Located in Changping District, Beijing, Yinshan Pagoda Forest 银山塔林 not only has beautiful natural scenery, but also a large number of historical relics. The name Yinshan Pagoda Forest shows that there were once a large number of tomb pagodas for monks built here, spanning the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, but most of them were destroyed during the war in the Republic of China. There are five octagonal brick pagodas in Yinshan Pagoda Forest, all of which were built in the Jin Dynasty, nine hundred years ago.

Changping Yinshan Pagoda Forest
Yinshan Pagoda Forest is a Buddhist holy site with a thousand-year history located in Xihu Village, Xingshou Town, Changping District, Beijing. The history of Yinshan Pagoda Forest can be traced back to the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, when the first temple was built on Yinshan Mountain. During the Liao and Jin Dynasties, the area was home to many temples and became one of the most important Buddhist holy sites in northern China. After continuous expansion and reconstruction during the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties, Yinshan Pagoda Forest gradually became the spectacular site we see today.
🌲The Origin of Yinshan's Name and Its Beautiful Scenery🌲
Yinshan, originally named "Tiebi Yinshan," was named for its steep cliffs that resemble tall walls and are black as iron, and for its snow-covered mountains that appear silver after a snowfall. The area is known for its beautiful, secluded natural scenery and its many ancient pagodas with unique styles. The pagoda forest is especially beautiful in the spring sunset.
✅Fahua Zen Temple and the Pagoda Forest
On the southern slope of Yinshan, the five Liao Dynasty brick pagodas with dense eaves in Fahua Zen Temple are particularly spectacular. The Fojue, Yixing, and Huitang Pagodas have octagonal thirteen-story eaves, while the Yuantong and Xujing Pagodas have hexagonal seven-story eaves. The pagodas are all intricately carved. These pagodas are not only treasures of Buddhist architecture but also valuable heritage for studying ancient Chinese Buddhism and brick and stone architecture.
🕰️Witness to Historical Changes🕰️
Yinshan Pagoda Forest has endured a thousand years of wind and rain and witnessed countless historical changes. From the Huayan Temple of the Tang Dynasty to the Baoyan Temple of the Liao Dynasty, the Dayansheng Temple of the Jin Dynasty, and the Fahua Zen Temple of the Ming Dynasty, the area has always been an important site for the transmission of Buddhist culture. Although most of the Fahua Zen Temple and nearby temples were destroyed during the Republic of China period, the surviving ancient pagodas and ruins still provide us with valuable historical information. Blood
✅National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit Blood
In 1988, Yinshan Pagoda Forest was announced as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the People's Republic of China. This is not only a recognition of its historical value but also an encouragement for future generations to inherit and protect this valuable cultural heritage.
There is a parking lot at the ticket office, but there are not many spaces. However, there are two large parking lots not far away. The mountain road is a bit steep, so you can bring trekking poles.
The scenic area features winding mountain paths lined with lush trees, creating dappled sunlight. The ancient pagoda forest is home to seven ancient pagodas, including five magnificent Jin Dynasty brick pagodas with dense eaves. The pagodas are tall, with overlapping eaves, smooth lines, and exquisite base patterns. The mountain top offers a panoramic view of the rolling hills against the blue sky and white clouds, overlooking the ancient and solemn pagoda forest. The caves in the mountains add a touch of mystery. In autumn, the colorful trees complement the pagoda forest, creating a picturesque scene.
🗓Itinerary:
- Regular route: Enjoy the forest scenery along the mountain path from the entrance, visit the ancient pagoda forest, and climb to the top for a panoramic view.
- In-depth route: Visit the caves in the mountains for a mysterious atmosphere.
⏳Visiting time:
Autumn is the best time to visit, as you can enjoy the colorful mountains and the ancient pagoda forest.

