Quest Journey
Wangfujing
Strolling Wangfujing from the not so visited side gives you a chance to see a whole different view of it.
Venture to this massive pedestrian street and you’ll find yourself a bit in Europe, a bit in New York.
Just a bock after the shopping malls there’s the church and the main crossing that reminds me of New York.
Discovered it by chance as scooters are not allowed on Chang An avenue.
It made a great discovery!

Red is in the air
The Spring Festival is a great time to experience the traditional Chinese atmosphere. If you are in Beijing, have already visited the main attractions, walked around the hutongs, then you can still go to 5-star hotels. There are beautiful red decorations in the lobby, you can admire the art and take some photos. If you are on Wangfujin Road, then you have about 6 hotels. No need to take a taxi, you can walk this distance from hotel to hotel on foot. And if it's cold, you can have a cup of coffee in the lobby of one of the hotels. My list:
1. The Regent Beijing
2. Legendale hotel
3. The Peninsula
4. Waldorf Astoria Beijing
5. Hilton
6. Grand Hyatt at Oriental Plaza
You can easily find all hotels on the map by name.

Beijing’s Wangfujing street one early evening in January 2020 in the course of the covid19 outbreak during the Chinese new year’s holiday. Normally the various stores and shopping malls are open and pedestrians crowd the bright and vibrant street steaming with various aromas. However the stillness I experienced there that evening is memorable. No images nor words can capture that. However, no matter the season, time of day, or circumstance, Wangfujing street always has something of beauty and value to offer it’s diverse visitors. St. Joseph’s Church with it’s fusion of Romanesque and Chinese architectural styles poses as a surprise. And while at it, you may not want to miss Wangfujing Bookstore. On the one hand, it is a dreamworld for the book lover, and on the other, there is more to it for you to discover.

If you are travelling to Beijing, do list down St. Joseph's Church as one of your stopover. St. Joseph's Church, also known as the Wangfujing Catholic Church, is a stunning historical landmark located in the heart of Beijing. Built in 1655, it is one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the city. The church's Romanesque architecture, featuring graceful arches and intricate stone carvings, offers a striking contrast to the bustling Wangfujing shopping district surrounding it.
Visitors are drawn to the peaceful atmosphere and the well-preserved exterior of the church, which has withstood centuries of change. The interior is equally impressive, with its high ceilings, stained glass windows and tranquil ambience perfect for reflection.
The church is an active place of worship, hosting regular masses for the local Catholic Community, but it's also a popular stop for tourists interested in history and architecture. St. Joseph's Church is a must-visit for those exploring the cultural and religious heritage of Beijing.

Wangfujing's average 90r Italian pasta three-course lunch, personally tested and super value! .
🍝 and the same like pasta sisters meet, together to check in Wangfujing near Jinbao Street behind the moss bistro.
🍝 working day lunch package 90 more, convenient transportation and good environment, the nearby workers are blessed. We each ordered a package to share.
The appetizer [poached egg roasted cauliflower] poke the moment of the poached egg is very decompression, with fried mushrooms is very fragrant. [Roasted cauliflower] is Western seasoning, but it tastes like Chinese food.
[Traditional slow-cooked beef sauce noodles] wide noodles with rich sauce, thick wide noodles are really yyds! [Mixed seafood pasta] seafood is full of seasoning super love, sauce with bread is even better.
When I went, the third course of the package was dessert and now it's changed to drinks! Drinks are not bad! Check in and get ice cream, isn't that dessert?
🍝 in this area of the Western lunch package is not over a hundred, carbohydrates, protein, vegetables are guaranteed, recommended to friends nearby. There are many other packages to choose from!

Beijing!! Next to the Forbidden City!! I cried when I checked out.
Don't miss this courtyard if you're in Beijing!
1. A Ming Dynasty courtyard full of history
Once home to Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang, this Ming Dynasty courtyard has been passed down to the present day. It not only retains a strong historical atmosphere, but also perfectly blends with modern civilization. The house is fully equipped with smart home appliances and facilities.
2. Great location and easy to find
Located in Dengcao Hutong in the center of Beijing, it is a three-entry courtyard. The transportation is very convenient. You can walk to the subway station of Line 5/6 and go directly to various attractions. You can walk to Wangfujing, and it takes only ten minutes to ride to the Forbidden City in Beijing.
3. The hostess is very considerate
Breakfast is served at 7:30. The Chinese breakfast is very delicious. Even if I like to sleep in, I feel super happy to have breakfast here. There are QR codes in many places in the courtyard to explain the cultural and historical stories about this place.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to experience the unique charm of Beijing's Wangfujing Street firsthand. This street is not only Beijing's commercial center but also a tourist destination that combines history, culture, and fashion.
Firstly, Wangfujing Street has a long history that dates back to the early 20th century. It was once the most bustling commercial area in Beijing, gathering various high-end foreign firms, shopping malls, and entertainment venues. Even after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Wangfujing Department Store remained a national focal point, attracting a large number of customers. In those days, Wangfujing Street was a microcosm of Beijing, witnessing the rise and prosperity of the republic.
Today, Wangfujing Street has undergone tremendous changes. With the upgrade in consumption, many flagship stores of internationally renowned brands have been introduced here, making it Beijing's most fashionable shopping paradise. Here, you can fully enjoy the fun of shopping, admire various avant-garde buildings and decorations, and feel the new charm of Beijing city.
Besides shopping, there are many cultural attractions worth exploring on Wangfujing Street. For example, the century-old Wangfujing Department Store is not only an architectural gem but also a living fossil witnessing the development of China's retail industry. Here, you can also visit various cultural and creative markets, appreciate ancient book restoration crafts, and feel the rich literary atmosphere.
Moreover, Wangfujing Street has many special snacks. If you want to taste authentic Beijing flavors, this is definitely a good choice. From traditional roast duck to innovative snacks, there is something for everyone, offering your taste buds the richest feast.
In summary, Beijing Wangfujing Street is a tourist destination that integrates history, culture, and fashion. Whether it's shopping, food, or cultural exploration, it can meet all your needs. As a travel enthusiast, I sincerely recommend you come here to explore, and I believe you will be attracted by its unique charm.

