That’s right those are real Cadillacs you see buried in the ground. The Cadillac Ranch is located just off the highway in beautiful Amarillo Texas. I came across this crazy roadside attraction as I was driving to all 50 states in the United States. Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas There's no parking fee. There's a cart selling souvenirs and spray cans at the entrance. #summervacay Cadillac Ranch is weird and wonderful. Ten old Cadillacs half-buried in a dusty field, completely covered in graffiti—and yes, you get to paint them too. I brought a few cans of spray paint and added my name to the ever-changing art installation. The wide open sky and Texas heat made it feel like a desert art dream. Standing along Route 66 west of Amarillo, Texas, Cadillac Ranch was invented and built by a group of art-hippies imported from San Francisco. They called themselves The Ant Farm, and their silent partner was Amarillo billionaire Stanley Marsh 3. He wanted a piece of public art that would baffle the locals, and the hippies came up with a tribute to the evolution of the Cadillac tail fin.
