The boardwalk extends into the lake’s center, reflecting snow-capped mountains. It’s so quiet you only hear the wind. ② Have a flat white at Mrs Woolly's Campstore. This small shop is in an old wooden house with climbing gear hanging on the walls. The vibe is amazing☕ ③ If you’re up for it, the Routeburn Track entrance is nearby. Walk the first two hours to the first suspension bridge and then turn back. The trail goes through pristine forest, and the creek under the bridge is an unreal shade of green. ⚠️ The latter half of this road is gravel. It can be slippery when wet, so an SUV is recommended. Even in summer, low clouds can cause cancellations. It’s best to leave an extra day in Queenstown as a backup. Buy steak, refrigerate it, and cook it yourself. Eating dinner on the balcony with a mountain view beats any restaurant🥩 One last thing: summer days in Queenstown are ridiculously long.
