Experience breathtaking mountain views amidst mist and romantic nature 📸 with highlight photo spots including the Gate of Heaven, the statue of a young woman, and the mountain-view swing. ✨ Content creators can't miss this! Prepare your best outfits and capture unforgettable moments at Moana Sapa. 📍 Sapa, Vietnam #MoanaSapa #SapaVietnam #TravelSapa #TravelVietnam #Tripcom

My visit to Moana Sapa turned out to be one of those places where the journey is almost as rewarding as the photos. Perched above Sa Pa, this expansive outdoor attraction blends creative installations with spectacular views of the Mường Hoa Valley and the Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range. On a clear day, you may even catch a glimpse of Fansipan, the “Roof of Indochina.” What I enjoyed most was the sheer variety of photo spots — from the iconic giant golden hand and Bali-inspired Heaven’s Gate to the infinity pool, swing and Moana statue. But beyond the Instagram moments, there is something wonderfully relaxing about simply stopping to take in the vast mountain landscape. The misty Sa Pa weather adds another dimension. When the clouds roll through the mountains, the whole place takes on a dreamy, almost surreal atmosphere. ☁️🏔️ 💡 My 2 personalised tips: 1️⃣ Go early if you want the photos — and the views. I’d recommend arriving in the morning, especially if photography is important to you. There are fewer visitors, the mountain light is softer, and the morning mist can create a magical backdrop. 2️⃣ Don’t rush from photo spot to photo spot. Give yourself around 1½–2 hours and take time to enjoy the scenery between the installations. Bring a light jacket even on warmer days — Sa Pa’s mountain weather can change quickly, and the open hillside can feel surprisingly cool. 📌 Location: 68 Violet Street, Cầu Mây Ward, Sa Pa, Lào Cai, Vietnam ⏰ Opening: generally 7:00am–7:00pm 📸 Best for: mountain views, creative photography, couples, families & Instagram-worthy moments Would I visit again? Absolutely — especially on a clear morning when the Mường Hoa Valley and Hoàng Liên Sơn mountains reveal themselves through the clouds. 🇻🇳❤️ #MoanaSapa #Sapa #SapaVietnam #VietnamTravel #VisitSapa #MườngHoaValley #HoangLienSon #Fansipan #SapaTravel #VietnamDestinations #TravelVietnam #VietnamPhotography #InstagrammablePlaces #TravelTips

Sapa in 3 Days: Mountains, Clouds & Unforgettable Views ⛰️✨ We stayed at Pao’s Sapa Leisure Hotel, and its location was very convenient for exploring the area. Moana Sapa is also nearby — a beautiful park with panoramic mountain views and plenty of scenic spots for taking photos. One experience you shouldn’t miss is riding the famous mountain train from the center of Sapa and then taking the cable car up to Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina. The journey itself is unforgettable, with breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. At the top, you can walk among the clouds and explore the impressive temples and statues. Three days were enough for us to enjoy the beautiful nature, explore Sapa, and visit its main attractions. I recommend spending at least a few days here — Sapa is definitely one of those places in Vietnam that you’ll want to return to. 🏔️✨ #sapa #fansipan #vietnamtravel #sapavietnam

From Moana Sapa to Alpine coaster ride; a half day adventure with the local tour guide is really worth every buck. Tour starts at 8:00-8:30am as you need to wait for your group and then head out to these adventure spots and Instagram worthy frames. The views are really great even if foggy and misty but it’s the experience that is truly amazing. I joined a group tour and I met a lot of wonderful people, luckily our group with a local young lady tour guide is really warm and fun. Thanks to the tour guide who mesh all of us together. She’s really nice, jolly, helpful and very informative. It made Sapa Day 01 remarkable. Do not miss the alpine coaster ride and they have an offer for 2nd ride at 50% off. Take it! Because once is not enough 😄

#worthitornot When people think of Sapa, they often picture misty mountains and cool weather. But the true star of this region is its endless rice terraces, carved into the hillsides over generations by local ethnic communities. It’s one of those places where nature and human craftsmanship come together to create something extraordinary. 🌿 A Landscape That Changes Every Season Sapa never looks the same twice. In late spring and early summer, the terraces become shimmering “water mirrors” as farmers prepare the fields. By September, they transform into layers of brilliant golden rice stretching across the mountains, creating one of Vietnam’s most iconic landscapes. #travel2026 #couplestrip

