We stayed at a beautiful place. The apartment was simply luxurious—one room was a suite with its own bathroom, while the other was more modest but still had a shower and toilet. There was also a living room and kitchen. A major highlight was the stunning views from the windows and the clean beach with warm, gentle sea waters.

The hotel room is comfortable, the atmosphere is historic and the location means you can walk straight out the door and continue your journey the next morning. ✨ Highlight: Waking up to river views after crossing the border on foot. 💡 Worth every penny if you want to treat yourself on night one. · -- 📍 Redondela Apartment ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) A solid mid-point stay. Self check-in, spacious room and conveniently located right on the Camino route — which makes the morning start easy. One downside worth knowing: there are no stamps to collect here, which might matter if you're keeping your Pilgrim Passport up to date. ✨ Highlight: Spacious room and easy access to the route. ⚠️ Miss: No pilgrim stamp available. · -- 📍 Parador de Pontevedra ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Another Parador — and another highlight of the whole walk. This one has a cosier feel compared to Tui, and the location near Pontevedra's historic centre means you're a short walk from some of the best food on the entire route. After a long day of walking, being able to step out for dinner in a beautiful old town square made all the difference. ✨ Highlight: Location, character and the historic centre right on your doorstep. · -- 📍 Hotel Lotus ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) Simple and straightforward. Basic in terms of facilities, but comfortable enough after a long day on the Camino. Exactly what you need when your legs are tired and sleep is the priority. ✨ Highlight: Comfortable and functional — does the job well. · -- 📍 Os Lambráns ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) The hidden gem of this route. The location is slightly off the main Camino path, which I'd normally count against a place — but the food here is genuinely delicious, the service is warm and attentive, and they have the most adorable pilgrim stamps I collected on the entire walk. If you don't mind a small detour and no aircon in the room, it's completely worth it. ✨ Highlight: Food, service and the cutest stamps on the route. 💡 Tip: Factor in the slight detour from the main path. · -- 📍 Hotel Gelmírez — Santiago de Compostela ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Honest confession: my first choice was the Parador de Santiago — but it was fully booked. So I settled for Hotel Gelmírez instead… and it turned out to be a great alternative. The room is spacious — and after days of walking, the bathtub to soak your legs was genuinely one of the best moments of the whole trip. It's also very close to the train station, which makes leaving Santiago so much easier the next day. Not my original plan — but no regrets. ✨ Highlight: Bathtub, spacious room and great location near the train station. 💡 Tip: Book Parador de Santiago as early as possible — it sells out fast. If it's gone, Hotel Gelmírez is a solid plan B. · -- After walking from Valença all the way to Santiago de Compostela, the accommodations made more of a difference than I expected. The two Paradors (Tui and Pontevedra) stood out the most — but every stop had something that made it worth it. What a wonderfully maintained apartment complex with spacious apartments. As a family of four with two kids, we had a roomy apartment featuring three ensuite bathrooms. It was impeccably clean, with thorough cleaning and fresh bedding every three days! The service was outstanding. Every morning, the pool area was thoroughly prepared and cleaned by a dedicated team. The pool chair reservation system worked perfectly! The kids' animation team was very entertaining, though a bit more variety could be added, but overall it was well-organized! The only drawback, albeit minor, was that the nearby walking-distance restaurants seemed a bit outdated. However, renting a car made it easy to explore charming nearby towns! In short, this resort deserves a solid 10! We’d love to return!

The apartment was incredibly clean and stylish. The view was truly world-class, and the location was absolutely perfect. The only unexpected part was the 50 steps leading up to the apartment, but they were absolutely worth it! Just remember to consider your luggage when planning. Completely satisfied and would recommend without hesitation!

The city is home to many historical sites, such as the Praza da Ferrer‰Ûª_a, the old quarter, and the Praza de Le‰Ûªå±a. Visitors can also enjoy the city's beautiful beaches, such as Silgar and Caneli‰Ûªå±as. The highlight of Pontevedra is its traditional Galician cuisine, which is known for its delicious seafood dishes.

