You must visit Xiaohe Straight Street when you come to Hangzhou
Xiaohe Straight Street, it is a niche attraction, although not as famous as West Lake, but its history is very long.
Bluestone slabs are paved, and the alleys are deep, which is a very typical ancient street in the southern water town. Here, the charm of old Hangzhou is full, and there are many artistic shops hidden on both sides of the alley.
Attraction: Xiaohe Straight Street Historical and Cultural Block
Attraction location: Xiaohe Straight Street, Gongshu District, Hangzhou
Transportation guide: Subway: Exit A of Beida Bridge on Line 10 or self-driving
AVERY SAUNDERS
Tired of West Lake? Let's take a walk on Xiaohe Straight Street
I've been to West Lake, Xixi, Qinghefang Street, and the Southern Song Imperial Street three, four, five, six, seven, eight times. I opened the map 🗺 and chose this time's destination at Xiaohe Straight Street 💐 next to the Grand Canal.
·
🚇 Transportation
Take the 5⃣ line to the Grand Canal Station, exit D and walk 1.8km
📝 You can pass Gongchen Bridge 🌉, the historical district of the Grand Canal (super lively at night, Hangzhou's characteristic market style ✅), and many national museums 🏛: China Knife, Scissors and Sword Museum, China Fan Museum, China Umbrella Museum, Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, etc. (closed around five o'clock, closed on Mondays ‼️)
·
Take the 3⃣ line to Xiangji Temple Station, exit A and walk 1.8km
📝 You can pass through Dadou Road historical district 🏮, you can also walk along the Grand Canal in advance to feel the canal scenery!
·
🛤 Route planning
📝 You can visit all at once (it is not recommended to go back, the scenery is the same)
·
📝 Sharing the street view of Xiaohe Straight Street, there are super popular cat cafes 🐱, coffee shops ☕️, Japanese restaurants 🍱, there are many characteristic small statues on the road by the canal, overall, there are not many places to go, but for those who like to walk, feel the old district, it is also a good choice ✅. If you're tired of West Lake, go and see Xiaohe Straight Street, more beautiful corners, waiting for everyone to explore themselves
JERICHO FIELDS
No need to go to Xunpu! Hangzhou also has Zanhuawei and Mami skirts, and the women of the Southern Song Dynasty are full of spring in the city!
📍Tourist address: Hangzhou Xiaohe Straight Street Historical and Cultural Block
👍Special recommendation: Zanhuawei, Mami skirt rental photo
💰Rental price: a set of clothes + Zanhuawei 258 yuan/2 hours
🚊Transportation: Take the subway to Xiangji Temple Station and walk 2 kilometers, or take a taxi directly, do not drive by yourself, it is not convenient to park nearby
📸Photographer: Wang Bin (Hangzhou appointment)
🎥My shooting experience:
Today, I took everyone to the famous Xiaohe Straight Street historical block in Hangzhou, where there are crowds and beauties. A large number of young women are dressed in Hanfu ancient costumes, wearing Zanhuawei, taking pictures on ancient bridges, ancient streets, and in front of ancient houses. Obviously, Zanhuawei has been popular from Xunpu, Fujian to Hangzhou. If you haven't taken a Zanhuawei yet, you're out!
"Blooming", "Bright and moving", "Smiling like a flower" and other words have always been used to describe the outstanding appearance of women. Zanhuawei, at first, was only very popular in Xunpu ancient village in Fujian. At the beginning of 2023, Zhao Liying's Zanhuawei style became popular, and this popularity also ignited the Xunpu women's culture. Zhao Liying's Zanhuawei style is a very successful set of styles last year, which has ignited the development of cultural tourism and intangible cultural heritage.
Now, Zanhuawei has become popular in Hangzhou. In the Xiaohe Straight Street historical block in Hangzhou, many businesses provide Hanfu rental services and Zanhuawei wearing rental services. Little sisters who come to Hangzhou for tourism must come here to play, it is very characteristic. Taking a set of beautiful Zanhuawei photos is the most memorable youth. If you need to shoot, you can call me.
The Xiaohe Straight Street historical block has many small shops, snacks, fun, rental costumes and flower hairpins, cafes, noodle shops, etc., it is worth a visit, even if you don't take pictures here, you can also stroll leisurely for an afternoon, various small shops are dazzling, full of atmosphere.

Share a few treasure shops
River Coffee
The name of each coffee is a book name, Dirty is named "The Viscount Divided into Two", and Milk Coffee is named "Rashomon". A very famous coffee shop on Xiaohe Straight Street
There are many handmade small jars in the backyard sea shop, which is a small tea house, where you can sit by the river and drink tea/coffee
At Daju's house, drinking coffee and stroking cats is super enjoyable!