Sapa, a mountain town in northern Vietnam, is perfect for a 3-day, 2-night trip. It offers a misty atmosphere, local culture, and spectacular mountain views, especially Fansipan Peak (3,143 meters), which is accessible by cable car. Then, explore Cat Cat Village, admire the Hmong houses, streams, waterfalls, and mountain views. In the evening, find something to eat and stroll around Sapa Square. Cat Cat Village is one of the villages easily accessible from the city center. Day 2 | Conquer Fansipan – Check in at Mountain Views In the morning, ascend Fansipan – the "Roof of Indochina." Take a cable car to enjoy panoramic views of the valley and sea of clouds from above (approximately 15 minutes). Then, explore the temple and photo spots at the summit. After descending, stop at a cafe or viewpoint overlooking Sapa. In the evening, stroll through the market and enjoy some hot Vietnamese food. Day 3 | Muong Hoa Valley – Lao Chai – Ta Van End the day with stunning natural views at... Muong Hoa Valley, with its terraced rice fields and Lao Chai-Ta Van village, is perfect for leisurely strolls, photography, and experiencing local life before returning to the city and continuing on to Hanoi. This trip is ideal for: photography enthusiasts, nature lovers, couples or groups of friends, and those who want a relaxed Sapa experience. The terraced rice fields are particularly stunning around September–October, while April–May usually offers pleasant weather and clear skies. #Sapa #VietnamTravel #Fansipan #CatCatVillage #MuongHoaValley #SapaTrip #VietnamTravel #TripCom

🛌 6 Things I Wish Every First-Time Traveler Knew About Vietnam’s Overnight Trains There’s something romantic about traveling through Vietnam by train. You board in one city at night, climb into your bunk, fall asleep to the sound of the rails, and wake up hundreds of kilometers away with a completely different landscape outside the window. And when it works well, a sleeper train can be one of the smartest ways to move around the country. You save daytime travel hours. You may save one hotel night. You avoid another airport. And honestly, waking up somewhere new feels way more memorable than another one-hour domestic flight. 😭🚆 But the experience depends A LOT on what you book. Vietnam Railways currently lists several sleeping categories, including 4-berth and 6-berth compartments, alongside other seating and sleeper types. Here are the six things I’d know before choosing one. 🛌 1. If your budget allows, choose the 4-berth soft sleeper This is the upgrade I’d make first. A 4-berth sleeper cabin gives you two lower and two upper bunks, while the 6-berth configuration fits three levels of beds on each side. Vietnam Railways currently distinguishes these as separate sleeper categories in its booking system. That extra space makes a noticeable difference overnight. You get: more headroom, fewer people in the cabin, less climbing around, and generally a calmer feeling. If you’re only traveling for a few hours during the day, I wouldn’t care as much. But when you’re trying to sleep? Four people versus six suddenly feels important. 😂 For couples, friends or first-time train travelers, this would be my default. ⬇️ 2. Lower berth is the convenient choice, but upper has advantages too I usually prefer the lower berth. You don’t need to climb a ladder every time you want to get up. Your bags are easier to reach. And if you wake up in the middle of the night half asleep, you’re not attempting an unexpected gymnastics routine. 😭 It’s especially convenient if you: have heavier luggage, need to use the bathroom frequently, have limited mobility, or simply hate ladders. But the upper berth does have one advantage: It can feel a little more private because people aren’t constantly sitting near your bed. So there isn’t one universally “best” bunk. Lower = convenience. Upper = a little more separation. If you’re particular about your berth, book early because popular sleeper positions can disappear first on busy dates. ⏱️ 3. Overnight trains work best when the journey is long enough to sleep, but not TOO long For me, the sweet spot is roughly an overnight journey where you can board in the evening, sleep for several hours and arrive the next morning. Some useful routes to look at include: Hanoi ↔ Lao Cai for travelers continuing toward Sapa. Vietnam Railways still lists the Hanoi–Lao Cai route and sleeper accommodation in its current system. Hanoi ↔ Dong Hoi for Phong Nha and Quang Binh. Ninh Binh ↔ Hue / Da Nang for travelers moving south through Central Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City ↔ Nha Trang can also work depending on the specific train time. Current north-south schedules show several services linking Saigon and Nha Trang. The key is checking the ACTUAL timetable. A route might sound perfect geographically but have a terrible departure or arrival time. A sleeper arriving at 4:30 AM is technically efficient… until you’re standing outside the station with your suitcase wondering why you thought this was a good idea. 😂 🌅 4. Do NOT sleep through Da Nang ↔ Hue This is one section I’d deliberately travel during daylight. The railway between Da Nang and Hue runs through the dramatic Hai Van Pass area, with mountains on one side and coastal scenery on the other. It’s one of those journeys where taking the train is part of the sightseeing. So if your itinerary includes both cities, don’t automatically choose an overnight schedule just because sleeper trains sound romantic. Save your sleeping hours for another section. Take this one awake. Find a window. Charge your phone. And enjoy the ride. 🌊🚆 For this route, the train is not simply transportation. It’s one of the attractions. 🚫 5. Hanoi → Ho Chi Minh City in one train? I wouldn’t Technically, you can travel a huge section of Vietnam by rail on the north-south line. Should a first-time traveler sit on one train from Hanoi all the way to Ho Chi Minh City? Personally? No. 