During my visit to Rome, I stopped by "Cantina e Cucina," a restaurant that's extremely popular among tourists. I arrived 10 minutes before opening because I wanted a seat with a view of the outside. At that time, there was no line, and I was the first in line! (However, by the time the restaurant opened, there were already three groups waiting behind me.) The lasagna was absolutely delicious, with rich, melty cheese that left me completely satisfied 😋. The carbonara featured thicker noodles than those in Japan, offering a chewy texture! I was amazed by the authentic richness and generous portions that only the real deal can provide. That day, after the restaurant opened, about six groups of Japanese tourists came in one after another. The staff even joked, "Is this Japan?!" 😂. As a side note, the pizza displayed at the entrance when the restaurant opens is apparently real, and according to the staff, birds often come to peck at it 😂. This place is said to be the birthplace of carbonara, and I finally got to savor the authentic taste I've been dreaming of 😋 I arrived right at their evening opening time of 7:00 PM. About three groups entered at the same time, and more customers came in shortly after, so I recommend making a reservation or arriving right at 7:00 PM if you plan to visit✨ The walls were covered with autographs, as it seems many celebrities have visited here! I even spotted the signature of a Japanese idol 💡 The richness of the egg and cheese, combined with the fact that no cream is used, made this authentic carbonara simple yet profoundly flavorful—completely different from the carbonara you find in Japan!✨ The penne was also larger and slightly firmer than what I'm used to in Japan.