Treasure Coffee Shop on Xiaohu Straight Street in Hangzhou | Coffee Brain
How can you miss Xiaohu Straight Street when you come to Hangzhou! There are too many new shops on Xiaohu Straight Street! I found this treasure coffee shop✌️
·
🏠Environment:
The decoration is in a Japanese wooden style, it's really hard to find by looking at the doorplate, but it really feels like finding a treasure. The interior decoration is very warm, which is my favorite style~
·
☕️Recommendation☕️
1️⃣Hand-drip coffee
The shop's main hand-drip coffee, you can tell the boss your taste, the boss will recommend, ordered Ethiopia and Kenya and one kind of hand-drip, three different tastes, Ethiopia's more sour, Kenya's middle sour, all are fragrant, before drinking the boss will let drink a cup of water, so you can better taste the hand-drip flavor👅
2️⃣Latte
The latte with deep roasted beans has a very rich taste, and the fat is also quite rich, it's delicious
·
💁Service:
The boss's service is quite good, he keeps adding water for us, I used four cups by myself, I'm really embarrassed😅

Xiaohe Street: A lovely area in Hangzhou 🏮
#visithangzhou A historical street at the intersection of three rivers lined with ancient Chinese style neighbourhoods🏮
Xiaohe Zhijie traces the waterside lifestyle of the late Qing Dynasty & the early Republic of China 🇨🇳
Not a popular place some years ago, it became gradually commercialised with a plethora of coffee shops ☕️, restaurants 🍜& handicrafts 🪭 A charming contrast of the old v/s the new!
I highly recommend adding it to your Hangzhou itinerary 👌🏼It’s such a vibrant place which is also gorgeous at night with the lanterns lit 🏮✨
How to go ➡️ I took a taxi from West Lake cultural Square metro station. It was about 15-20 mins.

Xiaohe Straight Street is bustling and full of charm, making it a great place to explore
🌿 When in Hangzhou, one must always take a stroll down the charming Xiaohe Straight Street, which is lively and enjoyable.
🧩 "The long alleys of the marketplace, when gathered, are the smoke and fire of life; when spread out, they are the human world," this is a true description of Xiaohe Straight Street. Despite the crowds of tourists, one can still feel the slow pace of life. The street is lined with various carefully decorated shops, allowing people to walk and browse at leisure, which is very pleasant.
🧩 Xiaohe Straight Street retains a number of historical buildings, featuring the typical characteristics of residences in the Jiangnan water towns, and one can see a lot of Hangzhou folklore.
🧩 Along the way, the shops on both sides are quite busy, and I even got to enjoy free ice cream and yellow wine milk tea, which was a pleasantly unexpected surprise.

Xiaohe Straight Street, wandering through the alleys, is also a kind of enjoyment beyond the world
Located at the confluence of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Xiaohe, and Yuhangtang River, Hangzhou's Xiaohe Straight Street boasts the living environment of the lower-class people along the canal from the late Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Republic of China. Its architectural features, street landscape, and canal shipping relics are characteristic of Hangzhou, preserving a unique style. Xiaohe Straight Street is the last canal residence in Hangzhou. When the hustle and bustle fade away, and the superficiality is washed off, it retreats and hides in a corner of the city, finding peace amidst the noise, like a town from another era, a forgotten corner. The smoke and fire of the marketplace, the deep alleys; the flavor of the water town, most reminiscent of the south of the Yangtze River. The charm of the small street makes one yearn and linger.
Strolling on Xiaohe Straight Street, with its bluestone pavements, white walls, and black tiles, feels like being in an ink painting. Shops line the street, brimming with artistic atmosphere. Sitting by the river, dazed, one feels the leisurely slow pace of life.

Hangzhou Xiaohe Straight Street Travel Guide | A literary alley worth strolling through
Hidden in the hustle and bustle of the city is a small world—Xiaohe Straight Street
A river divides the street into two, with white walls and black tiles, wooden doors and windows, full of charm. A Hangzhou slow life alley filled with local atmosphere by the canal. Many old Hangzhou residents live in the small alleys and lanes, which also hide many unique shops. Restaurants, cafes, tea rooms, handicrafts, flower shops... The shop decorations are very artistic, great for taking photos, and a nice place for walking with kids.
✨In the bustling alley, from time to time, a few kittens will dart out, cute and lazy, irresistible to pet. Hamburg is always looking for cats, and played with a kitten for a long time.
✨Strolling in the alley, with the breeze brushing your cheeks, you feel relaxed and happy. Coming here, you are attracted by the ancient charm and fascinated by the alleys on both sides of the river. The white walls and black tiles have witnessed the past, and also let us feel the profound historical and cultural heritage.