😭 Current Vietnam Railways schedules show the north-south services stopping through major destinations including Hanoi, Dong Hoi, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang and Saigon. That’s exactly why I’d break the journey up. For example: Hanoi → Ninh Binh explore Ninh Binh → Hue / Da Nang overnight sleeper explore Central Vietnam then continue south later. That gives you the fun of train travel without turning the train itself into your entire vacation. If your only goal is reaching Ho Chi Minh City from Hanoi quickly, a domestic flight makes much more sense. If your goal is actually seeing Vietnam? Break the railway journey into sections. 🎒 6. Your overnight-train survival kit matters more than you think You don’t need to bring half your house. But a few small things make the journey MUCH better. Light sweater or hoodie Air-conditioned cabins can feel cold, especially overnight. Earplugs Trains move. Doors open. People wake up. Stations happen. Eye mask Useful if cabin lights or station lights bother you. Power bank Don’t assume every socket will be exactly where you want it or working perfectly. Water + small snacks Especially useful if your departure is late. Toilet paper / tissues + hand sanitizer You’ll understand eventually. 😂 Small bag for valuables Keep your passport, wallet, phone and important items close to you rather than buried inside your main luggage. And wear something comfortable. An overnight train is not the night to prove your airport outfit deserves a fashion award. 🧳 What do you do with bigger luggage? This worried me the first time I considered sleeper trains too. In 4-berth cabins, larger bags usually need to be stored in the available cabin luggage areas, including space around or beneath lower bunks depending on the carriage layout. That’s another reason I like the lower berth. Your main bag is easier to keep an eye on. Still, I would never leave: passport, cash, expensive electronics, or important documents inside a large suitcase overnight. Keep valuables in a small bag beside you. Simple. 🚪 Should you book the whole cabin? If you’re traveling as a group of four, this is easy. Four people + four-berth compartment = basically your own little moving hotel room. For couples, some travelers also prefer buying additional berths when booking conditions allow, simply for more privacy. But check the specific train and booking rules before assuming you can reserve unused beds. For solo travelers, sharing a cabin is completely normal. You might end up with another tourist. A Vietnamese family. Business travelers. Or someone who climbs into bed immediately and says approximately zero words until morning. 😂 That unpredictability is part of train travel. 🚉 Hanoi → Lao Cai does NOT take you directly to Sapa This is worth highlighting because first-time visitors sometimes search for “train to Sapa.” The railway goes to Lao Cai, not directly into Sapa town. Vietnam Railways currently operates the Hanoi–Lao Cai route. From Lao Cai station, you still need road transport up into the mountains. So when comparing: overnight train vs sleeper bus vs limousine van include that final transfer. The train is more of an experience. Road transport can be more direct. Choose based on whether you prioritize comfort, travel style or convenience. 📱 Make sure the ticket details match your ID This sounds boring until it saves you a problem. Vietnam Railways’ current ticket-verification system states that passengers need identification information matching the details recorded on the electronic ticket in order to board. So check: your name, passport/ID information where required, departure station, arrival station, date, and train number. Especially if someone else books the ticket for you. Don’t wait until the station to discover your travel date is tomorrow. 😭 🍜 Bring snacks, but don’t expect luxury dining Depending on the service, you may find food or drinks available onboard or during stops. But I wouldn’t build my entire dinner plan around it. Eat before boarding if practical and bring something small for later. Vietnam has too much incredible food for your final meal of the day to be: “Whatever mystery snack was left in my backpack.” 😂 And please avoid bringing something intensely fragrant into a small four-person sleeping cabin. Your cabin mates may remember you forever. Not necessarily positively. 🚿 Set your expectations correctly A sleeper train is not a luxury hotel on rails. Some upgraded tourist carriages can feel more polished, but ordinary Vietnam Railways sleepers are still trains. You’ll hear movement. The carriage will shake. The bathroom is functional rather than spa-like. The bedding experience can vary by train and carriage. You might sleep amazingly. You might wake up every time the train slows down. Go in expecting an experience + transportation, not five-star accommodation. That mindset makes it much more enjoyable. 🌅 But waking up on the train is part of the magic This is why I’d still recommend trying it at least once. There’s something special about waking up, pulling back the curtain or looking through the window and realizing the scenery has completely changed. Rice fields. Small stations. Villages starting their morning. Mountains appearing in the distance. Then someone walks past selling coffee or breakfast and suddenly you remember: You’re crossing Vietnam by train. 🇻🇳🚆 That is a travel memory a one-hour flight rarely gives you. 💡 My ideal sleeper-train strategy If I were planning a first Vietnam trip, I wouldn’t use trains for every journey. I’d mix them strategically. Short distance: car, bus or train depending on convenience. Good overnight section: sleeper train. Da Nang ↔ Hue: daytime train for the scenery. Huge north-to-south jump: fly. That gives you the best part of Vietnam’s railway experience without losing entire days unnecessarily. 