Finland, a dreamlike fairyland
So, when is the best time to travel to Finland?
It actually depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. If you are obsessed with snow and love various winter activities, then the period from December to March is an excellent choice.
If you are fond of the warm sun of spring and the nature just waking up from winter slumber, April to May would be the ideal time.
If you want to experience long and warm summer days and participate in a variety of activities, you should head to Finland in June, July, or August.
And if you want to enjoy the colorful and splendid autumn leaves, September to October is undoubtedly the best time.
The Lapland region, located at the northernmost tip of Finland, boasts mesmerizing year-round light phenomena and magnificent Arctic natural ecology. It is the home of the indigenous Sami people, as well as Santa Claus and his reindeer.
Helsinki region, this is a harbor city with vast water areas—Helsinki is one of the must-visit cities for tourists traveling in Finland. Here you will find natural trails, bustling city life, local delicacies, excellent design, interesting museums, and unique architecture everywhere.
Rovaniemi
Santa Claus Village, this is the hometown of Santa Claus, located right on the Arctic Circle.
Rovaniemi Reindeer Farm, visit the local reindeer farms in the outskirts of Rovaniemi to gain an in-depth understanding of Lapland culture and its wildlife. Ride a sleigh pulled by these native creatures along forest trails and enjoy the snowy scenery.
Saariselkä: Located in northern Finland, 500 kilometers deep into the Arctic Circle, it is the northernmost tourist destination on Earth. In winter, it is a skiing paradise, attracting many tourists who come to enjoy skiing. Due to its extreme northern location, it is the best place to watch the Northern Lights.
Inari: Inari is a town in Finland, located on the shores of Lake Inari in the northern part of the country. It is backed by the picturesque Lake Inari and has a Lapland cultural museum, with indoor and outdoor exhibits perfectly presenting the history, culture, lifestyle, and current situation of the Lapland people.

Sisters who are going to Finland to chase the aurora at Christmas, listen to my advice.
You must prepare a strategy before setting off.
How to chase the Aurora in Finland❓
What are the fun things to do in Finland❓
Don’t know English or local language❓
Don’t know the way? It’s convenient to live there❓
.
📣If you want to successfully catch the Aurora when traveling to Finland for the first time, it is recommended to find a local small group.
⭕You don’t have to worry about language, accommodation, getting lost, or stepping into pitfalls when traveling. Experienced Chinese guides will lead you to chase the aurora, observe the weather and measure the aurora value.
❌You don’t need to worry about it yourself! In a small group of 4-8 people, you don’t have to worry about too many people and the tour guide can’t take care of you. You can truly travel semi-freely, relaxedly and happily.
.
🔥【Itinerary Quick Overview】🔥
🚩Day 1: Helsinki-VR Aurora Train-Overnight Train
✅VR Aurora Train: Depart from Helsinki to Helsinki Central Station, take the Aurora Train to Rovaniemi, and stay overnight on the Aurora Train
.
🚩Day 2: Rovaniemi – Hometown of Santa Claus Village – Arctic Post Office – Reindeer Manor Kemi/Tornio
✅Santa Claus Village: Officially certified Santa Claus Village, you must experience three things here: receive a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle, take a photo with Santa Claus, and mail a blessing from Santa Claus
✅Visit the Reindeer Park: Experience reindeer pulling a sleigh and leisurely shuttle through the original ice and snow jungle. At that moment, you feel like the ice and snow queen patrolling her kingdom.
.
🚩Day 3: Kemi went to Sweden to participate in the polar icebreaker and experience the polar lobster suit floating, then went to Saariselka and stayed in the glass house
✅Swedish Icebreaker: Become a witness to the ship's huge icebreaking ability, take a tour from the engine room to the captain's bridge, and experience a different icebreaking career
✅Lobster Suit Floating: The icebreaker will create an ice-free swimming pool, and every visitor can experience the polar lobster suit floating. The captain will issue a polar icebreaking certificate to everyone as an unforgettable gift
.
🚩Day 4: Saariselka drives to Kirkenes to participate in king crab fishing, check in to the Norwegian Ice Castle + visit the Sami Husky Camp
✅Catching king crabs: Not only can you experience the scenery of the Finnish lake, but you can also enjoy the scenery of the North Fjords of Norway. The highlight is that you can personally experience catching king crabs with local fishermen and enjoy a king crab feast.
✅Sammy Husky Camp: Get up close and personal with the Arctic elves and feel the love of the people in the Arctic Circle
✅Ice and Snow Castle: Different themes are designed every year, and the ice-carved castle hotel is worth a visit.

Trip to Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮
It was a winter trip to Finland with friends and we just love it. As soon as we reached Helsinki airport, we checked visited Market Square for our lunch. Most of the food that we've ordered were good especially salmon and caviar!
We then visited the most famous Helsinki Catheral. It is a distinctive landmark in the Helsinki city. They opened from 9am to 5pm, from Monday to Friday. We reached there around 2pm and it was kinda packed with tourist. We checked with the lady working there and was told that early morning around 9am would have lesser people. If you are here for good pictures, you may take this into consideration.
Helsinki Catheral
📍Unioninkatu 29, 00170 Helsinki, Finland
On the second day, we visited Rovaniemi, a city in Finland. The city was stunning 😍 We checked in to Lapland Hotel Ounasvaara Chalets. We then visited Ounasvaara Ski Centre. My friends doesn't really know how to ski, so we booked 90 minutes personal trainer and it costed her around €110. The view around the area was just so amazing and I would really recommend you to visit. This is my most favourite place to visit in Finland
Ounasvaara Ski Centre
📍Taunontie 14, 96600 Rovaniemi, Finland
We then visited the most famous Nothernmost McDonald after a tiring day of skiing.
Northernmost McDonald
📍Poromiehentie 3, Rovaniemi, Finland 96200
On the third day, we visited Santa Claus Village. It is free to visit and we were able to take some good pictures with the Santa Claus and feel the Christmas vibes ❄️🎄🧑🎄 We also went for Husky Rides. The distance was about 2km and it costs around €45. I was an unforgettable experience and the view down the path was amazing. The whole journey was “fast and furious” 🤣. We also tried Reindeer Sleigh Ride. The distance was about 1km and it costs around €30. I personally like Husky rides better 🥰🥰 But if you have sufficient time, definitely you should try both ‼️
Santa Claus Village
📍96930 Rovaniemi, Finland
Lastly, we took snowmobile to see the aurora. Due to weather conditions, we were not able to see any. But the experience was really good. Will definitely come back again for the aurora 🥰

