April's main force for flower appreciationโthe Rose Garden of Wuhan Botanical Garden
The sea of Chinese roses at Wuhan Botanical Garden presents a different kind of scenery. Despite the arrival of summer, the spring atmosphere at Wuhan Botanical Garden has an extended standby, with fresh flowers blooming everywhere, adding a romantic hue to East Lake. The garden boasts a specialized Chinese rose garden with more than 200 varieties and over 7,000 Chinese rose plants, making it the park with the most varieties of Chinese roses in Wuhan. It gathers numerous famous domestic and international varieties such as 'Fei Shan', 'Fen Shan', 'Black Pearl', and also the new black Chinese rose variety 'Black Beauty', green Chinese rose 'Lv E'... 'Lv E' is very rare in China and is one of the ancient Chinese rose varieties that are on the brink of extinction. Entering from the main gate of the botanical garden, passing by the Monet-style water lily pond, through the stacked stone stream, stepping onto the flower-lined path, you walk into the brightly blooming sea of Chinese roses.
A nearly ten-meter-long blue brick and tile wall allows the branches and leaves of the Chinese roses to wander freely, turning it into a flower wall of color, fragrance, and exquisite beauty that reflects the retro and aesthetic charm of the garden. Clusters of pink flowers pour down, with naturally scattered branches growing and small, lush flowers interspersed among them, like a waterfall or brocade. After admiring the Chinese rose wall, you come to the Chinese rose archway, the popular photo spot of the rose garden. Above the semi-circular archway, the red and pink climbing Chinese roses are in full bloom, and from a distance, it looks like a fresh and refined spring painting. Wuhan Botanical Garden
Enjoy the beauty of flowers without missing the springtime - Wuhan Botanical Garden's Azalea Park
April is the month where azaleas bloom uniquely, creating a sea of flowers with endless beauty in the Wuhan Botanical Garden. The Azalea Park in the garden simulates the wild growth environment of azaleas, planting alpine and subalpine azaleas according to the slope differences. It has collected and cultivated more than 200 varieties of azaleas, including Rhododendron simsii, Rhododendron molle, Rhododendron spinuliferum, Rhododendron pulchrum, and Rhododendron scabrum, with a total of 50,000 plants. The most representative azalea species in the park include the deciduous Rhododendron simsii and the wild Rhododendron stenopetalum, as well as the exotic Rhododendron. Strolling through the Azalea Park, one can hear the songs of orioles and swallows, be enveloped in a subtle fragrance, and see a deep forest with serene scenery, winding paths, and flowers blooming like a brocade.
Not just the Cloud Mist Mountain, these places in Wuhan city are bursting with azaleas
๐ As one of the top four places in China to appreciate azaleas, the Cloud Mist Mountain is truly spectacular with its mountainsides covered in red azaleas. However, it is quite crowded and far from the city center, so today I'm sharing some places within Wuhan city where you can enjoy the azaleas~
๐ธ Azalea Blooming Period: April 10th to the end of April
โ

Enigmatic Davidia involucrata ๐๏ธ ๐ธ
#cherryblossom2024
#RareFloralBeauty"
Wuhan Botanical Garden is a haven for nature enthusiasts, and one of its most prized treasures is the Davidia involucrata, also known as the "Chinese pigeon tree." The appearance of its flowers, resembling white doves in flight, is a sight to behold. However, witnessing this spectacle is a rare occurrence, as the tree was introduced to the garden only in April 2021 after a hiatus of more than 30 years. ๐ณ๐๏ธ
The true beauty of the Davidia involucrata lies in its bracts, not its actual flowers, which are hidden within these white "wings." To spot this elusive tree, visitors must combine luck with a keen eye, as it blends in among the garden's many trees. ๐๐ธ
For those eager to catch a glimpse of this botanical wonder, Wuhan Botanical Garden has opened up specific areas where multiple Davidia involucrata trees can be found. The herbal garden and the aquatic ecological zone are two such locations where these trees can be admired in full bloom. ๐ฟ๐ธ
The flowering season for Davidia involucrata typically occurs in late spring and early summer, with April being the peak month. However, the unpredictable spring weather can impact the flowers, making timing crucial for visitors hoping to witness this natural marvel. ๐ธ๐ฆ๏ธ
In addition to its stunning flowers, the Davidia involucrata's fruit bears a striking resemblance to the ancient Chinese weight, adding to its allure. The tree's delicate, drooping flowers also captivate passersby, drawing them in with their charm. ๐๐ธ
As part of the Cymbidium genus, which was newly published by Chinese botanists, the Davidia involucrata holds significant botanical importance, adding to its status as a rare and precious find in Wuhan Botanical Garden. So, seize the opportunity to explore this botanical gem and witness the beauty of the Davidia involucrata firsthand! ๐ธ๐

