2024 Shigatse Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Shigatse is situated in southern Tibet at the confluence of the Yarlung Tsangpo and Nyang rivers. It is the second largest city in Tibet, located 3900 m above sea level. It was the political, religious and cultural center of southern Tibet for centuries – numerous Panchen Lama were based here. The area is known for its spectacular scenery and traditional Tibetan culture. It is also home to Mount Qomolangma, Yamdrok Lake (one of Tibet's three largest sacred lakes), the castle of Samdrubtse Dzong and Palcho Monastery.

Don't come to Tibet in August! I'm telling the truth!!!
Tibet, this mysterious and magnificent land, boasts enchanting scenery. Careful planning before embarking on the journey is crucial to avoid wasting precious time.
Budget and Preparation
It is recommended to reasonably arrange your budget according to your situation. Do not be too frugal, as traveling in Tibet can be relatively expensive. If you choose to fly, immediately go to a clinic or hospital for oxygen and medication if you experience altitude sickness. Do not hope to recover by just sleeping; early treatment ensures a pleasant subsequent journey.
Ways to Enter Tibet
If you have ample time, a train sleeper is a good choice. Avoid hard seats to ensure good rest and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. After arriving in Lhasa, rest at the hotel first. Avoid excessive exercise, walking, washing your hair, bathing, and drinking alcohol to prevent altitude sickness.
Food Experience
Tibet's sweet tea is sweet and delicious, while butter tea has a salty flavor. Some friends may not be accustomed to the taste of butter tea, so try it cautiously.

Special Attractions
In addition to the above attractions, Namtso Lake and Everest Base Camp are also worth visiting. The vastness and purity of Namtso Lake cleanse the soul, and Everest Base Camp allows you to experience the charm of the roof of the world up close.
Food Recommendations
Tibetan noodles, tsampa, barley wine, and yak meat are must-try delicacies. Tibetan noodles are chewy, tsampa is nutritious, barley wine is rich and mellow, and yak meat is tender and fresh.
Precautions
When taking photos with Tibetan mastiffs, lambs, and yaks by Yamdrok Lake, remember to negotiate the price with the herders in advance. Be sure to take sun protection measures when traveling, as the ultraviolet rays in Tibet are very strong.
May you have an unforgettable and wonderful journey in Tibet!
The Power of Devotion - A Tour of Tashilhunpo Monastery
🔷🔸Tashilhunpo Monastery
The full name of Tashilhunpo Monastery is "Tashilhunpo Panchen Lama Monastery", which means "Auspicious Sumeru Monastery". It is one of the six major monasteries of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It was founded in 1446. The eighth disciple of Tsongkhapa, the first Dalai Lama Gedun Drupa, in memory of his deceased mentor Sherab Senge, hired Tibetan and Nepalese craftsmen to make a 2.62-meter-high gilded bronze statue of Sakyamuni. To place this statue, Gedun Drupa, with the financial support of the Pakchu regime, began to build the monastery in September 1447, and it took 12 years to place the statue in the clean room of the monastery. The monastery was originally named "Gangjian Dianpei", and later Gedun Drupa renamed it "Tashilhunpo Monastery".
In 1601, the fourth Panchen Lama Losang Chokyi Gyaltsen became the 16th abbot of Tashilhunpo Monastery and carried out large-scale expansion. In 1713, it became the residence of the Panchen Lama.
The monastery covers an area of 150,000 square meters, surrounded by palace walls. The palace walls meander along the mountain, with a circumference of more than 3,000 meters. The entire monastery is built on a hillside, backed by high mountains, facing north to the sun, and the halls are connected in sequence, evenly distributed, and symmetrical.
There are five main halls in the temple
1. Qiangba Buddha Hall
2. Shisong Nanjie Hall
3. Panchen East Mausoleum Tashinanjie Hall
4. Coqin Hall
5. Jana Lakang
There are many cultural relics in the temple, and the golden stupa is richly decorated with barley, wheat and other items, as well as Buddhist scriptures and Buddha statues. The Maitreya statue in the Great Maitreya Hall uses more than 230,000 catties of brass and 6,700 taels of gold, and is inlaid with many gems. It is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. The stupa of the Panchen Lama is decorated with pearls and jade, and the stupa contains the sarira of the Panchen Lama.
Under the blue sky and white clouds, the monastery is like a solemn and sacred old man, standing solemnly. Walking into Zaburen Temple is like being in a kingdom of faith. The sun shines on the ancient buildings, and every brick and stone tells the story of the years. Here, you can truly feel the powerful power of faith. The devotion of the believers is like an invisible warm current, flowing in every inch of space. Admiring the exquisite architectural art, staring at the colorful murals, as if traveling through time and space, touching the pulse of history, listening to the echo of the years, the soul is also intoxicated, immersed in this sacred and beautiful atmosphere.
Drive straight to the closest place to the 8,000-meter snow mountain in Tibet.
There are too many snow mountains in Tibet, but most of them are far away from the viewing platform, and photos 📷 also need to be taken with a telephoto lens. But I found a place very, very close to the 8,000-meter snow mountain. It should be the closest place for ordinary tourists to see the 8,000-meter snow mountain.
📍Dingri County Pushila Mountain Pass
This is the only way to Rongxia Township, and it is also the best viewing platform to admire Cho Oyu. It takes about 2 hours to drive from Gangga Town, and the road conditions are very good throughout the journey.
【What snow mountains can you see here🏔️】
🛻8201 meters, the world's sixth peak, Cho Oyu
🛻7952 meters, Gezhongkang Peak
🛻6666 meters, Qiaolazang Peak
✅On the way to Pushila Mountain Pass, you can admire an 8,000-meter snow mountain, Cho Oyu, and several 6,000-meter and 7,000-meter snow mountains
✅In addition to Cho Oyu, the most eye-catching is the 6666-meter Qiaolazang Snow Mountain (Figure 5). This number is too lucky for Chinese people.
✅The only way from Gangga Town to Rongxia Gully, about 20km out of Gangga Town, you can see the perspective of P2-P3, which is very suitable for taking road photos. It is recommended to use telephoto shooting
✅The accommodation conditions in Rongxia Township and Gangga Town are not good, please consider whether to stay
Travel tips ‼️
⚠️
Be sure to bring your ID card and border pass
⚠️
It's very cold under the snow mountain, you must bring a down jacket
⚠️
When you see a place close to the snow mountain, stop the car, then climb a small hill, basically it is the best position
Note❗️
Sisters, if you want to take more pictures, you can continue to walk towards the snow mountain for a while, about 1 hour is enough.

