Okayama, this mountain city full of rich historical atmosphere, every time you come, there is a feeling of walking slowly and quietly ~ This trip focuses on the Bizen Nagafune Sword Museum and Okayama Castle in Seto City.
Attraction inventory recommendation
[Bizen Nagabuna Blade Museum]
Hidden in Nagafune-cho, Seto, Okayama Prefecture, the seemingly low-key pavilion is actually a treasure trove of craftsmanship. There are not only various famous knives displayed in the museum, but also often real craftsmen on site polishing and making knives. The on-site activities and displays are absolutely sincere! Last time I went, I just met the craftsman working in the exhibition hall - standing aside and watching him hammering and forging with his heart, every stroke seemed to be in conversation with time. The entire space is combined by brick walls and wooden frames, and even the air is intoxicated with a hint of metal and wood.
📍Address: Nagafune 966, Mayor Funacho, Seto, Okayama Prefecture
⏰Opening hours: year-round 09:00–17:00, Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays)
Tips: Some of the exhibits in the museum have English/Japanese introductions. It is recommended to reserve at least 1.5 hours for a visit. The souvenir shop has small knives, cards, and dagger peripherals, and knives sometimes require reservations.
[Okayama Castle]
If the Bizen Sword Museum is about communicating with craftsmen, then Okayama Castle is about "traveling" to the Warring States Period in Japan! Okayama Castle, also known as "U-cheng", is named after the black-tiled appearance of the entire city. The scale is not the largest, but its sophistication and surrounding moat, garden atmosphere is absolutely first-class. Climbing the Tenshu Gate, you can overlook the city of Okayama. It is recommended that you climb up slowly, take a closer look at the various stone wall structures and old ruins along the way, and feel the calm undertones of Okayama. The museum has a historical exhibition and a DIY Warring States helmet experience, suitable for parents and friends to take pictures.
📍Address: 2-chōme-3-1 Marunouchi, Kita Ward, Okayama, 700-0823 Japan

I sincerely recommend the impressions after using it
Okayama Castle is more sophisticated than you might think, and there are many interactive exhibitions that provide a more intuitive understanding of Okayama’s historical development. Bizen Blade Museum is easy to forget time while looking at it, I recommend you to stay more time! The live craftsman demonstration is very attractive, not just the exhibit itself, every detail speaks to the persistence and romance of Japanese knife-making culture.
