Desert Hills Outlets is one of my favorite places to shop when I want variety and a little bit retail adventure. There are so many different stores to explore, from luxury brands to everyday favorites and I always seem to find something I didn't know I needed. It is easy to spend a few hours wandering from shop to shop, and the deals make it even more satisfying. With endless, endless discounts from 50% up to 70%. This shopping outlet is an excellent stop for a day trip that combines retail therapy with adventure and entertainment. The bustling atmosphere and variety of brand offerings create a fun filled experience for all shoppers, whether they're on a budget or looking for high end items. The most popular spot is definitely the beautiful white cave pool and heated spa outdoors. It's a famous Instagrammable Airbnb😆 The location is great, very private and peaceful, like living inside a magazine. Soaking in the hot spring in the desert and stargazing at night is truly amazing😆 The interior uses earthy tones and natural materials, perfectly blending with the surrounding nature. Joshua Tree was so big and impressive that we really felt like we were in the US. There were big rock mountains and various sights along the way, so we never got bored. 🏜️ On the way to Joshua Tree National Park, we stumbled upon a free hidden spot tucked away in the desert! If you’re driving to Joshua Tree National Park, this is a great stop along the way. We were just passing by but unexpectedly found this unique small park by the roadside—Desert Christ Park. It’s not a popular attraction, the area is small, and you don’t need to set aside half a day. About 20 minutes is enough to walk through the whole park, making it a perfect quick stop before Joshua Tree. The park’s main feature is over 40 white sculptures scattered across the desert. These sculptures depict stories from the Bible, from Jesus’ birth and ministry to his suffering and resurrection, presented quietly against the barren desert backdrop. The white sculptures contrast strikingly with the yellow sand, cacti, and distant mountains, creating a special visual atmosphere that’s great for photos. There’s also a small stone chapel in the park with a very desert-style exterior. When we visited, it wasn’t open, so we could only view it from outside. If you happen to visit on an open day, it would feel even more special. What I find most captivating here isn’t the grandeur of the site itself but the peaceful atmosphere. There are few visitors, no commercial facilities, and no crowds—just the sound of the wind blowing through the desert. Standing here, you get a sense of time slowing down. Join us for a weekend hike in Los Angeles! Last weekend, we explored our 13th hiking trail, the Mount Rubidoux Trail. This trail is a classic and unique urban scenic path. The round trip is only 3.2 miles, making it an easy and beginner-friendly hike. The trail features gentle slopes and well-paved paths. Along the way, you'll enjoy a mix of greenery and rocks, and the view gradually opens up as you hike. At the top, you'll reach the iconic cross landmark, where you can overlook the cityscape. The stone structures at the summit are also quite distinctive, making for great photo opportunities. Everyone in our group had a fantastic time! It's my first time seeing donkeys in LA! We made a special trip to Riverside over the weekend to see wild donkeys. At first, I was worried we might not spot any, but before we even arrived, we were greeted by donkeys scattered all over the hills. There's a 1-hour hiking trail called Two Trees, but it's been too hot and sunny lately 🥵, so we decided not to take on the challenge. 🚗 Instead, you can directly search for Box Springs Mountain Reserve and drive up to the mountain top⛰️. There's a free parking lot 🆓, but it closes at 6 PM. Please note that feeding wild animals is not allowed 🥕.

For a weekend getaway, we chose Palm Springs. We looked around and finally chose this outdoor restaurant where you can listen to music for lunch. California is not just about the ocean, beaches, and palm trees. On the other side of the Coast Range, the Pacific moisture is blocked, and with subtropical high pressure overhead, the mountains form a closed basin. The soil gradually turns sandy, becoming a desert. In the Mojave Desert grows a unique tree called the Joshua tree. Joshua Tree National Park is named after this tree. In the mid-19th century, Mormon pioneers migrating west crossed the Southern California desert. They saw this plant’s branches reaching upward like outstretched fingers pointing the way and named it after the prophet Joshua. The desert gained fame thanks to a band: U2. In 1987, U2’s new album The Joshua Tree sold worldwide. The resilient Joshua trees growing in the California desert became a spiritual symbol for a generation, giving the barren wilderness a romantic rock vibe. After the album’s success, the once remote Joshua Tree wilderness instantly became a cultural landmark. Many fans came to visit, sparking desert culture, stargazing culture, and rock climbing culture. Joshua Tree National Park began to be recognized worldwide. Joshua trees grow very slowly. Combined with ongoing drought caused by global warming, many Joshua trees are dying, and seedlings struggle to survive. Scientists predict that in a few decades, Joshua trees will no longer grow naturally in the park. 🎞️ must-see spots 1. Hidden Valley, the densest valley of Joshua trees and a famous outdoor climbing spot in California. 2. Skull Rock, the park’s iconic landmark, located right beside the main road. 3. Cholla Cactus Garden, a fluffy silver cactus garden—do not touch its spines! 4. Keys View, the park’s highest viewpoint and the best place to watch the sunset. 5. Arch Rock, a short trail to heart-shaped granite rock formations. 🚗 how to get there? The park has three entrances: west, south, and north. Generally, visitors from Los Angeles use the west entrance; from San Diego, the south entrance; and from Las Vegas, the north entrance. 📑 essential travel checklist (must read!) 1. Water and food. There are no shops, restaurants, or supply stations inside the park, so bring your own snacks. Bring plenty of water!!! We stayed for a day and each drank about 2,500 ml of water. 2. Clothing: UV rays are very strong during the day. Bring sun-protective clothing, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses. Wear thick-soled, non-slip shoes because cactus spines can pierce soft soles! 3. Respect the desert. The visitor center’s sign boldly says “Do Not Die Today,” warning of the risks. 4. The park is large and can be explored by car to reduce time exposed to the sun outdoors. 5. Network devices: download offline maps in advance and mark key spots. Some areas have no cell signal. 6. Fuel: fill up in Joshua Tree town before entering the park. There are no gas stations inside. Because we were in a hurry, we didn’t wait for the sunset at Keys View. On the way out of the park, we saw a limping lone wolf slowly walking past a Joshua tree about to fall. This was the last scene Joshua Tree National Park left in our memory.

Woke up just after 5 a.m., munching on a homemade sourdough sandwich in the yard while watching the desert sunrise. Then I took a nap and woke up after 10 a.m. When I opened the door, it felt like an air fryer outside. No playing around for now, so I drove back to yesterday’s Walmart to restock some supplies. Around 3 or 4 p.m., when it wasn’t so hot, I set out. First, I went to the visitor center, bought some souvenirs, and picked up brochures. Entered from the north gate, then went to Skull Rock → Hidden Valley Nature Trail → Baker Dam Nature Trail → Keys View. Personally, I think except for Hidden Valley, which took a bit longer to walk, the rest were not difficult at all, with basically no climbing. Watching the sunset at Keys View, the Coachella Valley in front looked extremely stark under the shadow of the distant mountains. The long wind blew fiercely, bringing waves of coolness. Remember to bring a jacket. What surprised me today was the rich variety of vegetation here. Along the trails, there were many flowers, grasses, and berries I hadn’t seen back home, really different from the desert I had imagined.
