese couple who also sell hot dry noodles. Students from Cambridge University, local residents, and tourists coming and going shuttle back and forth here, enjoying their food to the fullest, creating a bustling atmosphere.
The area around the market is also lively, with an uncle playing the violin on a tightrope in mid-air, and young people busking with guitars, all showcasing their talents, while the onlookers applaud and cheer from time to time, bringing a fresh and lively vibe to this artistic university town.