🇻🇳 The quick guide to remember Best cabin for most travelers: 4-berth soft sleeper 🛌 Most convenient bed: lower berth ⬇️ Best use: overnight journeys long enough for a real sleep 🚆 One route to keep awake for: Da Nang ↔ Hue 🌊 One journey I’d split: Hanoi ↔ Ho Chi Minh City ✈️🚆 Pack: earplugs, eye mask, warm layer, power bank, water and valuables close to you 🎒 And perhaps most importantly: Don’t choose a sleeper train only because it saves a hotel night. Choose it because the train itself sounds like part of the adventure you want. If you hate noise, movement and shared spaces, flying might genuinely make you happier. But if the idea of falling asleep in Hanoi and waking up somewhere new sounds exciting? Book the bunk. 🚆✨ 📌 Save this before booking transport in Vietnam and send it to your travel partner. 🏔️ Cloud-Hunting Peaks, Rice Terraces, Jungle Trails & Giant Caves: Vietnam on Foot Hits Different Vietnam is famous for street food, motorbike trips, beaches and chaotic cities, but some of the country’s most unforgettable landscapes are the ones you have to walk for. Far beyond the usual city itinerary, Vietnam has misty mountain ridges above the clouds, terraced valleys carved into hillsides, tropical rainforest, dry coastal mountains and cave systems so enormous they barely look real. Some of these are genuine multi-day expeditions. Others are shorter climbs or trekking areas that can fit into a normal trip. So before throwing all 15 into one itinerary 😭, choose based on your fitness level, the season and how adventurous you actually want the trip to be. Here are 15 places worth saving for a future Vietnam hiking adventure. 🏔️ 1. Fansipan, Sapa At 3,143 meters, Fansipan is Vietnam’s highest mountain and the highest peak in the Indochinese Peninsula. Most visitors now reach the upper mountain using the cable-car system, but trekking Fansipan is still possible for travelers who want the mountain experience rather than simply the summit photo. The climb takes you through forests, steep mountain terrain and changing vegetation before reaching the top of the Hoang Lien Son range. Weather is the wildcard. You might reach the summit and see mountains stretching into the distance. Or you might see approximately three meters of cloud. 😭☁️ Either way, the journey is the point. Best for: mountain trekking, challenging climbs and travelers wanting a serious Sapa adventure. ☁️ 2. Ta Xua, Son La If your hiking dream involves standing above a sea of clouds, save Ta Xua. This mountainous region has become famous for dramatic ridgelines and cloud-hunting conditions, especially during cooler periods. The scenery can feel almost unreal when low clouds settle into the valleys and only the mountain peaks remain visible. But don’t plan the entire trip around one viral cloud photo. Cloud inversions depend on temperature, humidity and weather. On the right morning? Magic. On the wrong morning? Congratulations, you went hiking. 😂 The famous “dinosaur backbone” ridge is another reason adventure travelers come here, although sections can be narrow and exposed. Best for: cloud hunting, ridgelines and photographers who don’t mind earning the view. 🏍️ 3. Ha Giang Ha Giang is better known for the legendary Ha Giang Loop, but don’t assume the province is only meant to be seen from a motorbike. Some of the best experiences happen after you get off the road. Walking routes around ethnic minority villages, valleys and mountain passes let you experience the landscape at a completely different pace. Areas around Dong Van, Meo Vac and Du Gia can give you limestone mountains, deep valleys, terraced farmland and small settlements tucked into seemingly impossible terrain. A local guide can make shorter village treks much more meaningful because the region is culturally diverse and many trails are not obvious to first-time visitors. Best for: combining a road trip with village walks and mountain trekking. 🌿 4. Ba Be National Park Ba Be feels like northern Vietnam on quiet mode. The national park combines limestone mountains, forests, caves, rivers and Ba Be Lake, surrounded by Tay villages. This is the kind of place where the hiking is less about conquering one famous summit and more about moving through a whole landscape. Walk through forest trails. Pass local villages. Take a boat across the lake. Explore caves. Then wake up the next morning somewhere that feels very far from Hanoi. If you prefer trekking without the crowds found at more famous mountain destinations, Ba Be is worth researching. Best for: nature, homestays, forests and slower multi-activity adventures. 💦 5. Ban Gioc & Cao Bang Ban Gioc Waterfall itself is more of a spectacular natural sight than a major standalone hiking route, but the wider Cao Bang region is what makes this area so exciting for outdoor travelers. Karst mountains rise between rice fields, rural roads run through tiny villages and viewpoints are scattered across the province. Combine Ban Gioc with countryside walks, nearby caves and the landscapes around the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark for a much richer trip. The waterfall is the headline. The surrounding countryside is the reason I wouldn’t rush back to Hanoi immediately afterward. Best for: easy walks, dramatic karst scenery and travelers who want to combine nature with a northern road trip. 