Pontevedra in Galicia has beautiful scenery and rich history. When you come here, these three places are not to be missed! ⭐One of the largest and most elegant historic neighborhoods (P1-P3) in the whole of Galicia, located on the edge of the Pontevedra estuary, with a network of streets and squares and containing the main municipal and religious buildings. ⭐Atlantic Islands National Park (Parque Nacional de las Islas Atlánticas, P4-P6), which includes the Islas de las Islas Atlánticas (P4-P6). 4. COMBARRO Not far from the ancient city of Pontevedra by the sea, there is a small town called Combarro. I still remember the local Spanish travelers from Alicante in the south of Spain. In addition to the Way of St. James, Combarro is also something they marvel and take pride in, just like the Great Wall of China! No matter how far the journey is, they want to witness it with their own eyes! Combarro has the three most representative architectural elements of Galicia, 'Hórreos' (raised granaries), 'Casas marineras' (sea houses) and Cross. Obviously, the architecture here is full of these three unique elements. Walking along the coast, you can see the old stone granaries everywhere, and the cross on top of the granaries, as well as the seaside houses of fishermen and residents. This is the first time I have set foot on this land that seems ancient and yet reveals human culture. It is completely different from all the Spanish cities and towns I have seen. Walking along the coast seems to have a Viking era feeling, imagining those movies related to the sea and fishermen, and quickly getting into character. Every street and corner that needs to be wandered forward is like a scene carved in novels and movies. The occasional grass and flowers on the wall, the strolling cats, and the ancient wells and high crosses on each plaza have quietly left a piece of my heart here...

Jose Malvar Figueroa, 46D, 36002 Pontevedra The Tirantes Bridge is a balanced tower cable-stayed bridge that spans the Lleres River in the Spanish city of Pontevedra, connecting the left and right banks in the north of the city at the height of the Congress Palace. The bridge was designed in 1992 by Leonardo Fernández Troyano and Francisco Javier Manterola Armisen and inaugurated in 1995. It is one of the 33 most unique bridges in Spain. The construction of the bridge was planned by the Galician government in the early 1990s to connect the two banks of the Leres River as part of an urban planning project to develop an ancient marsh in the northeastern part of the city on dry land land. The project includes the construction of the Pontevedra Congress Palace and Exhibition Center and a cable-stayed bridge serving as the city's northern exit. The jury for the preliminary design competition for the bridge, chaired by José Cuíña, MP for Territorial Policy, Public Works and Housing of the Junta de Galicia, announced its decision on 15 December 1991. The construction of the bridge was influenced by the tides at the mouth of the Pontevedra River, with sea level changes of more than 4 metres. This situation forced the construction process to be independent of water, and the bridge had to be built using a continuous cantilever system. Church of the Virgin Peregrina Igrexa da Virxe Peregrina Praza da Peregrina, 5, 36001 Pontevedra The Church of the Pilgrim Virgin is a religious building located in the city of Pontevedra in Galicia (Spain). It is composed of a scallop-shaped chapel located at the foot of the Camino de Santiago in Portugal. It began to be built in 1778 and is one of the most symbolic and relevant buildings in the city of Pontevedra. It is dedicated to the Virgin, who, according to tradition, guides the pilgrims from Bayonne to Santiago. The church houses the statue of the Virgin Peregrina (Virxe da Peregrina, 19th century), who is the patron saint of the province of Pontevedra and also the guardian of the Portuguese Way. It was declared a historical-artistic monument in 1982, merging late Baroque and Neoclassical forms, such as the main altarpiece built in 1789. The inspiration for its floor plan comes from the scallop shell, a typical symbol of the pilgrim, with a cross at the end. Admiral Casto Méndez Núñez donated a huge Tridacna shell, which he brought back from the Pacific on one of his many voyages, and it is located at the entrance of the church, serving as a stoup. The first restoration of the temple took place in 1981, to repair serious structural damage (large cracks in the building due to foundation movement). It was carried out by César Portela and José Bar Boo. The second most important restoration work took place in 2008, repairing elements such as stained glass windows, walls, paintings and the clock tower. This is a centrally planned church. The inspiration for its floor plan comes from the scallop shell, a characteristic symbol of the pilgrim, with a cross engraved inside the shell. The floor plan is circular, but by including the foyer, it presents the shape of a scallop shell. The circular hall that makes up the temple itself is made up of four grooved wall pillars, supporting low front arches, with protruding cornices above.
