Spent a perfect 4 days in Guilin and Yangshuo viewing the incredible karst mountains, taking things slowly and relaxing in nature and beautiful scenery. There are so scenic spots along the Li and Yulong rivers. We preferred the less crowded spots. Recommend staying in Guilin for 1 night and Yangshuo for 2 or 3. I've been to Guilin before and visited all the classic spots. The cave is very slippery, and it's a very large sinkhole. Really fun for retirees. The worst thing about this experience was that we had to wait in a long queue. The rafting that we did lasted about 1.5 hours. I did the Yulong river route. Paid 160rmb for the bamboo raft ride. I booked it on one of those "pink jackets ladies" in West Street. The payment includes them giving us ride to go to the attraction and wait for us to finish the sail and bring us back home to where we stay. The Yulong River is a small tributary of the famous Li River in Yangshuo. After doing our research on the boating experiences on each river we opted for Yulong River. We were not disappointed. The scenary during the bamboo boat tour is stunning. Getting There🚙🚤🚲 - to get there we joined a small tour group through trip.com. The cost was 160RMB pp including one way transfer from our hotel to the river as well as boating tickets. We booked one way transfers and rented bicycles and cycled back through the ten mile gallery (also a really beautiful experience) Attractions🗻🛥️ - the Yulong River was really amazing. We arrived early in the morning and the river was so quiet and peaceful. The boat captain's are friendly and feel safe. There wasn't any motorized boats on the river so it was really quite. The boating experiences was about an hour which was enough time to take in all the sights. Food & Restaurants🍦🍪🍢 - make sure you have a good meal before going. Follow the yellow bloom road! This was at least the fifth time I've been to Yangshuo and every time I see something new. Last year I went during the rainy season, in June, and there was a flood; we had a relaxing day playing cards in the hotel and eating instant noodles. This year we were there at the end of February and it was perfect because the 油菜花 rapeseed flowers were blooming everywhere. Blue skies, green hills, yellow fields. We cycled along the Yulong River to Fuli and it was a perfect day: mild weather, spring blossoms and joyful signs of life everywhere. On the second day, we arrived in Yangshuo. After disembarking at the pier, we met up with Mr. Liao, our pre-booked photographer and driver-guide, and began our journey in Yangshuo. Our first stop was Shangri-La. Upon arrival, the staff quickly arranged for us to board a small boat. The guide on the boat was very knowledgeable and provided detailed explanations throughout the trip. As the boat entered the narrow waterway, we could feel the passage was "initially very narrow, barely passable," but after a while, it "suddenly opened up." The terrain here closely matches the idyllic landscape described by Tao Yuanming in his "Peach Blossom Spring," which is why the developers named it "Shangri-La." Sitting on the boat and admiring the scenery, one can easily imagine the feelings of Tao Yuanming at that time. Additionally, we saw some ethnic performers singing and dancing along the waterway, adding more color to our journey. After leaving Shangri-La, a 20-minute drive brought us to the Yulong River Scenic Area to visit Fuli Bridge. Fuli Bridge is located upstream of the Yulong River. It is a single-arch stone structure built during the Ming Dynasty, with a history of over 500 years. This is the only undeveloped free scenic area in Yangshuo. The semicircular bridge and its reflection in the water form a perfect circle, resembling a full moon. Perhaps due to its beautiful design and long history, I found it particularly enchanting. After visiting two attractions, it was almost 4 PM, so we immediately set off for a photoshoot near the Yulong River. Mr. Liao first drove to pick up the pre-prepared balloon props and then took us to a hotel that rented electric cars. After my partner learned to drive, we set off for the photoshoot. Our shooting locations included small paths, countryside fields, and a section of the Yulong River. We drove and walked. Mr. Liao used a drone and professional camera to capture the beautiful Yangshuo landscape and our memories. This was my birthday gift to myself this year, a memorable one. Special thanks to my partner for enduring the cold weather to drive and to Mr. Liao for his dedicated and meticulous photography and editing. Since we received all the raw footage, we can continue to enjoy editing and color grading it ourselves after we return home! Guilin - Yangshuo|||D4️⃣: As you have to go to Yangshuo from Guilin, we went to Guilin first and then to Yangshuo the next day. 🥘In Guilin, you can go to Zhengyang Pedestrian Street → Dongxi Lane → Xiaoyao Tower. Food: Xiaozhuozi Luosifen, Jialouye, Ganlao Luosifen, Glutinous Rice. D5️⃣: Have a bowl of Guilin Rice Noodles (CNY 5 for 100 g) at 8:00 am, and take a 30-minute high-speed train to Yangshuo. --------------Next destination: Yangshuo----------------- D5️⃣: Take a bus to Yangshuo County from Yangshuo Station, rent an electric bike after getting off, and ride to Ten-Mile Gallery. (CNY 60 per day during the National Day holiday) 🏕The most worthwhile activity in Yangshuo is 🛶 Yulong River Bamboo Rafting. Buy tickets in advance on the mini program (Yulong River Scenic Area Bamboo Rafting). Tickets are hard to get during holidays. I found a scalper on Xianyu. The ticket for a double bamboo raft at Shui'e Di Pier is CNY 280. The whole trip takes 30 minutes, with 4 up and down dams. Give the rafter a tip to slow down if they perform well. The whole landscape is Ten-Mile Gallery. Don't use navigation, as you are already in Ten-Mile Gallery. Return the bike in the county, take a bus to Xingping Ancient Town, check in at the CNY 20 scenic spot, stroll around the commercial ancient street (boring), take a bus to the high-speed train station, and return to Guilin. ---------------Next destination: Guilin-------------------- D6️⃣: 🍲Continue to eat rice noodles, such as Axiu Rice Noodles, Stuffed Snails, Ganlao Pig Trotter Luosifen, 88 Niuchang Suan, Luosifen Duck Feet Pot, Xianluoshuang Liuzhou Old Brand Luosifen, Yao Oil Tea (very bad), and Guangxi Lipu Taro Strips.
