RINJANI 3,726m 🇮🇩
The mountain that makes you realize just how precious "being alive" really is 🤣
At first, I read reviews saying,
“The views are stunning, it’s a chill hike.”
And I totally bought it…
Long story short, I almost had to reincarnate on that mountain.
Day one, arriving in Lombok, I was still all smiles.
Day two, hit up Tiu Kelep Waterfall, the current was wildly refreshing.
Still had the energy to post chill IG stories.
Little did I know, this would be the last day my legs actually belonged to me 🥲
The actual hike started off as a total scam.
Gorgeous views, cool breeze, looking handsome in photos.
Cut to a few moments later…
Panting like a dog getting chased by a car 🚐💨
That first hill wasn't a hill.
It was a literal wall.
I stood there gasping for air until I had to whip out my trekking poles like drawing a sword in an anime.
Got to POS 1, tired, but okay.
Got to POS 2, thought I'd be chilling, eating a full meal, getting my strength back.
Chill my ass 🤣
After that, it was just up, up, and up.
Climbing so steep it felt like the mountain wanted me to say hello to God.
Reached the Crater Rim and thought I could finally catch a break.
Then my friend dropped the bomb:
“Our camp is behind that hill.”
At that exact moment, my inner monologue was just:
“Just shoot me right here.” 😂
At 12:30 AM, I dragged myself out of bed for the Summit push.
Trekking in pitch darkness, howling winds, and freezing my ass off.
The terrain was pure volcanic ash and slippery rocks.
Take 5 steps up, slide 8 steps down.
The laws of physics literally do not apply on this mountain.
And who the hell named this the “Zombie Hill”?
It’s not a zombie.
It’s straight-up the gateway to hell.
It was so steep that when I looked up, I was staring right at the butt of the person in front of me, thank God they didn't fart on me.
Looking back, there was an endless line of people trailing behind, looking like a BNK48 handshake event in their prime 🤣
But eventually, I actually made it to the Summit.
3,726 meters.
Posing for photos looking totally chill.
But the reality of getting up there almost drove me insane!!
The descent was the real boss fight.
I wiped out 7 times with zero dignity.
Bruised ass, scratched camera, torn shoes.
At one point, I slipped and fell backwards, and my parents' faces flashed before my eyes instantly.
Made it down to camp, and the crew made us burgers.
One bite in and I immediately knew:
“The chef definitely didn’t taste test this.” 🤣
Then we had to hike all the way down to the lake.
The moment I looked at the backpack I had to carry, I wanted to yeet it off a cliff.
Walked halfway through,
thank God a guide named "Baba" walked up and asked,
“Is your bag heavy?”
Oh wow.
It felt like unlocking an NPC rescue quest.
Handed that bag over so fast, I was an absolute Lucky Boy 😂
He even tossed me an extra bottle of water. Baba, you're the real MVP.
I went from practically dying to walking light as a feather in seconds.
The last day on the Torean route was incredibly breathtaking.
The grassy mountain landscapes looked straight out of Jurassic Park.
But it was equally sketchy.
One wrong step and I'd be respawning back in Lombok for my next life.
Finally made it out of the jungle in one piece.
The aftermath: sunburned skin, wrecked legs, busted face.
But my heart was fuller than a glass of beer foam.
Capped it all off with some Bakso and an ice-cold Bintang 🍺
Tasted like a goddamn war survivor's victory meal.
To sum up this trip:
“Exhausting as hell, but if anyone asks me to do it again… let me just say I ain't going, so don't even bother asking and making me tired.” 🏔️🔥