Come to Hangzhou and skip the crowded West Lake this time. Take a May Day hike from the Modern Pier to the Historical and Cultural Street, where the scenery is beautiful all the way!

💃 Xinyifang Pier
Named after Xinyi Lane, Xinyifang is also one of the three Hutong areas in Hushu. Between the hustle and bustle and the tranquility of the city, this urban commercial street, with its King Cherry Blossom and a commercial experience that combines strolling, playing, shopping, and appreciating, has become a popular check-in spot by the canal.
💃 Xiaohe Street
The Xiaohe Straight Street Historical and Cultural District centers around Xiaohe Straight Street. The residential buildings and shipping facilities along the canal and Xiaohe River are mostly preserved, with their overall appearance and spatial characteristics still intact, making it one of the more complete traditional areas in Hangzhou's historical and cultural districts. The district authentically reflects the living environment of the lower-class people along the canal in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, preserving a certain number of historical buildings. Hangzhou Citywalk | Life Advice: Dedicate a day to Xiaohe Straight Street
Hangzhou's Xiaohe Straight Street is an ancient street full of historical and cultural heritage. The street is paved with old bluestone slabs, and on both sides are well-preserved traditional buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with quaint wooden windows and tile roofs. Whether it's the tranquility of the day or the brilliant lights at night, Xiaohe Straight Street immerses you in the intersection of ancient charm and modern prosperity.
📍 Xiaohe Straight Street Historical and Cultural District
🎫 Open all day, free admission
🚗 If driving, it is recommended to park at "Le Di Port", then walk west along Daguan Road for 5 minutes, keep to the right side and walk down the bridge ramp, go straight ahead for 3 minutes and you will see the archway of "Xiaohe Straight Street", continue forward for 5 minutes, and you will arrive at the historical and cultural district. This section of the road is very quiet, and it is recommended to enjoy a stroll under the plane trees 🚶If taking a taxi, you can directly go to "Xiaohe Straight Street North 2 Entrance/Exit".
✅ Touring Tips:
1⃣️The whole journey of strolling and taking photos takes about 2 hours. Enter from the Xiaohe North 2 Entrance/Exit of the historical and cultural district, go forward past the Long March Bridge, continue to browse forward, walk to the Qinjian Bridge, turn right across the river, then browse back, return to Xiaohe Road North 1 Exit, Huizhen Bridge. The core area of the historical and cultural district is to walk a circle along the canal.
2⃣️It is suitable to go in the morning or before evening. In the morning, you can experience the tranquility here, and you can monopolize the entire ancient street; in the evening, the ancient alleys are lit up with lights, creating a romantic atmosphere.
3⃣️There are many cafes, tea bars, creative restaurants, and bars here. If you get tired of walking, you can casually find one to sit in, which will make you feel like you have walked into the ancient town of Lijiang.
4⃣️Why is it recommended to park at Le Di Port? If you have finished walking here and still want to experience another ancient street in Hangzhou, then go back to Daguan Road, across the street, there is another ancient street, Dadou Road, and Hangzhou's famous "Xiangji Temple".

The little tavern where I check in every week is the most beautiful American-style bistro in my mind!
❄ After work, the leisure life is to meet friends at this American-style bistro for a tipsy decompression, which is really suitable for workers. The environment is also super characteristic, with retro American-style decoration, and the restaurant has a super large screen for watching movies, sports events, etc.
❄ The tipsy atmosphere here is very good, there are many young ladies, and there are quite a few regular customers who come here, which I think is a shop that can be visited repeatedly.
❄ 100% pure durian meat pizza: The pizza is full of durian meat, and you can smell the super rich durian flavor as soon as it is served, which is really delicious. Friends who love durian should not miss it.
❄ White wine braised mushrooms with pan-seared prawns: The combination of prawns and mushrooms, with the addition of white wine for aroma enhancement, the prawns are already peeled, convenient for eating. The creamy mushrooms are tender, crisp, and delicious beyond words.
❄ Lemon crispy fish: The crispy fish is fried to a golden color, looking very appetizing, and it is crispy and crunchy with a lemon fragrance, very aromatic.
❄ Classic Philly beef hot dog: The bread is stuffed with creamy beef, the bread is soft and fluffy, the beef is fresh and juicy, and one bite brings a full sense of happiness.
❄ For drinks, we ordered velvet latte, hot orange black tea, etc., all of which are good choices. The specialty is the red velvet latte, which is not only high in color but also very mellow.