🌾 6. Pu Luong Nature Reserve If rice terraces are your weakness, Pu Luong deserves a save. The reserve is filled with terraced hillsides, forests, traditional villages and narrow paths connecting rural communities. Compared with Sapa, parts of Pu Luong can feel much quieter. A typical trekking day might involve walking down through rice fields, crossing small streams, passing water wheels and eventually arriving at a village homestay. The landscape also changes dramatically with the agricultural season. Fresh green terraces and golden harvest fields are not available all year, so check current crop conditions if that particular scenery matters to you. Best for: rice terraces, village trekking and first-time hikers looking for something scenic without a major summit climb. ⛰️ 7. Hang Mua, Ninh Binh Let’s be clear: Hang Mua is not a long wilderness trek. It is a relatively short but steep climb involving hundreds of stone steps. And somehow your legs will still remember it. 😂 The reward is one of Ninh Binh’s most famous panoramas, looking across the Tam Coc area with rice fields, rivers and limestone karsts below. Go earlier or later in the day if possible because the climb can feel brutal under strong midday heat. The upper ridges can also be exposed, so use extra caution if the stone is wet or conditions are windy. Best for: travelers who want a big viewpoint without committing to a full-day hike. 🌳 8. Bach Ma National Park Between Hue and Da Nang sits one of central Vietnam’s best hiking areas. Bach Ma National Park combines tropical forest, waterfalls, mountain viewpoints and trails that feel worlds away from the nearby coastal cities. One of the most popular experiences involves trekking through the forest toward the Five Lakes and Do Quyen Waterfall area. You can also reach viewpoints higher in the park where, on a clear day, the landscape opens toward lagoons, mountains and the coast. Rain changes everything here. Trails become slippery and visibility can disappear quickly, so good shoes matter more than your aesthetic hiking outfit. 😭 Best for: rainforest, waterfalls and anyone visiting Hue or Da Nang who wants an outdoor day. 🦇 9. Son Doong, Quang Binh Then there’s the hike that sits in a completely different category. Son Doong is widely recognized as the world’s largest natural cave by volume and exploring it is not a normal sightseeing excursion. This is a demanding, highly controlled multi-day expedition through jungle, rivers, enormous cave passages and underground camps. Inside, the scale becomes difficult to understand from photographs. Some sections contain enormous chambers, underground formations and collapsed areas where sunlight enters and supports vegetation. This is bucket-list trekking in the literal sense. It requires preparation, fitness and an authorized expedition rather than independent exploration. For most travelers visiting Phong Nha, there are also many easier cave and jungle adventures available that don’t require committing to Son Doong. Best for: experienced adventure travelers looking for a genuine expedition. 🌉 10. Ba Na Hills, Da Nang Ba Na Hills belongs on this list with an important clarification: It’s better described as a mountain walking and sightseeing destination than a traditional wilderness hike. You reach the complex by cable car, then spend the day walking between the famous Golden Bridge, gardens, viewpoints, French Village and other attractions. The mountain setting can still involve a LOT of walking. And because Ba Na sits at elevation, the weather can shift quickly from sunshine to fog. For travelers who like mountain scenery but don’t want a demanding trek, it’s an easy way to add a highland experience to a Da Nang itinerary. Best for: casual walkers, families and anyone who wants mountain views without a major trek. 🏔️ 11. Ngoc Linh For something much more remote, look toward the Ngoc Linh mountain range in central Vietnam. This rugged region stretches around the Kon Tum and Quang Nam area and includes some of the highest terrain in central Vietnam. This is not the kind of place where you casually arrive in sandals after seeing one Reel. Routes can be remote, conditions can be challenging and access arrangements may require local coordination depending on the area. That remoteness is also exactly what makes Ngoc Linh fascinating. Dense forest. High mountains. Few crowds. A side of Vietnam most visitors never see. Best for: experienced trekkers, remote landscapes and travelers comfortable with logistical planning. 🌄 12. Ta Nang – Phan Dung This is one of southern Vietnam’s most talked-about trekking routes. The classic Ta Nang – Phan Dung journey crosses terrain between the Central Highlands and the lower landscapes toward Binh Thuan. Expect rolling hills, forests, grasslands and long stretches where the scenery opens dramatically around you. It’s often done as an overnight or multi-day trek rather than a quick morning hike. And this is another route where the season matters. Dry conditions can mean exposed heat and limited water. Wet conditions can make slopes dangerously slippery. So don’t choose your date based only on when the hills look prettiest on Instagram. Best for: camping, multi-day trekking and travelers looking for a challenge closer to southern Vietnam. 