During the Dragon Boat Festival, I took a less-traveled hiking trip to the Wulei Mountain and Cangyun Creek in Cixi
The weather forecast is generally inaccurate during the rainy season in the south of the Yangtze River. I thought it would rain, but the day before the festival turned out to be sunny, so I decided to take this cool path. The stream meandered along the way, flanked by shady green trees, making the climb quite pleasant.
The whole journey was about 10 kilometers with an altitude of 385 meters. The continuous ascent at the beginning was a bit tiring, but I managed to finish the hike in 4 hours, just before sunset.
The next day, it poured with rain, so I visited the Yue Kiln Museum. It turns out that the Yue Kiln was not the official kiln of the Yue State, but a shorthand for the Yue kilns of the Tang Dynasty, known for the imperial court's use of celadon. I also learned a bit about celadon. It turns out that the celadon techniques in Japan and Korea were originally passed on from ancient China, and now that the technique has been lost domestically, we have to learn from Japan and Korea. The trip was intended to educate my son, but he ended up playing with other children while I learned something new.
I am amazed at how accurate the ancient Chinese were with their solar terms. The bayberry comes to market just as the rainy season begins in the south of the Yangtze River, which means that the Dragon Boat Festival is likely to be rainy. In the future, I will plan my trips according to the solar terms.

You must visit Wulei Lecture Temple when you come to Cixi! The world is inherently tranquil; all disturbances are in the mind
"There is nothing troublesome in the world; all troubles are within the human heart."
I recommend everyone to visit Zhejiang during the bayberry season, taste the Cixi bayberries, and explore the local favorite spots. The following two attractions are recommended by Cixi locals:
The thousand-year-old Fangjiahetou Village has a pair of ancient camphor trees, companions for over five hundred years.
There is a sweetgum tree at Wulei Mountain that was first planted in the early Northern Song Dynasty.
Wulei Lecture Temple is a thousand-year-old ancient temple in eastern Zhejiang.
What are we in front of trees that have lived for hundreds or thousands of years?
Focus on enjoying the scenery. I took a few casual photos, but they can't capture one-thousandth of their beauty. I like these spots that are not too famous or trendy. They are not noisy but peaceful, especially Wulei Lecture Temple, because there are few people, it's free of any turbidity. Listening to the sound of the stream, birds, and chanting, smelling the fragrance of flowers, trees, and the temple, brings peace and joy to the heart.
