Beautiful green hill scenery combined with beautiful Lake Toba
Tired feet and breath climbing each step and hill path are paid off with the natural grace that stretches on the left and right sides, front and back. The beauty of the hills and lakes seems to eliminate the extraordinary tiredness.
Must be visited and determined to climb.
Not far from here there is also a prayer room but if you can walk 500 meters before there is a fairly large mosque

samosir island , Lake Toba
Situated @ North Sumatera , Indonesia. This beautiful nature island provides you with great view of the world 3rd largest volcano lake and mountain. it’s the best place to relax one mind and soul, the accommodation also easily available. You can rent a motorbike @ 100k to 150 k to round the whole lake and village and I can’t get enough with the recent 4D3N stay!!!
Volcanic island Samosir in Lake Toba
Lake Toba is a magical natural wonder of the world. It is the largest volcanic lake and one of the deepest lake worldwide.
Samosir island is located inside the super volcano, surrounded by Toba Lake.
It is the perfect spot to relax peacefully and to enjoy the moment, dip into the lake in the mornings, listen to the birds and absorb the beautiful scenery.
For those who have difficulties with tropical weather, Samosir is the perfect location as the lake sits 900 mètres above sea level and therefore the climate is cooler, average 25°C, no humidity and free from pollution.
Closest Airports are Kualanamo International Airport in Medan and Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport in Siborong-borong.
From there you can get a cab which you can easily find when exiting the airport and drive to Parapat, the town of Lake Toba. Once arrived in Parapat you take a boat to Samosir Island.
Kuala Namo to Parapat by car takes ca. 3,5 hrs. The boat from Parapat can get you to Tomok or Tuk Tuk depending where your destination is. Boat ride takes about 30-45min.
There are so many ways to enjoy Samosir and Lake Toba. Kayaking in Lake Toba is amazing. I recommend to go with a local guide, visiting caves and waterfalls.
A boat trip to the "Crocodile Beach". No worries, there are no crocodiles, but your going to visit a waterfall and one of the deepest area of the lake.
Visiting traditional villages and the traditional Batak houses are also a must. Locals living on the island are the Batak tribes who are known to be friendly and for their festive culture. They are also known for their authentic wood carvings, handwoven textiles called Ulos which is considered as a ceremonial gift during a human's life cycle from birth, wedding to death.
There are many other activities, such as the Hot springs, circling the island by motorbike or bicycle, hiking etc..
One of the best place to stay on Samosir island is Tuk Tuk Timbul. The bungalows are nice with view to the lake.

Aji Bata Ferry Terminal to Samosir Island
Aji Bata Ferry Terminal is one of the main ports of entry and exit for Samosir Island, located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The terminal is situated on the eastern side of Samosir Island, on the edge of Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world.
The ferry terminal is named after the nearby Aji Bata village, and it serves as a transportation hub for both locals and tourists who want to travel to and from Samosir Island. The ferry terminal provides regular ferry services to and from the mainland, with boats departing from the terminal several times a day.
Two types of ferries operate from the Aji Bata Ferry Terminal - the passenger ferries and the car ferries. The passenger ferries are smaller and provide basic transportation services for individuals and small groups. The car ferries, on the other hand, are larger and can transport cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles, in addition to passengers. That makes this ferry terminal very popular for the visitor who drives their car to Samosir Island.
The journey from Aji Bata Ferry Terminal to the mainland takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on weather conditions and the type of ferry being used.
Overall, Aji Bata Ferry Terminal is an important transportation hub that provides easy access to and from Samosir Island, allowing travelers to explore the island's natural beauty, culture, and history.

Ancient Batak Village on Samosir Island
Huta Siallagan was my last stop of Samosir round the island trip as it was within walking distance to my hotel in Tuk-Tuk Timbul.
In the Batak language, Huta Siallagan means the Village of Siallagan Clan. The village was founded by King Siallagan hundreds of years ago.
There are a number of traditional Bolon and Sopo houses which are traditional houses of the Batak people. At the center of Huta Siallagan you can see two sets of large stones carved into chairs encircling a stone table. These stone furniture artifacts are called Batu Parsidangan, meaning “Stones for Meetings and Trials”.
Entrance fee Rp10,000.

Batu Passa, Samosir Island
Batu Passa comes from the word Passa Passa in the Batak language which means a place for farmers in the middle of a rice field to repel birds that eat rice. It is located on the shores of Lake Toba, Sangkal Village, Simanindo District, Samosir Regency.
There is an iconic tree that grows very near to the water surrounded by big rocks. The rocks in this place make it one of the exotic places in Samosir Regency.
It's definitely an insta worthy place! This place is not crowded and completely free to visit. You can park close to the shore at the empty space available. Many people stop here for pictures and you can even have picnics here.

King Siallagan's Stone Chair
There were several Batak traditional houses, some of them are still occupied and has more modern style construction attached behind the traditional houses.
These stone chairs used to be the place where the king sat down and holding a meeting with his advisers. This is the place where the stuff regarding the cannibalism of Batak tribe started. There's a table in this site where they would put the enemies to be killed and they would eat their hearts as a ritual to prevent the black magic from rising.
Here the atmosphere is a lot quieter (we were the only ones there) and more spooky when you know what actually took place there all those years ago. I would definitely recommend going here as well as the slightly busier attraction in Ambarita. So interesting, eerie and amazing.

Discover the Serene Beauty of Lake Toba in Indonesia
Lake Toba is the name of a beautiful lake on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. There is an island in the lake called Samosir Island.
It is an island with a large Christian population, where there are few food restrictions and you can enjoy your time freely. I had a great time experiencing the traditional houses and food of the Batak people who have lived on the island for a long time.
It is a place rich in nature and was a bit cooler than other parts of Indonesia. There are also plenty of water activities, so it seems like a fun place to go with family and friends!
Since there are few transportation options to the island, it's a good idea to check the bus schedule or taxi stands before you go. I went from Silangit Airport, but I ended up taking a taxi because I couldn't find the bus stop.

Thrilling Journey and time in Lake Toba, ID
Embarked on a thrilling week jet skiing across Lake Toba, starting in Medan. Taxi rides to Parapat offered scenic glimpses. Days were a blend of aquatic adventures and serene moments, while evenings found solace in local churches, immersing in the cultural tapestry of Indonesia. A perfect fusion of adrenaline and spiritual reflection in the heart of Sumatra. Enjoy the hot springs too. #mytravelhacks #indonesia #familytrip
A Habitable Volcanic Island On A Lake
Item : Samosir or Samosir Island located in Lake Toba
Location : 2.6273° N, 98.7922° E
Getting here :1) Kuala Namu International Airport then drive to Parapat then take a boat to the Island. OR 2) I chose to Land at Silangit Airport take a pte car with driver and drive thru a sceenic view throughout the journey.
Worth the Visit : 100% 💯
Samosir Island is literally a volcanic island located in the middle of Lake Toba. This place gives you an island vibes. So chill and so slow paced. I suggest bringing your kick scooter or long board or skateboard. You can also rent a bicycle. I chose to cycle around the island. You can also hike. I hiked the Bukit Holbung. Goodness gracious the view is phenomenal. There is no piblic transport in the island but there are local around that you can hire with a bike so you just pillion them. You can nego the price. I will definitely come back here again. Lake toba is majority Batak community so it is hard to find Muslim food. There are but very few halal restaurants. I lodge in a Lake Front Chalet overlooking the lake. Can be a bit scary for city dwellers like myself because I'm so used to noise. So when you come here, you can just hear crickets, frogs and the sound of the water crashing the land.