🇫🇮|The most beautiful hotel in Rovaniemi
This time we stayed at the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel, a popular spot in Rovaniemi. It costs over 700 euros per night, but the view is absolutely breathtaking, and the service is superb.
.
The reception even offers shuttle service to the rooms.
.
From the window, you can see the small cabins and snowy forest across, like something out of a fairy tale.
.
The room is well-equipped. Pulling back the curtains reveals floor-to-ceiling windows and white blanket chairs, perfect for photos.
.
The hotel delivers breakfast to your room with additional 18 euros, including coffee, tea, sausages, bacon, salmon, fried eggs, and more, all kept warm in insulated bags.
.
The room is warm, with amenities like red wine, a coffee machine, and toiletries including soap and slippers.
.
Photography tips:
In February, around 8 am, you can see the blue sky and blue light on the trees just as the day is breaking.By 9 am, it's even brighter. Wearing white and sitting by the window offers a great view and great photos. We stayed in room number 37, both inside and outside views were stunning.
.
Make sure to book in advance, as rooms are scarce during peak season.

Santa Claus Village, Finland
Lapland is a collective term for the northern regions within the Arctic Circle in Northern Europe. The part located within Finland is called Finnish Lapland, with Rovaniemi as its center, which is also the famous Santa Claus Village.
Finland's Lapland is a magical place. It covers 30% of the country's land area, but only 3% of the population. The natural landscape is magnificent, suitable for hiking, skiing, dog sledding, and more.
Half of the year here is covered in snow. In the clear winter night sky, dancing auroras appear, emitting a faint light that is both beautiful and mysterious. The ski resort has complete equipment and ski trails suitable for skiers of all levels, as well as cross-country ski trails, ice and snow parks, and more. In addition to skiing, activities such as dog sledding and reindeer sledding are waiting for everyone.

Always Christmas day
Took a night train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi. The night train cabin bed is comfortable and clean.
All the shops in Santa Claus Village only open at 10am.
I was there at 8am plus, no soul and still dark.
I found Nova Skyland hotel to keep myself warm. Advice to stay in the village in winter, which is more convenient and easy to access and it is near the airport.
Salmon place for lunch, simple and tastes fresh and good.

To see the beautiful view, it is necessary to arrive there early. The husky ride is usually fully booked, so it is better to book online. The salmon restaurant is definitely worth trying. I guess it is the best salmon you will have ever eaten in Nordic areas.#rovaniemi

Rovaniemi is the only official Santa Claus office 🎅🏻
Rovaniemi City Center has an official Santa Claus office🎅🏻 There are fewer tourists than Santa Claus Village, so Santa Claus and we talked for a while before taking pictures and introduced us to the paintings in his office😂 Santa Claus is fun Humor, wonderful questions and answers, and finally, of course, there is no shortage of photos 😆 Although there was burned at the end 💸, but the money is spent happily 😛 This office is also the only place in Lapland where you can get Santa's signature, if you are interested, you can come and see it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Santa Claus also gave us a reminder, that is, tonight to the lake, there is a chance to see the Northern Lights 😍😍😍 Hope Christmas wishes will come true 🤞🏻

This marking of the Arctic Circle is inside the Santa Claus village in Rovaniemi. It's highlighted clearly and has pillars with lights too. We are so excited to cross the Arctic Circle inside the building and outside. The place was full of activities, which included reindeer ride, shopping, passport stamping, posting of cards with special stamps plus a photo with Santa Claus.

Artic Circle @Finland
I was standing at the starting point of the Arctic Circle, a parallel, or line of latitude around the Earth, at approximately 66°30′ N. Because of the Earth's inclination of about 23 1/2° to the vertical, it marks the southern limit of the area within which, for one day or more each year, the Sun does not set (about June 21) or rise (about December 21).
The Arctic region covers eight countries: Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and the United States (via Alaska).
Nearly one-third of Finland's land lies above the Arctic Circle in the province of Lapland, including Santa Clause Village. The coach driver told me that it is common for people in Lapland to experience more prolonged sunshine in summer and 24 hours dark in Winter.

Snow & The City @ Rovaniemi Finland
Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland in northern Finland. With the dark history of this city during World War II, Rovaniemi today is a modern city and is a trademark as the official home town of Santa Claus, the main access for the chaser of Nothern Light or Aurora, and unparalleled access to the Artic Circle.
During winter time and Christmas season, Rovaniemi is become the most visit for tourist, although the city it self is a small city in Lapland, with population around 65,000.
Rovaniemi is also become the base for tourist to visit the attraction around Lapland, same like what I did. If you are visiting Santa Clause village, reindeer ride and Snowmobile ride, mostly people use Rovaniemi as the base to stay.
The northern light also can be seen from the city area, however usually it was only during the powerful solar storms.
Rovaniemi prominent landmarks are the Jatkankynttila bridge, Arktikum Science Museum, and the Rovaniemi City Hall.
