Spring outing plan: Visit Fengxian, near Shanghai, to see the rapeseed flowers.
Besides Wufang Village, which hosts the Peach Blossom Festival, there's another popular village in Fengxian, Shanghai called Liyao Village. This was our second stop on our day trip to Fengxian. The village is known for its pastoral scenery and artsy shops. In spring, the rapeseed flowers bloom, creating vast fields of blossoms against the backdrop of white walls and gray tiles – entering the village feels like stepping into Dali!
🎈The trendy balloons and flower fields with haystacks are perfect for taking photos!
The village also has a kiln-baked bread shop 🍞. The brick kiln, fruitwood fire, and slow baking create a comforting atmosphere with bread, sunshine, and a sea of flowers – a truly healing experience. Unfortunately, the bread was sold out when we visited, so we spent most of our time taking pictures. The village is small, with trendy cafes, farm-style restaurants, and some stylish shops – a very pleasant place to stroll around.
📍Liyao Village is located in Qingcun Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai. Free admission. See rapeseed flowers in spring and rice paddies in autumn.
🚗For those driving, simply use navigation. There is parking in the village, but spaces are limited; you can park on the roadside at the back. Parking is difficult on weekends.
🚌By bus: Take Metro Line 8 to "Chendu Highway Station", transfer to Fengxian Bus Route 22 (towards "Qingcun Station"), get off at "Liyao Village Station", and walk for 10 minutes to reach the village entrance.
🌹Village must-sees:
🎗️Wuyou Xianyuan (Worry-Free Leisure Courtyard): Located to the left of the village entrance archway, it's very popular. It's said to be a converted farm tool warehouse, giving it a rural feel with 360-degree pastoral scenery. It offers coffee and desserts, a great place to chat, relax, and daydream.
🎗️Shixia Coffee: Offers kiln-baked bread and pizza. Sasa, coffee, and light meals are available. The second-floor windows offer panoramic views of the countryside. Outside, there are popular balloon and swing spots for photos. You can see the kiln oven as soon as you enter; the bread might be sold out if you arrive late 😂
🎗️Rapeseed flower scenery – this is the main attraction in spring. There are also some haystacks for photos.
🎗️There are also some artsy shops and rustic restaurants, perfect for dining and strolling.
🔺Tips:
