Food lover diary 2: Peru-Mediterranean
Colca is a very nice place to visit for a romantic dinner or just to chill with friends. There is a particular mix of flavors very relatable to Peruvian cuisine, yet many dishes have that Mediterranean-related cuisine. Ambience is fancy, yet calming.
Food is very tasty. Peruvian food is worldly known for its seafood gastronomy. The ceviches has a unexpected presentation, yet flavor was the one we came seeking for. Nice surprise (for me at least) to find roasted corn snack in our ceviche. Although not authentic, reminded me of my Costa Rican childhood and our ‘caldosas’.
Fresh, warm bread was offered on the house. Very nice touch. Not only with the butter, but you can try it with the ceviche’s tiger’s milk (leche de tigre, local name of the sauce you add).

🔅Location of these building complex is located just outside metro exit, perfect for those like me that prefer to move around without cars.

Peruvian Flavor in the Heart of Shanghai
Colca is a trendy Latin American restaurant specializing in Peruvian 🇵🇪 cuisine with a Spanish 🇪🇸 flare. Located next to Hengshan Road Station on Line 1, Colca has been racking up awards since it first opened several years ago.
🌴Atmosphere
The interior spaces are open and airy, with both indoor and outdoor seating and a modern, minimalist décor. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual.
📋Menu
Colca's China Restaurant Week menu offers a wide range of flavors and is well-portioned for two people. The amount of food is more than enough.
🥗Featured Dishes
- The “sopa criolla” has a bright tomato base, minced beef, macaroni, and a grilled quail egg all served in a coffee-style mug. A bowl of just this by itself would be a hearty meal.
- Colca's tuna steak was also particularly delicious. The bed of sautéed spinach paired well with the tuna, which had a peppery zest that wasn't overpowering.
- Be sure to save room for dessert! Both the dual chocolate and the Peruvian flan were deliciously rich and sweet. Brace yourself though for a bit of sugar shock if you eat too fast!

As the spring is already here, it's time for some outdoor brunch. I'm always addicted to the Latin cuisine, and mostly it was over dinner which will ultimately end up in lot of drinking & dancing 😁! But this time, we decided to taste the Latin cuisine when we're in clear state of mind on a fresh morning. Situated in the Hengshan road quite near from the Hengshan road metro station, Colca has an amazing patio seating. On a sunny day, it'll always be crowded for the brunch than dinner; and so, you can feel the buzz this restaurant has created. We ordered a beef soup, pomegranate juice and some spaghetti at the end. The price is reasonable and the tasty dishes make it much worthy. Definitely a more-than-one-time restaurant, in the whole spring. #tripfoodieshanghai #tripfoodie #latincuisine #brunchspots

Take a break on Hengshan Road.
On Hengshan Road, there is a Western restaurant in Yongpingli called "Crafted Garden Terrace Steak and Seafood Restaurant". On a sunny day, I went to Crafted Garden Terrace Steak and Seafood Restaurant with a friend to enjoy "Mr. Rabbit's Afternoon Tea". The environment is comfortable and quiet, and the service is very considerate. The afternoon tea is beautifully presented, with smoked salmon mini burgers, tuna avocado crispy balls, green pea sour cream tarts, shrimp avocado tarts and other sweet and savory snacks, as well as a special-shaped lucky dragon chocolate mousse, but the taste is average. The accompanying English breakfast tea and latte are standard. Overall, it is a good place to chat with friends and enjoy leisure time, but the taste of the afternoon tea needs to be improved.

Yongping Lane, bordered by Shanghai's Hengshan Road to the north and Shanghai's Yongjia Road to the south. The internal buildings are interspersed within, forming a cohesive whole through roads and courtyards, creating a special area that connects Hengshan Road and Yongjia Road. It features a pedestrian street with both historical charm and modern European style. The transportation is also super convenient, very close to the subway station, and just a short walk from the subway exit. Strolling casually on an early summer evening, admiring the distinctive architecture, and then having a drink or a meal is a very pleasant choice...

Yongpingli
Yongpingli, located in the Hengfu Historical and Cultural Scenic Area in Shanghai, at the intersection of Hengshui Road and Yongjia Road, is a low-key but petty-bourgeois creative block with a tone. The area here is not large, but there is a view at every turn, the retro literary street view, as if it has traveled to Europe in a second. A French art gallery, Du Mengtang, will regularly hold art exhibitions of different styles. This time, the works of a young post-80s painter are on display. Unfortunately, I don't understand it very well. Is it a brainstorming feeling?