🌊 13. Nui Chua National Park Nui Chua is one of the most unusual landscapes on this list. Instead of wet tropical jungle, parts of the national park are famously dry, rocky and almost semi-arid. Then you look in another direction and see the sea. That combination of mountains and coastline makes trekking here feel completely different from northern Vietnam. The wider Nui Chua landscape is also recognized within the Nui Chua UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, reflecting the area’s unusual terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Expect heat, exposed terrain and fewer shady sections on some routes. Bring plenty of water and do not underestimate the sun. Best for: coastal trekking, unusual ecosystems and travelers who want something different from rice terraces. 🌲 14. Lang Biang, Da Lat Da Lat is known for cafés, flowers and cool weather, but the surrounding highlands are also excellent for hiking. Lang Biang is one of the most recognizable mountain areas near the city. The landscape includes pine forests, highland vegetation and viewpoints overlooking the wider Da Lat region. Different routes and experiences exist around Lang Biang, so research the actual trail you want rather than assuming every visit is the same. The cooler climate makes hiking here feel very different from trekking in tropical coastal areas. And afterward? You’re back in Da Lat. Which means hot coffee and an enormous meal are completely justified. 😂☕ Best for: moderate mountain hikes, pine forests and travelers already exploring Da Lat. ⛰️ 15. Phu Sa Phin For hikers who keep saying: “I want somewhere less crowded.” Here you go. 😭 Phu Sa Phin, in Vietnam’s northwest, belongs to the more adventurous side of the country’s mountain trekking scene. Expect remote highland terrain, forests, changing weather and landscapes far removed from the heavily developed tourism infrastructure of Sapa town. #Vietnam #VietnamTravel #VietnamHiking #HikingVietnam #Fansipan #TaXua #HaGiang #PuLuong #NinhBinh #BachMa #SonDoong #DaLat #VietnamNature #AdventureTravel #TripMoments

In the northern Vietnamese province of Lai Chau, deep in mountain country, sits the town of Sapa. Most travelers come here for one reason: to reach the summit of Fansipan, the highest mountain in Vietnam — and in all of Indochina — standing at 3,143 meters. These days, the climb is made by cable car, costing around 800,000 VND (as of December 2025). I booked my tickets through Trip.com. I'd already hiked several other mountains in Vietnam, and none of those were easy — jungle terrain, heavy gear, the works. Fansipan was different: the cable car entry costs roughly $35, but Sapa's weather is notoriously foggy, so timing is everything. The Climb Because of the foggy weather, I waited around, taking day trips to other mountains and attractions nearby, before finally committing and buying the ticket. Around 11 a.m., the fog was thick at the base. The cable car ride itself takes just 15–20 minutes. At the top, though, it was a different world — sunny with drifting clouds. Every so often the clouds would part to reveal a white blanket over the surrounding peaks, and sometimes Sapa itself came into view far below. It's cold up there — around 0°C to +10°C in late December — with steady wind. Despite that, there's a real crowd of tourists at the summit, along with statues of Buddha and the Bodhisattva Guanyin, plus temples built in a traditional Asian Buddhist style. How Much Does It Cost to Climb Fansipan? Cable car (December 2025 prices): Weekdays: 800,000 VND Saturdays: 850,000 VND Children under 99 cm tall: Free Children's tickets above that height: ~600,000 VND Note: After the cable car, there's still another 150 meters of stairs to reach the actual summit. Guided trek without cable car: Book through a travel agency in Sapa, costing roughly 1,200,000–1,500,000 VND. Can You Climb Fansipan for Free? I took the cable car myself, but independent climbing without a guide is technically possible — though you risk a fine if caught, according to locals. From hostel chatter, here's what I gathered (unverified): One route starts around 22.353037, 103.774599 (Coordinates in this article are for the Organic Maps offline app.) at 3–4 a.m., heading straight up. Another possible bypass trail starts near 22.347336, 103.77243, crossing a gorge and rejoining near 22.347386, 103.77372. This one sounded like a fast, minimal-gear approach. Some travelers reportedly made it up for free this way — though you'd still need to descend on foot too, since tickets are checked on the way down as well. Worth noting: guided groups sometimes use these same trails at the same early hours, so you might get asked .. or you might not. Honestly, it feels like an unsporting move on Vietnam's part to effectively close independent access to this mountain. Most cable-car visitors never even consider trekking up with a tent, and many guided hikers would have gone that route regardless if given the option. But solo climbing has been shut down for reasons that feel more like excuses than logic — not exactly in the spirit of mountaineering. Last cable car down: approximately 4:30 p.m.

A must-see landmark when visiting Sapa is Fansipan Peak, approximately 3,143 meters above sea level and the highest mountain in Vietnam. You can easily take a cable car up to experience breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and spectacular sea of clouds. Our Day 3 in Dalat started off free and easy, just the way we like it. We enjoyed a really amazing breakfast at our hotel before heading out for a quick drink stop at Phê La.
