The stone Buddha Head In The Tree
#travellerswonderland
I took the train from Bangkok to Ayutthaya. It was neither fast nor slow, but relaxing. It took more than an hour to reach this quiet little town.
The train station is some distance away from the city. I called a Tuk, negotiated the price with the driver, and got an ideal price. Then I got on the train and went directly to the hotel.
The next day, I went to appreciate the famous stone Buddha head in the tree on the Internet. In fact, it is the original temple, but it has a new beauty over time. The whole temple is very similar to the style of Angkor Wat. It is very shocking. Especially the stone Buddha head in the tree to tour the scenery, and there are all kinds of snacks in the night market food street. It is a very warm place.

Wat Mahathat, the temple famous for the Buddha head in the tree roots
Anyone visiting Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya must stop by here. It is one of the ancient sites in the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a popular tourist destination for both Thais and foreigners. Especially notable is the Buddha head that has fallen and become entwined in the roots of a Bodhi tree, a unique feature that everyone must photograph and check-in. Visitors can also admire the only octagonal chedi in Ayutthaya and pay respects to the main prang for good fortune in life.

Divine Encounter: The Sacred Buddha Head Entwined in Banyan Roots
Early in the morning, we visited Wat Mahathat. The peaceful and serene atmosphere was complemented by the famous Buddha tree, where the Buddha's head is entwined within the roots of a banyan tree.
The grounds of Wat Mahathat are filled with the ruins of chedis, prangs, and numerous Buddha statues, reflecting the grandeur of Ayutthaya's past.
Wat Mahathat played a crucial role in the religious and political life of the Ayutthaya Kingdom until it was heavily damaged during the Burmese invasion in 1767. Today, it stands as a poignant reminder of the city's former glory and a peaceful place for visitors to reflect on Thailand's rich history.

This time i visited Ayutthaya Area, and i came to One Of The Most Sacred Temple in this area: Wat Maha That. Wat Maha That is a restored ruin of a Buddhist monastery located on the city island in the Historical Park of Ayutthaya in Tha Wasukri sub-district.
Wat Mahathat was one of Ayutthaya's most important temples. It enshrined Buddha relics and was the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of Buddhism and thus the center of Buddhism in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Wat Mahathat was a Royal monastery and this place is close to the palace.
This place is one of the most important temples in Ayutthaya, Wat Mahathat is also famous for the tree that has grown around a sculpture of Buddha's head. Wat Phra Mahathat is open from 7.00 am-5.00 pm, Wednesdays through Sundays.

One-day trip to Ayutthaya ~ serving as a guide for relatives who come from China.
* . 🚀 . I went to Ayutthaya after a long time and I have to thank my Chinese relatives who searched for tourist attractions and took me there within that night. They said, "I want to come here (here refers to all the temples in Ayutthaya)." So, we had to change our plans abruptly. At first, we were going to visit the temples around Ratchaburi , but then we separated from other relatives and went on our own. We took our relatives to visit the old city instead (亲人 qīnrén means relatives). Please pray for my little sister, lol. 5555555
♡ We traveled by private car from home (van) and it was an Oneday tour! It's not an illegal tour, lol. We even had a guide with us. 555555555 (just kidding, this was a private trip with family and we didn't receive any payment, so it doesn't count as income)
♡ The weather was so hot and humid when we arrived. It was raining heavily before we got there, but the rain stopped when we arrived. Then it turned into a scorching heat. However, our relatives were so determined and didn't care about the heat. They just kept walking and walking. We had to give up 😭. After we finished walking, we sat down and enjoyed some delicious durian (the durian was brought from home and just harvested from the orchard). But it was already afternoon by the time we finished walking. The trip was over!
🥑 Actually, we only went to visit the Mahathat temple. 555555 Because we didn't know if other relatives were Buddhist or not. Our relatives told us that they didn't worship the Buddha in the afternoon, so we stopped there. Then we went to Window shopping elsewhere.
* We left Ratchaburi at 8 am and arrived in Ayutthaya after 3 hours. We visited the temple, had lunch, went back to Bangkok, checked into the hotel, went shopping, and then watched the "Ladyboy Show (人妖表演 Rényāo biǎoyǎn)." Finally, we ended the day by going for a walk, drinking milk tea, having dinner, and returning to the hotel. It was a great day! ꈍ◡ꈍ

Prang View Cafe, Ayutthaya
If you are tired of walking around the trail, there are several cafes across from Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchaburana. Today we choosed one of the popular restaurant Prang View Cafe. Oh my! They served really good foods and drinks.
在遣跡走倦了,在Wat Mahathat 和 Wat Ratchaburana 的對面就有好幾間 cafe。 最後我們選了人氣餐廳 Prang View Cafe。 果然沒令人失望。

This place is amazing. You could spend hours looking through the ruins imagining what they would have been like originally.
There's also another entire section of temples across the road, behind where everyone else goes at the main tourist area, which is in fact more intact, and it's only a two minute walk to the next block, where there are no tourists at all.
This place is truly an amazing temple complex and it covers a very large area. It's located right next to one of the main streets of town, so easy to get a drink, meal or tuk-tuk nearby also. Entry to the main park is 10 baht.
As part of the Ayutthaya Historical Park, it is highly recommended to add this place to your list of places to visit in Thailand, and there's another eight or nine temple complexes within spitting distance! You could literally spend a week looking at them all.
It is only an hour and twenty minutes from Bangkok by taxi and expect to pay around 2,000 baht☺️
If you find a good English-speaking taxi driver, they'll even give you a guided tour and get you around town.

