Exploring Chiang Mai
Flight tickets from Bangkok to Chiang Mai are less than 1,000 baht. Once you grab a ticket, you're ready to go!
A taxi from the airport costs only 87 baht. I checked into a hotel near Nimman that has a swimming pool and a gym. No deposit is required, and it's a very comfortable place to stay.
Taking a motorbike to the Old City costs just 40 baht. I always enjoy walking around the Old City, getting massages, and trying delicious food. While strolling, I often come across fruit stalls. A portion of fruit costs 20 baht. I bought watermelon and cantaloupe for only 40 baht—fresh and tasty!
As I walk, I admire the majestic and beautiful temples. There's always a serene atmosphere in this ancient city. The people living here seem so simple and kind-hearted. I really love this vibe.
At Warorot Market, you can always find seasonal fruits. This time, I saw some vibrant lychees and couldn't resist buying them. They were sweet and tangy—absolutely delicious! Pure happiness.

Waworot Market in Chiang Mai at night
Warorot Market in Chiang Mai at night on 18 May is not too hot to walk. There are quite many stalls selling fruits, snacks, caps, socks, T shirts, clothes, slippers, souvenirs and other regular stuff we see in any market.

Chiang Mai's most fragrant and cheapest market, once you go there, you don't need to go to any other markets.
This Warorot Market was brought by the locals, just go straight out of the east gate of the ancient city and you will be there in no time. The area is very large, with two main indoor buildings like a small commodity market, and other shops are scattered, but they all belong to Warorot. The prices are very affordable, and almost all the markets in Chiang Mai are estimated to purchase goods here.
🚗🚗
Self-driving:
Not recommended to drive there. Although there is a large multi-story parking lot in the market, the market is very big. If you have to come back to find your car after shopping, you will really be overwhelmed. Therefore, it is recommended to take a taxi directly and take a taxi wherever you go.
🍛🍛🍚
Dining:
There are some snack carts nearby, selling soup noodles, green papaya salad, soda and fruits. The main market has a food court on the first floor, which also sells these items, but it's much more comfortable to sit there.
💰💰
What to buy:
In the market, everything is available and basically formed into rows and markets. For example, those who sell spices are almost always together, as are those who sell bamboo weaving crafts. The prices are almost the same. Thai people do business very honestly, and bargaining ranges from 10-50 baht. Those who have more almost never succeed.
🕒🕒
Opening hours:
After 9 o'clock in the morning, the stores will open one after another, some selling breakfast earlier and some later. They will close around 4 or 5 in the afternoon.
🔺
tips:
Next to it is a flower and fruit market, where prices are also very cheap. Those living in Chiang Mai can often come here to buy flowers.

Rustic Feel in Chiang Mai Chinatown
Whenever you are in a city, you will always find closeness to your home when you managed to find a community that has similar culture to yours. Warorot Market is one that holds such feelings for asian Chinese. At this place, you will find many bargains and ingredients for Chinese cooking. You will also find Guan Yu Temple (I believe Hong Konger term it as God of Justice). Take time to immerse yourself in the wonderful community.#chinatown