From there, we made our way to Puppy Farm, where we ended up spending almost the entire late morning and early afternoon.
And honestly, Puppy Farm turned out to be one of our greatest discoveries of this trip.
With extremely reasonable ticket prices and an incredible number of activities included, the value we got from our visit was honestly far beyond what I expected. I went in with fairly low expectations simply because the admission price was so affordable, but this place completely surprised us.
We started off rather slowly because the first section of the attraction didn’t look particularly impressive. There were petting areas where we could see capybaras, guinea pigs, raccoons and dogs, along with a restaurant and several small shops.
It was pleasant enough, but I remember thinking, “Is this really what all the excitement is about?”
Then we walked past the washroom area…
And that was where the magic really began.
Behind the washrooms was a huge open space featuring a beautiful oasis-style garden that looked almost like something straight out of Avatar. There was also a gorgeous wooden house that instantly transported us somewhere into the European countryside.
During our visit, the entire area was beautifully decorated with a Christmas theme, making the surroundings feel even more magical.
And there was so much more to explore.
We encountered rabbits, alpacas, llamas, horses, donkeys and mountain goats, along with an enclosed area filled with birds and other smaller animals. For families travelling with children, there is honestly a tremendous amount to see and do here.
But one of the biggest surprises for us was the Rainbow Slide and Grass Slide.
Both offered unlimited rides, and most importantly, they were included in the entrance ticket.
That alone made the admission price feel like an absolute bargain.
I’ve seen similar attractions in Sa Pa charging around 40,000 VND per ride, so being able to enjoy unlimited rides here made a huge difference.
Needless to say, the kids — and yes, the adults too — had an absolute blast! 😂
After spending hours exploring the main section, we continued on to Puppy Farm 2, which is also included in the admission ticket.
It’s only about a 300-metre walk from the main area, but once you arrive, it almost feels like you’ve entered an entirely different attraction.
Puppy Farm 2 features a huge go-kart racing track, extensive vegetable gardens and a massive cactus garden.
One of our favourite experiences was getting to pick our own Japanese strawberries and cherry tomatoes. The produce was also surprisingly reasonably priced, and we had so much fun picking our own cherry tomatoes.
And then came the grand finale…
🏎️ The Go-Kart Track!
Our entrance tickets already included one complimentary round, which was an amazing bonus.
Of course, that wasn’t enough for us. 😂
Once we got onto the track, we immediately wanted more, so I ended up purchasing additional rounds.
And the prices were incredibly affordable — just a fraction of what I would normally expect to pay for a go-kart experience back home.
By the time we finally left Puppy Farm, we had spent almost the entire afternoon there.
We made our way back to the hotel just in time for their complimentary tea time, where we even got to enjoy the cherry tomatoes we had personally picked earlier.
After tea time, we rested for a little while at the hotel before heading out again as the sky began to darken.
🐌 Dinner at Quán 33 Ốc Nhồi Thịt
For dinner, we headed to Quán 33 Ốc Nhồi Thịt hẻm 27 Hai Bà Trưng, one of the places we were most excited to try for snail dishes in Dalat.
One thing to note is that there are quite a few restaurants with “33” in their names around Dalat, so if you’re searching for this particular restaurant, I highly recommend using the full name.
You’ll also spot a huge snail decoration forming part of the front counter on the left side of the entrance, making it much easier to identify the place.
The food here was absolutely delicious.
We ordered two portions of snails, grilled pig’s breast, beef dipped in vinegar soup, along with several other dishes before finishing our meal with yogurt.
After such a full and exciting day, it was the perfect way to end the evening.
Looking back, Day 3 was incredible because we managed to experience so much in one place — animals, gardens, slides, strawberry and tomato picking, go-karts, and plenty of fun for both the kids and adults.
What started as a simple, free-and-easy day turned into one of the most memorable days of our entire Dalat trip.
And Puppy Farm?
