🐘 Sighting in Minneriya National Park 🇱🇰
Going on a safari is one of the activities that you should not miss in Sri Lanka. One of the world’s most spectacular wildlife phenomenon that you can find in the island nation is the elephant gathering in Minneriya National Park. Located in the north-central province of Sri Lanka, Minneriya National Park is home to hundreds of Asian elephants which thrive on the Minneriya Tank, a reservoir built around 1700 years ago.
The national park can only be explored by safari jeeps. We hired a jeep from Sigiriya and reached the entrance of national park in an hour. The jeep traveled through a forest before reaching the Minneriya Tank where we spotted herds of elephants and buffaloes by the reservoir. We were also fortunate to sight some other wild animals like foxes and native birds.

Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka
My husband and I went to Sri Lanka the last two weeks of July and it was an amazing experience.
"Pearl of South Asia" has many amazing adventures to offer: you can dive into Buddhist Culture, you can see many wild and free animals on safari (elephant, buffalo, bear and leopard!), you can see mother turtle laying eggs below sand, you can enjoy the best sunset in Mihintale and for sure you will find what is spicy!
Special thanks to Tarika who helped us in defining and organizing every step of the tour, with great professionalism and kindness.

Polonnaruwa Ancient City
#Southeast Asia Travel
A visit to the ancient city of Bolognaroa in Sri Lanka was an incredible exploration of history and culture. When I arrived in the city, I found myself in the midst of a unique historical experience. Polonnaroa, an important medieval archaeological site, is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Enjoy a walking tour and explore the ruins, temples, and ancient palaces. I noticed the fascinating geometric details and intricate inscriptions that still decorate the existing structures today. I visited important temples such as the Gal Vihara Temple, the Langtatelika Temple, and the Topahani Temple. I wandered among the pillars, stone statues, and the amazing artificial lakes that reflected the city’s ancient civilization. Frescoes, religious statues, and historical buildings provided precious details of the previous civilization. A visit to the ancient city of Bolognaro is a time travel to explore the wonderful culture and history of Sri Lanka, and provides an opportunity to learn and be inspired by the ancient civilization that reflects the uniqueness of architecture, art, and creativity.

Srilankan PolRoti
Sri Lankan pol roti is a beloved staple in Sri Lankan cuisine, renowned for its simplicity, versatility, and delicious flavor. This traditional flatbread is a common sight in Sri Lankan households and street food stalls alike. Made from a straightforward dough of grated coconut, flour, water, and salt, pol roti is easy to prepare yet offers a delightful blend of textures and flavors.
To make pol roti, grated coconut is mixed with flour to form a dough, which is then seasoned with salt and kneaded until smooth. Water is added gradually to achieve the right consistency. The dough is divided into portions, which are shaped into balls and flattened into thin rounds by hand. These rounds are then cooked on a hot griddle or flat pan until golden brown and crispy on the outside, with a soft and tender interior.
The beauty of pol roti lies in its versatility. While delicious on its own, it is often served alongside savory accompaniments such as sambal, a spicy chili paste, or various curries. Pol roti pairs particularly well with coconut sambal, a condiment made from grated coconut, chili peppers, lime juice, and spices. The combination of the crispy, slightly charred roti and the spicy, tangy sambal is simply irresistible.
In addition to its savory variations, pol roti can also be enjoyed as a sweet treat. In this version, the dough may be sweetened with sugar or jaggery and flavored with aromatic spices such as cardamom or cinnamon. It can be served with a drizzle of honey or alongside sweet accompaniments like coconut milk or fruit compote.
Pol roti is not only delicious but also nutritious. Coconut, a key ingredient in pol roti, is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, while the flour provides carbohydrates for energy. This makes pol roti a satisfying and wholesome meal option that can be enjoyed any time of day.
Whether enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Sri Lankan pol roti is sure to delight the senses with its irresistible aroma, crispy texture, and delicious flavor. With its simple yet satisfying preparation, it's no wonder that pol roti holds a special place in the hearts and palates of Sri Lankans everywhere.