After arriving in Hangzhou, don't just stick to the citywalk by the West Lake, head straight to Xiaohe Straight Street. Whether it's sunny or rainy, it's very chill~
There are many sisters with hairpins on the street, which blend in well with this street. If you want to experience it, you should go early.
Basically, you can finish strolling in about 2~3 hours. I had dinner at 'Viting Xunwei Jiangnan' on Xiaohe Straight Street,
recommended to me by a local friend from Hangzhou. The environment is quite nice, great for taking photos, suitable for gatherings with friends and family dinners. Their Danshan dipping water green mango and lime jelly orange were my first try, very appetizing, and the presentation is exquisite~

Hangzhou's Xiaohe Straight Street has already been conquered by hairpin shops!!!
💫 I remember the old Xiaohe Straight Street
was very suitable for a stroll after dinner or on weekends, a quiet place to have a tea.
It was less crowded and had little commercial atmosphere, which made it a favorite spot of mine.
I recall it was around October 1, 2022, when Xiaohe Park opened,
and then it slowly started to gain popularity as various platforms began to recommend it.
The place quickly became bustling with people.
It seems that in the second half of 2023, around November, I went for a walk with my daughter after dinner and noticed a few hairpin shops had opened up. Then, like bamboo shoots after a rain,
they rapidly increased to 10, 20... I heard there are now about 35 shops. Now, if you go there on a weekend, it's really crowded with people everywhere.
There are people taking photos of the hairpins, and also of Yanji clothing. As many netizens have said, the hairpins are beautiful,
everyone likes them, and they are indeed pretty, but I always feel that they don't quite fit with Hangzhou's style. Even if Hangzhou were to embrace hairpin fashion, perhaps it could consider adopting Song dynasty-style hairpins.

Hangzhou | Spend a leisurely day at Xiaohe Straight Street for Goddess Festival
I had planned where to go for Goddess Festival for a while, looking for a place with beautiful scenery where I could sit back and relax.
Xiaohe Straight Street by the canal has an increasingly strong Lijiang-style atmosphere, which is both common and flamboyant, with a strong impact. Now, there are many new hairpin shops opened, or perhaps, it's a place where elegance and vulgarity are appreciated together!
I dare not come on weekends, too many people, haha!
🌟 Highlights:
The old street in Hangzhou with the strongest Lijiang-style atmosphere
🚉 Transportation Tips:
Cars can be parked at Xiaohe Park parking lot
📝 Note Tips:
The restaurants don't offer many main dishes, more like light meals and afternoon tea

Stroll down Xiaohe Straight Street to experience the hustle and bustle of a popular check-in spot
Seven years ago, when I was still in Hangzhou, I often wandered around Xiaohe Straight Street.
Back then, the original residents, in groups of twos and threes, would either sit idly in front of their houses or hang things out to dry, with a few handcraft shops (like Xia Mo Homemade), and grocery stores exuding a fresh and artistic vibe. Wandering in the rain felt particularly refreshing.
Unexpectedly, seven years later, this place has become a hotspot for internet celebrities.
Hairpins, Hanfu, coffee shops, riverside tea rooms, snacks...
The street is bustling with noise, and there are photo opportunities everywhere, making it suitable for young ladies to rent a set of Hanfu and walk around taking pictures.
Sitting in a tea room and looking at the river view opposite, one can really feel the charm of the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River. It's quite nice.

The two streets inside are quite artistic and retro, with vintage shops, coffee shops, tea houses, etc. Many spots are photogenic with a casual shot. Hangzhou Xiaohe Straight Street

Hangzhou - Xiaohe Straight Street
It's been a long time since I've been to Hangzhou. This year, I took advantage of the fewer people before the New Year to take a stroll. It was my first time to Xiaohe Straight Street, which is known as the 'Little Kyoto'. There were really a lot of people on the few small streets, probably because it was the weekend
I found a coffee shop by the river to sit down. It seemed to be a popular online spot. Luckily, there was a spot by the river. I enjoyed the long-lost winter sunshine, drank coffee, and watched people at other tables boiling tea around the stove. It was nice, but I had just finished lunch and was too full, so I had to give up
🌟Casually strolling around is quite nice. I saw many young girls taking pictures as 'Zan Flower Women'. Isn't this from the Minnan region? Why is it everywhere in Hangzhou