Wat Mahathat, Buddha's head in a tree @Ayutthaya
Wat Mahathat is located in the city of Ayutthaya. The highlight is the Buddha head that is over a hundred years old in the roots of a tree. The Buddha head is made of sandstone with only the head remaining. The body of the Buddha is missing. The head is placed in the Bodhi roots next to the chapel. It is believed that the head of the Buddha fell to the base of a tree during the fall of Ayutthaya until the roots covered it. This made this temple famous and well-known to both Thais and foreigners. Ancient structures in the temple
- A large prang, which has now completely collapsed.
- An octagonal pagoda, a four-tiered pagoda with 8 tiers. The top floor houses a small prang.
- A chapel at the base of the altar
- A medium-sized prang. Inside the prang, there are paintings of a glass house, which is a part of the life of the Buddha.
- The Palace of the Supreme Patriarch The empty area on the west side is where the Palace of the Supreme Patriarch is located. The Sri Lankan ambassador said that it was a palace carved with gold leaf patterns. There were gold-embroidered curtains. The floor was carpeted with rows of bottles decorated with flowers. The ceiling hung with a latticework.

The iconic photography site that draws most of the attention is the head of the Buddha image enveloped in the root of the Banyan Tree trunk. Visitors may see the detail design of the temple which is following the concept of the ancient Khmer style too😄.

Iconic Buddha Head In Tree Roots
Among the many interesting temples in this complex, Wat Phra Mahathat (Temple of the Great Relics) is one of temple that caught my attention the most. It turned out this temple is located almost in the middle of the Ayutthaya Historical Park island complex. And only in this temple we can see the very famous Buddha in an unusual pose. How did the Buddha head entwined within the roots of a tree? Nobody knows exactly. Perhaps the mystery and speculation is part of the fascination that draws all tourists who visit the temple each year.
FYI, to get to Ayutthaya you can directly buy tickets on the spot at Hua Lamphong Station (Bangkok Train Station)

Temple of Wonders
One of the most important temples in Ayutthaya is Wat Phra Mahathat. It’s once glorious temple but still glorious standing today imagining the colorful place this temple was before. History is very rich that you can feel the atmosphere of the place.
They said that the Buddha head is stolen by someone and forgotten that the bayan tree swallowed it and stays there for centuries. it’s like you the robbers cannot steal from them anymore....
Before I can only see the image of Buddha head in the tree roots on postcard, images on internet but now I see it and take my own photo of the Buddha.
Wonders in memory.

Wat Mahathat: Miraculous Ruins
#bangkoktrip
Mahathat Temple(Wat Mahathat) It is perhaps the most popular attraction in Ayutthaya. During the heyday of the city as the capital of the kingdom of the same name, it was the largest and most majestic.
This temple is famous for the Buddha's head, which is believed to be entangled and pulled out of the ground by the roots of a tree.
Wat Mahathat belongs to the early Ayutthaya period. According to the royal chronicles, its construction was started during the reign of King Boroma Ratchathirata in 1374 and completed under King Ramesuan. It was a royal temple and served as the home for the head of the Buddhist Sangha of the entire Ayutthaya kingdom.
The Buddha's head is today the hallmark of Wat Mahathat Temple.
It is located on the right side of the main entrance to the temple.
Today, none of the guides can say exactly where the Buddha's head came from, but there is one legend that is most popular:
When the Burmese army captured Ayutthaya in 1767, they cut off the heads of all the statues and took them with them. But one of the heads accidentally went unnoticed and was buried by local residents in the ground for preservation purposes. Over time, she was enveloped by the roots of the trees and pushed out by the almighty forces. Since then, this tree has been considered sacred, and the place is famous not only in this country, but all over the world.
Of course, almost every tourist wants to take a picture against the background of this statue.
After the Burmese invasion, the temple was not restored, so tourists can see the original objects built of thin burnt bricks.
This place is so gorgeous, even ruins impress very deeply. I recommend to spend more time and walk through this site without rush to feel the atmosphere.

Exploring the Ancient Ruins of Wat Mahathat in Ayutthaya
For those planning a trip to Bangkok, Thailand, many of you visit the Ayutthaya tour. I will write a review after visiting the ancient ruins of Wat Mahathat.
⏰ 8:00~18:30
📍 9H49+P85 Wat Mahathat, Naresuan Rd, Tha Wasukri, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya 13000 Thailand
The most famous spot in Wat Mahathat is where a tree wraps around a decapitated Buddha head.
Originally, Wat Mahathat was full of Buddha statues that held the marks of time and many meanings. However, most of the statues have been stolen, leaving only the legs. You can only see the legs of the Buddha statues in Wat Mahathat, which also gives a slightly bizarre feeling.
Besides the statues, the ruins and architectural structures are grand and magnificent, making it a great place to take once-in-a-lifetime photos.
The interior is larger than expected, so I recommend taking your time to explore leisurely.