Hatadage
Hatadage is an ancient temple located in the Polonnaruwa region of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, situated opposite the circular stupa Vatadage. The temple was built by King Nissanka Malla (AD 1187-1196), and an inscription on a nearby stone slab indicates that it was once used to house the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha.
The architectural dimensions of Hatadage are 120 feet in length and 60 feet in width, and its features suggest that it was originally a two-story building with stone stairs leading to the upper floor, and the ground floor was likely made of wood. Remains of three Buddha statues were discovered on the first floor.
Moreover, Hatadage is located within the quadrangle of Polonnaruwa, right next to the Atadage on the east side. It is said that this shrine was built in 60 days, 'Hata' in Sinhala means 60, representing the duration of the construction period, and 'Dage' means 'relic temple'. There is also a huge stone book called Gal Pota beside the site, which is 9 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, 66 centimeters thick, and weighs 25 tons. This stone book is said to have been transported from Mihintale, a hundred kilometers away, and the Sinhala inscriptions on it narrate the exploits of King Nissanka Malla in resisting Indian invasions and his diplomatic relations with various countries. Therefore, a large number of tourists come here every year to visit and check in.

Sri Lanka Trip: The Parliament Building of Polonnaruwa Ancient City
Palazzo della Ragione in Bolzano
The Palazzo della Ragione in Bolzano was used by the emperor at the time to receive ministers, advisors, and foreign envoys. The stone lions at the entrance are a symbol of sovereignty. The council hall is built on a high stone pedestal made of huge stones. The wooden ceiling of the hall is long gone, leaving only lonely stone pillars standing there. The steps of the council hall are divided into three sections. There is a beautiful moonstone on the ground at the entrance of the first two sections, and the left and right sides of the third section are guarded by mythical beasts. The railing and the design of the mythical beasts on both sides of each step are extremely clever and perfect. There are many exquisite animal patterns carved on the stone foundation and pillars around the council hall, and the names of the ministers are also engraved on the pillars. You don't need to call out their names, just look at which pillar is missing a name to know who didn't show up...

In Sri Lanka, go to the Minnesota National Wildlife Refuge to get close to the most primitive nature. Sitting in the open-top jeep, jolting in the most primitive nature, in a country that pays attention to the ecological harmony of nature from the bones, this is the most primitive. I saw the elephant for the first time, and the elephant passed by your car. It is said that there will be more than 200 crossings in the cluster. It was a little hot that day, but everything was worth it.

[Sri Lanka's original ecological experience | See hundreds of wild elephants]
Recommended index:
If you want to see the most original natural environment and wildlife groups, then sit on a special open-top jeep Going deep into nature is the best way.
Located in central Sri Lanka, between the Siglia and Polonnaruwa, the mi Neya National Park is the most important habitat for the wild elephants in Sri Lanka. Here, you can see hundreds of wild elephants at close range, which is very spectacular! Very large-scale elephants, some grazing in leisure, some strolling in the idle, even if the jeep parked close to them to watch the film, it does not affect the good mood of the wild elephants.
Before entering the Minneapolis country, you must first sit on the open-top jeep, passing through the jungle, meadows, rivers, hills and lakes along the way. Monkeys, peacocks, various birds... appear in everyone In the field of vision. Unfortunately, my wide-angle lens is difficult to capture the small animal pythons with this line of sight.
"Amphibious" Jeep has just climbed through the river and climbed up the high hills, attracting a car to exclaim. This jeep's bumpy feeling is really comparable to the desert sands. !
tips:
1 It takes about three hours to get back and forth in the open-air jeep to visit the Mineriya National Park. The sand is very large during the process. It is recommended to wear sunglasses and try to wrap the face with a scarf.
2The convertible can stand up and watch at any time while on the road, but there are jungles on the road. The terrain varies and you must pay attention to safety.

The Lake Hotel was set up two days before going to Sri Lanka. I saw the introduction and comments of the website. I was really looking forward to it. Especially at the Polonnaruwa station, I would like to talk to the driver about Lake, and they will immediately understand it. When the TUTU car stopped, it looked up and it was shining in front of it.
The lake hoetl The biggest highlight is the lake view. Lying on the bed in the room, you can see the lake and the mountains outside the window. This is also the most attractive place for the hotel. Enjoy the sun and the breeze by the small pool. Lake scenery has a leisurely vacation over the island.
Polonnaruwa ancient city tour tips:
1, Polonnaruwa has three different areas: the ancient town, close to the monuments, close to the reservoir; the new town, with all other new hair Like the opening section, there are no attractions to play, but the accommodation conditions are better; Kadu Nu Vila, four kilometers east of the ancient town, railway station, bus station, shops here, convenient transportation, but no attractions to play.
2, the monuments of Polonnaruwa are scattered, the distance between the attractions is far away, you can consider renting a car, the best choice for bicycles, TUTU is also good.
3, it is worth visiting in the monuments, the auditorium, the courtyard, the palace, the archaeological museum, etc.
4, the monuments are hidden in the depths of the bushes, pay attention to insect-proof sunscreen.