Beijing surprisingly has such a Nordic-style neighborhood!
The area near Taijichang has a kind of European small romance.
Take your best friends for a city walk!
The sharpness of the church⛪️ roof and the red walls really give a dreamy feeling!
I like the sight of cars passing by,
and also the emptiness when there are no cars.

👍️Must-visit spot: Hanyinlou is the library of the Commercial Press during its Shanghai period, and its establishment can be traced back to 1904.
At that time, Zhang Yuanji, a figure of the Hundred Days' Reform and a Hanlin scholar, was in charge of the editing work at the Commercial Press. Frustrated by the lack of good rare books, he founded Hanyinlou, which means 'a place filled with the fragrance of rare books and knowledge'.
In 1909, it was officially named Hanyinlou. Hanyinlou started by collecting rare ancient books and then expanded to include both Chinese and foreign books. Whenever private collections were dispersed, Hanyinlou made every effort to acquire them. It also purchased new books published annually in Japan and Western countries. By 1924, Hanyinlou had a collection of 37,000 volumes of rare books and precious manuscripts, including twelve volumes of the nearly lost 'Yongle Encyclopedia'.

👍️Must-visit Attraction: The Commercial Press, the oldest publishing institution in China's publishing industry. Founded in Shanghai in 1897 and relocated to Beijing in 1954. It is known as the 'Twin Stars of Modern Chinese Culture' along with Peking University.
The establishment of the Commercial Press marked the beginning of modern publishing in China. Pioneers like Zhang Yuanji and Xia Ruifang laid a solid foundation for its development through their hard work.
Shortly after its establishment, the Commercial Press became a joint-stock company and successively invited a large number of outstanding talents such as Gao Mengdan and Wang Yunwu. They engaged in various businesses centered around publishing, rapidly expanding its strength. They compiled textbooks for primary, secondary, and tertiary schools, edited large reference books like 'Ciyuan,' translated Western academic classics such as 'Evolution' and 'The Wealth of Nations,' published literary works by renowned contemporary writers like Lu Xun, Ba Jin, Bing Xin, and Lao She, organized important ancient books like 'Sibu Congkan,' edited large series like 'Universal Library' and 'University Series,' and published numerous magazines across various fields such as 'Eastern Magazine,' 'Fiction Monthly,' and 'Nature.' Exploring the famous Wangfujing Pedestrian Street
#familytrips2024
I have been here once in 2018, and this year I am back again with my family. Wangfujing Pedestrian Street is a huge and wide street that only allows pedestrians, no cars are allowed to enter. The street is about 800 metres with stores, shopping malls and street vendors selling all kind of products.
Things are different now after the pandemic. This once a popular and prosperous street for shopaholics, especially high end brands are no longer as happening as before. We came on a normal weekday afternoon, and the whole street was so empty and quiet with no activities. Those street vendors that filled the street previously has now been replaced with food trucks instead. It is kinda disappointing.
But looking on the positive side, it's good for photography haha. We managed to take a lot of photos around with very less crowd photo bombing it, I think this is a rare opportunity too.
The malls are also very quiet and empty, many lots are vacant and I think more local brands moved in to replaced those international brands. Restaurants are filled with those working nearby as there were no tourists during my time of visit.
Somehow, St. Joseph Church which is located at this street is still as charming as it is. With less visitors and quiet surroundings, the church turns out to be more approachable. The younger generation even took the opportunity to use the beautiful architecture to create some video content.
Hopefully the local authority could do something to hype up the street again, else it will be such a waste.

It's not Europe, it's Beijing! A Midsummer Night's Dream so beautiful it takes it to the next level
Beijing Wangfujing Central Environment is absolutely stunning!
A mountain of hydrangea flowers has been built on flat ground
A free Monet garden, Beijing's Midsummer Night's Dream is a mountain full of blue hydrangeas
The foreground features French minimalist tables and chairs, the midground a mountain of pink and blue hydrangeas, and the background traditional Beijing courtyards, beautiful to the next level!
Photo-taking is recommended in the morning, as the afternoon might have some backlight, but the overall atmosphere is still great. You can take photos from all around the hydrangea mountain, not necessarily just from the front. The front requires queuing, but there are much fewer people on the sides and back.
Overall, there are far fewer people than at other attractions. I went there in the afternoon of May 3rd.
The hydrangea flowers are said to last until May 15th, and it seems that a new batch of fresh flowers will be updated later, so hurry up.
Specific location📍Wangfu Central Environment West Seat Grass Hall
It feels like Beijing's spring is fleeting, instantly turning into summer.
Next to it, Aesop is hosting an event in a courtyard house
It's also very photogenic, be sure to book one day in advance, otherwise, you won't be able to get in.
I didn't make a reservation and was turned away at the door.

The most beautiful and cleanest pedestrian street in Beijing
A big road surrounded by shops and malls where we can shop as much as we like with the money we have. The prices of the clothes offered are also quite expensive in my opinion. There is also a shop with various types of tea. This pedestrian area is quite clean and seems to be neatly arranged. This place is quite famous in Beijing and you must visit it when traveling to Beijing.
