All Trip Moments about Semarang | Travel Experiences
🇮🇩 Think This Is Brazil? Think Again. 🌈
This colorful hillside village isn't in South America , it's hiding just outside Bandung, Indonesia.
The first moment I saw these colorful streets, I honestly had to look twice. The bright walls, painted stairs, and houses stacked across the hillside looked like a scene from a Latin American town.
But this hidden corner of Indonesia has its own story.
Walking through Kampung Pelangi feels like entering a living painting. Every turn reveals a new splash of color, a small alley filled with murals, a staircase covered in artwork, or a local home that has become part of the village's unique charm.
What I loved most was that this place doesn't feel like a simple photo spot. Behind every colorful wall, there is real life happening, children playing, families going about their day, and travelers slowing down to enjoy the little moments.
The colors may be what first attract your eyes, but the warmth of the people and the creativity of the community are what make this village unforgettable.
Sometimes the most beautiful travel memories come from unexpected places, places you never planned to find, but never forget after leaving.
📍Kampung Pelangi (Rainbow Village), Indonesia 🇮🇩
Would you add this colorful hidden gem to your Indonesia itinerary? 🌈

Eastman Coffee House
#indonesiatrip
Eastman Coffee House in Semarang is a cozy spot with a charming 1950s industrial style that makes you want to linger. I tried their mushroom quiche and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful, paired perfectly with a rich Vietnamese drip coffee. The coffee menu is diverse, offering everything from syphon brews to espresso, all brewed with care. Friendly service and delicious bakery items like croissants and acai bowls made the visit even better. It’s a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or enjoy a peaceful breakfast.

Semarang | 2 Days 1 Night, Unlocking the Charm of Java's Ancient City
| 2 Days 1 Night, Unlocking the Charm of Java's Ancient City. Itinerary Planning
Day 1: Historical & Cultural Exploration
Arrive in Semarang in the morning and visit the Sam Poo Kong Temple. This temple was built to commemorate Admiral Zheng He's five visits to this location during his maritime expeditions.
For lunch, enjoy local delicacies at a restaurant near Sam Poo Kong Temple. Recommended dishes include gado-gado (Indonesian vegetable salad with peanut sauce), a refreshing and appetizing mix of vegetables with special peanut dressing; and sate (satay), juicy grilled meat skewers served with sweet-spicy dipping sauce that will win you over at first bite.
In the afternoon, explore Semarang's Old Town. Stroll through narrow streets lined with colorful Dutch-style houses and ancient churches. Every brick here tells stories of the past—don't forget to pick up some unique handicrafts from local shops as souvenirs.
In the evening, dine at Semarang Tua Restaurant for a lavish Indonesian feast. Their signature ayam goreng (fried chicken) features crispy skin with tender meat, perfectly paired with spicy sambal chili sauce for an irresistible flavor. After dinner, check into a centrally located hotel for convenient access to attractions.
Day 2: Coastal Scenery & Leisure Experience
Head to Parangtritis Beach in the morning. This beach boasts fine sand and spectacular coastline views. Take a leisurely walk along the shore to feel the ocean breeze, or try surfing for an adrenaline-pumping experience with the waves.
Enjoy lunch at a seafood restaurant near the beach. Freshly caught fish, shrimp, crab, and other seafood are simply cooked to preserve their natural flavors, served with local-style rice and vegetables for an unforgettable meal.
In the afternoon, pack your belongings and prepare for departure, ending this fulfilling journey with beautiful memories of Semarang.

LINDS
TRYING ANOTHER BRANCH OF THE ICE CREAM LEGEND BRAND, WHICH TURNS OUT THE VIBES ARE LIKE A THAILAND CAFE.
The last time Den accompanied Linds was the Seroja branch.. Then there he was told that there was also one in Brotojoyo, in fact it had been there before the Seroja branch opened.. Just in time for this sunny afternoon, Den stopped by for a moment to get ice cream while drinking thin coffee at this Brotojoyo branch..
Honestly, the place is cleaner, more minimalist, it feels like having coffee in a Thai cafe.. And the atmosphere is more conducive too
Oh yeah, for the coffee, they still use @expatroasters so the type of coffee with milk is more like bold espresso.. Perfect to accompany you guys working overtime.
For the Ice Cream, Den customized it a bit.. So actually the ice cream should be vanilla, but Den requested to use Pistachio.. and the price is the same, you know For those of you looking for a quiet cafe in the North Semarang area plus delicious ice cream, this place is a must-save