A seriously underestimated autumn outing secret in the suburbs of Beijing, 1.5 hours away, with a guide attached.
Located in the Yingshan Mountains in Changping, Beijing, it still retains its original appearance. The ancient Liao Pagoda building complex with a history of thousands of years is a place that is seriously ignored by both humanities and nature. Especially the five main pagodas in the pagoda forest are beautifully shaped
There are 17 existing ancient pagodas, which are of different sizes and heights, and are distributed among the Yingshan Mountains. In autumn, the sun shines in the pagoda forest, and the forest is dyed. It is a good place to climb the tower and climb the mountain in autumn
🚗1-2 hours in Beijing
🚶♂️There are few tourists, and the small travel destination can be climbed on foot. It is suitable for all ages and is not difficult
🍁The autumn forest is dyed, and it is a good place to enjoy the autumn

What to play here
❶Visit the Buddhist pagoda site and learn about history and culture
❷There is a climbing trail on the left side of the Pagoda Forest Square, which can be climbed on foot to experience "I will be on the top, and I will see all the mountains"

Beijing. Yingshan Pagoda Forest.
[Yingshan Pagoda Forest] is located in Changping District. It is a 4A scenic spot that requires booking one day in advance. It is the filming location of the TV series "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber" starring Alec Su.
It is a 5-minute walk from the ticket check point to the pagoda forest.
The pagoda forest is not very large and there are not many people.
There are oak trees and chestnut trees on the mountain.
You can also go to the Thirteen Tombs, which is close to the pagoda forest. In this way, you can visit two places in one day. The pagoda forest is very spectacular.
🙏The pagoda forest was built in the Jin Dynasty and belongs to Buddhist culture. Almost every pagoda is somewhat tilted. There are "small boxes" on the pagoda body to observe the condition of the pagoda. When it tilts to a certain extent, it needs to be maintained. These are all information obtained from chatting with the staff in the scenic spot while resting in the square. In just 20 minutes, the entire pagoda forest was introduced in detail, and the explanation was very good. When I left, I was told that the spring water at the door was of excellent quality and sweet, and I could take some home to drink.
✅There are two hiking routes. If the elderly and children have average physical strength, they can climb to the vicinity of the pagoda forest square. After visiting the pagoda forest and breathing fresh air, they can go home. The total hiking time from the entrance of the scenic spot to the pagoda forest is about 40 minutes. If you have good physical strength, you can continue to climb up the mountain and climb to a place overlooking the pagoda forest.
🤗There is no shop selling things to climb to the pagoda forest square. It seems that there was one before, but it was abandoned. There are only some stone benches and stone tables for rest. It is recommended to bring your own water and food.

👍️Must-visit Attraction: Yinshan Pagoda Forest, located in Xihu Village, Yanshou Town, Changping District, Beijing. The temple on Yinshan Mountain was first built during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. Since the Yuanhe period of Emperor Xianzong of Tang, famous monks and Zen masters from various dynasties have come here. After the Zen masters and novice monks passed away, pagodas were built within the Fahua Zen Temple and at the foot of Yinshan Mountain according to their rank and status in Buddhism. These pagodas, where their remains were cremated and stored, collectively form the 'Yinshan Pagoda Forest.' Currently, there are 17 existing pagoda tombs of varying sizes and heights, with the tallest being over 20 meters high and about 7 meters in diameter, while the shortest are only two to three meters high. From the design of the pagodas, they can be roughly divided into two categories: dense-eaves pagodas and stupa-style pagodas. Besides these two types, there is also a combination-style pagoda that integrates both designs, making it a unique masterpiece in the pagoda forest. It is a valuable heritage for studying ancient Chinese Buddhism and brick-stone architecture.
🎟️Ticket Information: Adult ticket 20 yuan.
💗Other Tips: There are many insects on the mountain in summer.