#cherryblossom2024
As you wander along the garden paths, enveloped in lush greenery, your gaze is swiftly captured by clusters of white ๐ธ , globe-like flowers. These are the Chinese Snowball Viburnum, renowned for their enduring blooms and impressive size.
Most of these flowers ๐ธ begin to bloom by late March, making it the optimal time for admiration. The white flowers contrast beautifully against the verdant leaves, lending them a rich and lively presence. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice the petals' smooth, silky texture, reminiscent of fine fabric. The entire "ball" of flowers ๐ is encircled by these overlapping petals, some displaying a hint of green at the center before maturing into pure white.
For regular visitors to the botanical garden, you may have the chance to witness this marvelous transformation firsthand. As April unfolds, we hope the new month brings fresh blooms and trees to accompany you on your journey. Today's real shot: the tulips at Wuhan Botanical Garden are in full bloom!
It's been almost a year since I last visited the Wuhan Botanical Garden, and this time I found many changes and surprises. I must say, the botanical garden is becoming even better.
๐ท For friends who go there to enjoy and photograph the spring flowers, the tulips ๐ท are currently blooming en masse. It's not too crowded on weekdays, and the scenery is especially photogenic when it's sunny! From my casual stroll today, I saw three large areas of tulips:
Picture 1๏ธโฃ is near the East Lake side, where the tulips are planted in strips according to their colors, with a metal rainbow bridge and a cute little house covered in graffiti nearby. The tulips here are blooming beautifully, and I really like this spot!
Picture 2๏ธโฃ features tulips of various colors combined with ancient-style architecture, and some photo spots have been set up. It seems that this area is the largest, but half of it is still in bud, which should all bloom in the next few days;
Picture 3๏ธโฃ is in a forested area dominated by red tulips, though not very large.
๐ In addition to tulips, the orchid exhibition in the entrance landscape greenhouse is still on display, but many of the flowers are at the end of their blooming period and are in average condition. Plus, there are many children on spring field trips inside, making the greenhouse a bit stuffy, so I didn't look closely.
Additionally, there are two other places I personally like:
โถ๏ธ One is the Herb Garden, which has a lot of interesting medicinal herb plants for science education. Currently, there aren't many flowers here, but it's dotted with daffodils, grape hyacinths, tulips, daisies, pansies, and snowdrops, giving it a very natural feel.
โถ๏ธ The other is the newly built experimental greenhouse? The glasshouse is quite upscale, with various aquatic plants, carnivorous plants, and many water lilies blooming. It was my first time seeing the flower of the giant water lily.
There's also the newly opened Plant House Science Education Garden, which I briefly understood to be quite well done, combining plant science education and amusement, as well as botanical-themed dining and books, suitable for taking children for natural education.
PS: The botanical garden is quite large, and I always wander around without looking at the map, possibly missing some scenery. I welcome everyone to add more, and also, the grass on the central lawn is really green, setting up a tent and lying down is very comfortable.
The upcoming Wuhan can be called the ceiling of domestic flower-viewing tourism

The garden is full of fragrant fragrances, and the scenery is original. Although it is a bit sunburned to visit in summer
But most of the area is still intertwined with grass and trees, fresh and cool. It has passed the flowering period of tulips.
The lotus flowers in the pond are quietly blooming, and they are also very photogenic. Unfortunately, the park is too big
Walking for three or four hours did not allow you to see the scenery (there are sightseeing cars in the park) and did not see the famous fog
A great place to check in for the National Day~~ Wuhan Botanical Garden
My impression of the botanical garden has always stayed in the spring with flowers and greenery.
It was not until this rainy day that I came to the botanical garden and saw the most pleasing aspect of the botanical garden.
The quietness added to the botanical garden due to the fewer people on rainy days,
but there is a unique atmosphere.
Seeing various plants in the rain can see their most vigorous state.
Various shady paths interspersed in the botanical garden, and ancient style pavilions are sparsely populated with some elders practicing boxing and sword dancing.
Every time I come to the botanical garden, the feeling is different.
Each time is better than the last.
If you don't want to squeeze in the East Lake Greenway, you can come to the botanical garden!