Taman Air
Taman Air in Semarang is a chill and scenic spot that’s perfect for those looking to escape the usual city chaos. Located not too far from the city center, this place offers a peaceful vibe, surrounded by nature, water features, and lots of greenery. It's a great place to relax, take a stroll, or even have a little picnic with friends or family.
When you first step into Taman Air, what catches your eye is the calm, refreshing atmosphere. The park is well-maintained, with ponds, small waterfalls, and pretty walking paths that give it a tranquil feel. It’s one of those places where you can really feel like you're taking a break from the busy world. Whether you’re in the mood to sit and enjoy the view or explore the park, there’s something about the setting that makes you want to stay longer.
The park is also a great spot for photography, with lots of picturesque spots for snapping shots. The combination of water, plants, and open spaces makes it a great place to just get away from the noise of the city and unwind for a bit. It’s not overly crowded, which is always a plus if you're looking for some peace and quiet.
Although it’s mainly a spot for relaxation, there are also a few vendors around selling snacks and drinks, so you can enjoy a little treat while you hang out. Taman Air in Semarang is the kind of place you might not find on every tourist’s list, but it’s definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for a low-key, calming experience in the city.

Catch the Best Sunset of Semarang Here
#traveldiaries
Having dinner while enjoying the sunset at Skyline Cafe, located in the Gumaya Tower Hotel in Semarang, is a truly memorable experience. Perched on one of the tallest buildings in the city, the cafe offers a panoramic view of Semarang’s skyline, especially enchanting during sunset.
As you arrive, the warm and inviting atmosphere of the cafe instantly sets the mood. The seating arrangements, both indoors and outdoors, provide a cozy and intimate setting, making it perfect for a romantic dinner or a special evening with friends or family. The open-air terrace is especially popular as it allows unobstructed views of the horizon.

The city lights slowly start to flicker, adding a magical touch to the view. You can enjoy all of this while savoring a variety of delectable dishes, ranging from local Indonesian cuisine to international favorites, expertly prepared by the hotel’s chefs.

The not so scary Lawang Sewu
#myhiddengems
Lawang Sewu in the Javanese language is translated to mean "a thousand doors". And while the building does not really have a thousand doors, the massive, three-story structure is lined with numerous doors and windows that resemble doors, from which the building obtained its name...
Lawang Sewu is located on the Tugu Muda roundabout, in Semarang, capital city of Central Java and it is now a lovely building after being restored... .

MAU NGECHILL BARENG TEMAN YA DI SINI DI BLACKWOOD
AKHIRNYA ADA TEMPAT NGECHILL BARU YANG VIEW CITYLIGHTNYA SEICONIC INI✨
Ini salah satu project branding @hiddenlabs_ yang lumayan takes time.. Mulai dari ngusulin nama Blackwood (yang diambil dari bahasa Jepang : Yakisugi) bikin logo identity, ngusulin reference interior, foto menu, sampe printilan kecil kecil kaya seragam dll.. Akhirnya buka jugaa..
Konsepnya "Cityscape Dining Experience" gampangannya ini tu tempat buat kalian nikmati view Kota Semarang sambil makan makanan yang lumayan experimental✨
Tempatnya cukup compact, kapasitas 40-50an orang.. Memang dibuat seintimate mungkin..

Prambanan: Myth Meets Stone
#wheretogo #jogja #unesco
Address: Jl. Raya Solo - Yogyakarta No.16, Kranggan, Bokoharjo, Kec. Prambanan, Kabupaten Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta 55571, Indonesia
Price: 25USD for this temple alone. However, packages usually sell tickets for Prambanan alongside Ratu Boko, Ramayana or Borobudur
Points to note: You have to dress appropriately when you’re here. It’s a religious place. It is possible to get here and roam around without a guide.
Personal thoughts: Prambanan is a culturally impressive place and gives you the same feeling as visiting Borobudur. To enhance the experience, I recommend watching the ramayana performance which has ties to background of this temple complex.

Lawang Sewu
Lawang Sewu is classified as heritage. Cultural heritage which must be preserved as a silent witness to the nation's history, especially railways. Lawang Sewu is the building for the Dutch East Indies Railway or KAI of the Dutch East Indies. Lawang Sewu is a museum that contains photographs of stations, trains, and miniature trains. The building is still sturdy and of course has a typical European architecture at that time.

Semarang will always be a city with many memories for me.
This time, I visited a newly built hotel name Padma. It is located in Jalan Sultan Agung, Candisari, Semarang. It's quite close to the downtown. You only need approximately 10 minutes driving to Simpang Lima, the famous place for hangout in Semarang.
The hotel has a great facilities and services. It's also good for bringing your kids here. They have swimming pool for kids. And the adult's pool is great either! I love the outdoor pool area. While waiting the breakfast time, you can walk around here and breath the fresh air in the morning.
