Many travelers consider Rabat a fallen gem of North Africa, deep and beautiful, yet often overlooked. If you ask ten people what the capital of Morocco is, probably eight of them would say Casablanca. Rabat is much less known compared to Casablanca, yet it is the actual capital of Morocco. Rabat is located on the Atlantic coast and enjoys a spring-like climate all year round. To many tourists, Rabat seems more like a transit point, even though it has many historical sites, it is not as attractive as Marrakech and the ancient city of Fez. The whole city is low-key and friendly, with vehicles on the road always yielding to pedestrians, and the shopkeepers in the old town market are kind and simple. This is our last stop on our trip to Morocco. We walked along the seaside and eventually discovered that there are still many ancient ruins reflecting Morocco's long and splendid ancient civilization, including mausoleums, mosques, palaces, and the Kasbah of the Udayas. Another great viewing spot is a group of bungalows by the sea next to the fortress, originally a Portuguese military prison, later turned into a restaurant after the French occupation. Hassan tower boast a lovely plaza. It is a lot of beauty in one location. Great place to go for a read, date, walk or to take photos. When the weather is nice and the birds are chirping the atmosphere here is really soothing. As a traveler this is definitely a great place to visit and experience art and culture of Rabat. The first museum dedicated to photography, Morocco’s National Photography Museum, provides a space for young artists to express themselves. The museum showcases photography in a beautifully renovated 19th-century fort, complementing the artwork that hangs inside.

Riad Meftaha is located at 15 Rue Iran, Rabat 10000, Morocco, in the heart of the city Rabat, walking distance to the medina, the souks and the sea. Riad in Morocco is a large traditional house built around a central courtyard, often converted into guesthouses or hotels. Most of them have a rooftop terrace for you to view the surroundings. Around an authentic patio, Riad Meftaha had a large reception room where you also have your breakfast here. Local Morocco mint tea is served with cookies during check in . A rooftop terrace for you to relax and enjoy the sun. A 19 meter square queen sized bed room with air conditioner and a small TV. Bathroom amenities are provided and free WIFI access. Breakfast is included, the owner is a very nice girl, and recommends where to have my dinner and what to see around in rabat.

In the past, the banks of the Bouregreg river were a place of work for fishermen, games and outings for their inhabitants as well as service areas. Now a total length of 1.5 kilometers public quay will open during 2007. The banks of Rabat are now equipped with restaurants and cafes. People can walk, jog and cycle along the banks. Boats secure landing stages for crossing the river, or rental for a boat trip. Children's rides and fishing activities are also along the banks. Le Dhow is a high end ship restaurant station at the bank, not moving, where you can have your food and drink on the water. I had ordered a fried calamari, soup with prawns and squids, and an oreo shake at Marina Plam restaurant on the side of the bank. All are very nice.

Kasbah of the Udayas is located on a hill at the mouth of the Bou Regreg river, opposite Sale ( a city in northwestern Morocco ) and adjacent to the old medina of Rabat. Kasbah means Citadel is built in the 12th century, the monumental gate located uphill and overlooking Rabat below is considered one of most beautiful gates of Moroccan architecture built in between 1195 and 1199, it was inserted into the previous wall of Kasbah. The oldest current structure at the site is its main mosque construction in 1150. It is listed along with other sites in Rabat, as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, remains a popular free tourist attraction within Rabat, offering scenic views of Rabat waterfront.