Peach blossoms surround the Wangbao River, the iron arm of Yanshan Mountain, and the pagoda forest
Missing the autumn view of Yanshan Pagoda Forest, come when the peach blossoms are in full bloom.
Starting from Yanshou Temple, passing through Dahei Mountain, the pagoda forest, and Wangbao River,
Visiting three places in one go is quite nice.
There are three steep climbs along the way, and each climb can be a bit tiring.
The peach blossoms are thriving, covering the mountains and fields.
Petals fall from the trail with the wind, creating a very poetic scene.
As soon as you enter the Yanshan Pagoda Forest, you are greeted by five eye-catching classic pagodas.
I wandered around here for a long time, every angle is photogenic.
Compared to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, Yanshan Pagoda Forest is a less popular attraction.
Then comes the second stage of stone steps, heading towards the summit of Yanshan.
Yanshan is named for its winter appearance when 'thick snow accumulates, white as silver.'
The view from the peak is excellent, with rolling hills all around, and the view of the peach blossoms is even more magnificent from here.
Exiting the scenic area through a small gate, it's not long before you reach Wangbao River.
There are many peach blossoms, but the stairway is a bit too much for the thighs.
The boardwalk is bustling with people, and occasionally you meet a dog.
Peach blossoms falling all the way, so beautiful.
After leaving the village, I found two wide paths completely blocked.
Big and small cars couldn't move at all.
Fortunately, we made a decisive choice to gather and depart from the village entrance.

The Silver Mountain Pagoda Forest is really beautiful
This time, I visited a lesser-known attraction in Changping District. Climbing the hills on Saturday, I saw the peach blossoms in full bloom. This place has been a filming location for many movies and TV shows such as 'The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber', 'The Love of the Yellow River', and 'Huo Yuanjia'. Upon entering, you can see five very eye-catching classic pagodas, which are great for taking photos and checking in. There are a total of 17 large and small tomb pagodas here, and it is one of the 'Eight Scenic Spots of Yanping'. Compared to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs, Silver Mountain Pagoda Forest is only a niche attraction. It is famous for its numerous ancient pagodas and is unique in Beijing. It is said that Silver Mountain got its name because in winter, 'the snow accumulates thickly, and the color is as white as silver'; and it is also called 'Iron Wall Silver Mountain' because 'there are black stone cliffs at the foot of the mountain'.
📍Location: Xihu Village, Yanshou Town, Changping District, Beijing
🚍Bus: You can take Chang 31 and get off at Yingshan Road Intersection.

Located in Xingshou Town, Changping District, Beijing
Yinshan, located in Xingshou Town, Changping District, Beijing, was one of the 'Eight Sceneries of Yanping' in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The mountain is made up of black granite from bottom to top, reaching into the sky. After the snow in winter, the mountain is covered in silver white, hence it is known as 'Silver Mountain Iron Wall'. At the foot of this mountain, in the dense forest, stand 17 tombs of famous monks from past dynasties. After hundreds of years of wind and sun, they seem to be left outside the world, known as Yinshan Pagoda Forest.
Entering the entrance of the scenic area, passing through a grove, five huge Jin Dynasty secret eave pagodas suddenly come into view. This land began to build temples during the Tang Zhenguan period; during the Jin Tianhui period, the Buddhist monk Haihui practiced here and rebuilt the temple, successively set up a group of Buddhist pagodas, and was at its peak. In the second year of Ming Zhengtong (1437), Emperor Yingzong Zhu Qizhen bestowed the title 'Fahua Zen Temple'. In 1941, the invading Japanese army attacked the Beijing base of the Eighth Route Army, and the temple was destroyed overnight, leaving only the current foundation and the seven Buddhist pagodas standing on the ground. The highest Buddha Jue Zen Master Pagoda in the center is 22.8 meters high; the most exquisite and best preserved is the Master Yi Xing Pagoda in the southwest corner, which is a typical Jin Dynasty work. There are other small Buddhist pagodas scattered around the mountain. In addition, the pagoda forest is also the filming location of 'Yellow River's Endless Love' and 'The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber'.