Because there was not much time, and Yala National Park was temporarily closed, I only went to Minneriya National Park. Located between Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa, Minneriya National Park has forests, lakes and plenty of wildlife. I can see what animals, but also look at the characters. We only saw a few vigilant foxes when we started. It was good to take a picture, and the fox ran fast. Good luck people see a group of elephants.

Located in the northeastern part of Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa is the ancient capital of Sri Lanka's second dynasty. It flourished in the 11th-13th centuries AD and was abandoned after the invasion of foreign enemies in the 14th century. It was not until the early 20th century that modern cities were established here. Most of the monuments left here are built in the 12th century. The ancient city is a large-scale building and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Polonnaruwa bus station and train station are located at Kaduruwela, four kilometers east of the ancient city, near the main road of Batticaloa.
From Cologne, the bus and train are in the direction of Colombo -Batticaloa. About 6 or 7 hours.

In 1982, UNESCO listed the ancient city of Polonnaruwa as a cultural heritage on the World Heritage List. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa is located in the northeastern part of Sri Lanka, 216 km northeast of the capital Colombo. In 933 AD, Polonnaruwa became the capital of Sri Lanka. The monuments in the ancient city can be roughly divided into five areas: the palace complex, the square courtyard, the northern monuments, the historical hotel (that is, the bank of the reservoir), the southern monuments (on the way to the new town) and some sporadic monuments. . Figure 2 Sathmahal Prasada, meaning seven-level stupa looks a bit like a step pyramid, which is a rather strange building in Sri Lanka. Figure 7 is the largest in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, and is the fourth largest pagoda in Lanca, RANKOT VIHARA, which is carved from a whole piece of Huanggang rock. The lines of different rock layers of the rock itself flow through the face and body of the Buddha, adding a mysterious vicissitudes of beauty.

The ancient city of Polonnaruwa was established in the Sinhala Dynasty at the end of the 10th century. It was the best Buddhist city in Southeast Asia in the 12th century. In the area of about 5x2 km, there are many amazing sites left. In the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, not only the Brahmin ruins of the Kaulasian period, but also the remains of the fabulous garden city built in the 12th century by Paraklama I. At the end of the 10th century, the national capital and Buddhist center Anuradhapura began to decline, and Polonnaruwa became famous for its replacement. From 1059 to 1207, along with the prosperity of Polonnaruwa, the level of architecture has reached a level of perfection. There is an artificial reservoir larger than the area of Colombo Bay - the Borogaroa Sea. You can also visit the King's Parliament Building, the Royal Castle, the Royal Pavilion, the memorial hall with moonstones and carved railings, and the finest carvings. A huge Buddha statue. In addition to the way of chartered tours, cycling is also good, the price of renting a bicycle is about 50 yuan a day.

Polonnaruwa is known as the second capital of Sri Lanka and is the seat of government from the 11th to the 13th century.
Palace ruins, ancient temples, royal bathroom ruins, sacrificial round altars, people who are not familiar with the history of Ceylon, take off their shoes under the scorching sun and take off their sunglasses for a long time. It is also tiring...
despite their history I don't know, but I still feel the thickness of history before those ruins, and I wondered what was happening here before the millennium.
35 degrees of high temperature surface temperature of at least seventy-eight degrees, wearing sports socks feel hot feet......
YAO SHUN.
It is most convenient to have a chartered driver in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. The driver will take each classic one by one, without having to worry about it. Although the distance between these buildings is not too far, it is still too much to walk if it is under the scorching sun. Even if we chartered between the attractions, it still feels very hot and very hard. If there is no car, it is recommended to rent a bicycle. Just follow the order in front of the museum entrance map. It is rare to see the sale of water in the ancient city, but there are golden coconuts that can be bought to quench your thirst. If you visit it carefully, it will take about a whole day. You can bring some snacks, but don't throw the peel. The locals pay attention to protecting the environment. When we went, we just caught up with the Hindus in the Shiva Temple on the 2nd Shiva Festival. Both adults and children are dressed in celebrations. I invite everyone to take a selfie and the locals are happy to take pictures. There are many monkeys running around in the ancient city.