Definitely one of those places where the experience turned out to be far better than we expected. 🇻🇳❤️

Located in northern Vietnam, Mù Cang Chải is famous for its spectacular rice terraces and is widely regarded as one of the most charming landscapes in the country. Every year during the rice ripening season, the entire valley is enveloped in cascading "golden waves," creating a picturesque scene that draws photographers and travel enthusiasts from all over. Compared to the well-known Sapa, Mù Cang Chải is quieter and less crowded, offering a raw, natural charm that makes it an ideal destination to experience mountain culture and magnificent nature. Itinerary Suggestions A one-to-two-day stay is recommended. Mù Cang Chải town serves as the perfect base for exploring the surrounding terraces and villages. In the morning, head to the Mam Xoi Hill viewpoint for a panoramic view of thousands of perfectly layered rice fields—an absolute must-visit for your photos! Afterward, you can rent a motorcycle or hire a local driver to explore villages like La Pan Tan and Che Cu Nha. Keep your camera ready; every turn along the road offers a scene straight out of a postcard. At sunset, return to the Mam Xoi Hill area to witness the dreamlike golden light reflecting off the terraces. Must-Try Experiences 1. Hike through La Pan Tan village to admire the hand-sculpted curves of the rice fields up close, meet local farmers, and perhaps even try some simple farm work. 2. Visit the Muong Lo market in the morning to soak up the authentic mountain market atmosphere, where many Hmong and Thai villagers gather in their vibrant, traditional attire. 3. Capture the "sea of clouds" during the early morning or evening; mist is common during autumn, winter, or the rainy season, creating a truly poetic scene. Photo Hotspots · The iconic "Round Drum" terraces at Mam Xoi Hill · The rolling golden waves of La Pan Tan village · The spectacular panoramic views of the Che Cu Nha valley · Stilt houses in the villages, with cattle, sheep, and terraces as backdrops Tips & Precautions · The best viewing seasons are September to October (when the rice turns from green to gold) or May to June during the irrigation season (the "Silver Ribbon Mirror" effect). · Transportation here is quite primitive with narrow, winding roads. Be careful if driving yourself; if you're unfamiliar with the roads, hiring a car or a local driver is recommended. · Mountain weather changes rapidly and there's a significant temperature difference between day and night; bring a windbreaker and rain gear. · Since there are fewer tourists, English is not widely spoken. A translation app or basic Vietnamese will be very helpful. · Cash is the primary form of payment, as electronic payments are not common; ensure you have enough cash on hand. If you want to avoid the crowds and capture the best shots, try visiting the main viewpoints before sunrise or in the late afternoon for a much better experience!

Planning a trip to Sapa? From Vietnam’s highest peak to scenic valleys, traditional villages, and a spectacular glass bridge, these are 5 places you shouldn’t miss on your first visit to Sapa. 🏔️ 1. Fansipan Mountain Known as the “Roof of Indochina,” Fansipan is the highest mountain in Vietnam. Take the cable car to the summit and enjoy breathtaking views of the Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range. On cloudy days, the summit can feel like you’re walking above the clouds. 🏘️ 2. Cat Cat Village One of Sapa’s most popular attractions, Cat Cat Village offers a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the H’Mong people. Wander through charming wooden houses, colorful shops, and scenic mountain paths surrounded by rice terraces. 🌾 3. Muong Hoa Valley For incredible landscapes, Muong Hoa Valley is a must. The valley is famous for its beautiful terraced rice fields, surrounded by dramatic mountains. It’s especially photogenic during the rice-growing season. 🌉 4. Rong May Glass Bridge For an adrenaline-filled experience, head to Rong May Glass Bridge near O Quy Ho Pass. The glass walkway extends over the mountains, offering spectacular panoramic views from high above the valley. 🏛️ 5. Sun Plaza Located right in the heart of Sapa, Sun Plaza is one of the town’s most recognizable landmarks. Its European-inspired architecture and striking clock tower make it a popular photo spot—and it’s also the gateway to the Fansipan cable car. ✨ Tip: If you have limited time, prioritize Fansipan, Cat Cat Village, and Muong Hoa Valley. For the best experience, allow at least 2–3 days to explore Sapa without rushing.

If you’re like me and need a break from the sweltering heat of Nha Trang or Da Nang, I highly recommend heading to Sapa in the north. Make sure to set aside a day to reach the summit of Mount Fansipan. 🏔️ The peak sits at 3,147 meters above sea level, and there's now an incredibly scenic cable car to take you up. 🧗‍♀️ For hiking enthusiasts, you can trek all the way to the top on foot, which takes about three days. 🚠 The Fansipan Legend cable car whisks you up to 3,000 meters in just 15–20 minutes, offering stunning views of the Muong Hoa Valley and its rice terraces along the way. From the top station, it’s a few hundred more steps to the very peak—but the climb is absolutely worth it. I visited in late August during the rainy season, so the weather was unpredictable. While it was warm and sunny at the base, it was drizzling and completely shrouded in clouds at the summit. If you’re hoping for those iconic clear views of the rice fields from the top, I’d suggest visiting during the dry season—October through December is ideal. 🪷 At the summit, you’ll find several Buddhist temples and pagodas. The numerous statues create a sense of peace and harmony, looking incredibly atmospheric even through the thick mist. The main attraction is a massive bronze Buddha statue, though I unfortunately only caught a glimpse of it through the clouds. I definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Vietnam and looking for a change of scenery. Let me know your thoughts on this place in the comments!

#easytravelpost I went to Sapa with Cat Cat Village on the itinerary… but ended up falling for the town itself ✨ Wandering around Sapa town turned out to be unexpectedly calming — cool air, mountain views in the distance, quiet streets, and zero pressure to rush.
