    Catch the Details in the Forest

    #china #yunnan #xishuangbanna You can be forgiven for always looking down to watch your step in the Primeval Forest Park, or by looking up at the canopy high above your head, but we found real joy in exploring the details. When we took time to look, we saw a butterfly with wings camouflaged like a leaf just emerging from its cocoon! Our favourite part was pointing out all the houseplants we have at home in their natural habitat.

    This forest hasn't changed in 10,000 years

    The primeval forest park in Jinhong, Xishuangbanna was probably the coolest place we visited on our trip. Its a true natural wonder of Yunnan and reflects how the province has been for all of ancient history until humans arrived. The forest park has several different attractions including an aquarium, a peacock show lake, a minority ancient village, a waterfall, a high ropes course and a monkey Grove and walkway. The flower bridge walkways in the pictures were really fun and well decorated. We watched people zip lining past us as we walked. The monkey Grove was also really nice. You can buy slices of banana to feed to the monkeys and they sit on bouncy bamboo sticks and catch the food thrown to them. The bamboo walkway was very long and hot but worth it to really get to see the forest up close. #nationalpark#naturalwonders

As the Chinese most well-preserved virgin rainforest area, this natural reserve owes various and rare wild lives such as Asia elephant, Pantheratigriscorbetti tiger (Indo-Chinese tiger), brown-headed hornbill and green peacock, etc. Visitors can find these rare wild lives living a homey life by taking a tour bus along the roads in the reserve.     I definitely recommend you to spend an afternoon at the Virgin Forest Park! Here’s some information: “Xishuangbanna Virgin Forest Park includes a peacock reproduction facility, a monkey domesticating base, a large stadium devoted to ethnic activities (the Garden of Ethnic Cultures), and a number of ethnic dwellings displaying the living habitats, the implements and the utensils unique to each ethnic group. There are some 10 ethnic minorities, here, including the Dai, the Hani, the Bulang, the Jinuo, the Lahu, the Wa, and the Yao, whereof the Dai is the largest, comprising one-third of the population.” Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can participate in a water fight.     Having traveled several south east Asian countries, when you conjure up ideas of the Mekong you think, floating markets, and small fishing villages, but that mighty river has to begin somewhere, and of course the source is China, and this aquarium takes an in depth look at marine life in this extensive river. Having taken a taxi to what I thought would be untouched rainforest, I was sold multi enterance tickets. Intrigued, I followed the signs and found myself in an aquarium, much of the notice boards were in English, which I loved, and seeing such a large array of fish, in comfortable tanks was wonderful. I learnt a lot at this aquarium and would highly recommend. #aquarium #underthesea #mekongriver

    Getting There - 5km from Jinhong Attractions - Aquarium and forest park Hotels - None Food & Restaurants - Lots of local food and coffee Shopping - souvenirs Tourists visit a newly-opened freshwater aquarium at the Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park in Xishuangbanna, southwest China's Yunnan province on January 5, 2020. As the first of this kind in China, the aquarium is home to native freshwater species from the Mekong River, freshwater fish species from the Yangtze River and other rare amphibians. I was really impressed with the clean and high standard living conditions for the fish and reptiles. A little difficult to find your way around inside as not many English signs. There is also a 7,D cinema which is well worth doing, kids will love it.

    Lost in the primitive forest of Xishuangbanna, the jungle leap is thrilling

    Thick and dense primitive vegetation covers the area, and it's close to the city, only a 15-minute taxi ride costing around 20 yuan. Moreover, it's not tiring to play around. The nearest showtime in the Forest Park is shown in picture 4. Highly recommended tips: 1. Be sure to take the electric car, be sure to take the electric car, be sure to take the electric car (except for those who like walking). The round-trip ticket for the electric car is only 98 yuan, there's really no reason to walk so much! Besides, there's not much to see on the way, saving energy for climbing the valley later is better. 2. Pay attention to the showtime, it's better to watch the first show 'Flying Peacock' first. The 'Flying Peacock' show is beautiful, and it's right at the entrance, next to the electric car boarding point. After watching, you can take the car up the mountain. So, it's best to arrive at the scenic spot at 9:30 or 11:30. Personally, I think 9:30 is better because it's cooler in the morning! Also, when we left at 12:30, we found that there were more people going up the mountain than in the morning. 3. Here's the key point! Since the show only lasts 20 minutes, I personally think it's better to stand at the back to watch the show. Not only is the view wider, but the main thing is that you can quickly walk to the electric car boarding point when it ends. Otherwise, if you wait for everyone to crowd over, you might have to queue for about 20 minutes. 4. Be sure to take the electric car directly to the end. The middle stop is for ethnic musical instrument performances, don't get off, watch it on the way back, because if you get off, it will be hard to get back on the car. The end point is the entrance to the tropical valley rainforest, which is a square with performances and water-splashing entertainment (see picture 4 for the schedule). 5. After entering the valley rainforest, the first place is for feeding monkeys, where there are places selling monkey food (bananas). If you bring your own, you are not allowed to feed them. I watched people feeding monkeys for about half an hour, it was quite interesting. The mountain path inside is also easy to walk. Since we didn't plan to play the 'Jungle Leap' adventure project, we chose route A and walked a short distance, took some photos, and then returned the same way.

    Transportation: It is about seven or eight kilometers away from Gaozhuang, and there is a shuttle bus from the tourist service center for 10 yuan per person. Taking a Didi ride there costs about a dozen yuan, and it's also easy to call a Didi for the return trip. Tickets: 45 yuan, 41 yuan for an electronic ticket from Qunar, and 60 yuan for a round-trip by electric cart. In fact, the actual distance from the entrance to the valley rainforest is less than 3 kilometers, and the road is very easy to walk. If you're not in a hurry, it's very comfortable to stroll around slowly. Performance: There are a total of four spots within the scenic area. Just a few hundred meters from the entrance, you'll reach the place where peacocks are released, followed by the starting point of the electric cart.