Xinjiang-Tibet Line—
On the eighth day of the Xinjiang-Tibet Line journey, we set off from Dingri, passed through Lazi and Shigatse, and finally reached Jiangzi County, covering a total distance of 340 kilometers, which took about five and a half hours by car.
The journey is not very long, and there are no particularly important scenic spots along the way. Shortly after departure in the morning, we got on the familiar National Highway 318, passing by a 5000-kilometer monument. Now, this place has been developed into a large leisure square next to the 318. Thinking back to the days when a few people took photos around a small kilometer marker, the changes are quite significant.
In Shigatse, we experienced Tibetan cuisine at a restaurant near Tashilhunpo Monastery. Judging by the menu alone, apart from the slightly more numerous beef and mutton dishes, there is not much difference from ordinary Chinese cuisine. It seems to have been adapted, and the prices are not expensive. Many Tibetans were also dining in the restaurant.
Since it was still early, we visited the Palcho Monastery in Jiangzi County. This is a unique monastery where the Sakya, Shalu, and Gelug schools of Tibetan Buddhism coexist. I had never been here before, so I took the opportunity to visit.
Tomorrow (September 14), we will set off from Jiangzi, visit the Karola Glacier and Yamdrok Lake, and reach the final destination of this Xinjiang-Tibet Line journey in the afternoon.
Shigatse Museum is not very popular, but it's worth a visit.
It's a bit off the beaten path and there were no people when we arrived. We almost thought it was closed. Fortunately, we persisted and found that the small two-story museum had a lot of content and was great value for money!
It mainly explains the important history of Buddhism, especially the Sakya sect and other sects, and the important events in the evolution of politics and religion in the history of Shigatse, especially the friendship between the Yuan Dynasty and Tubo, some events of the Qing Dynasty, especially the counterattack of invasion by Fukang'an, the war between the British and Tibetans, and the main events of the liberation of Tibet after the founding of the People's Republic of China, which gave us a good lesson. We have a more concrete understanding of the historical development path of this region.
We spent almost 2 hours there, and there were very few people, so it didn't feel very popular.

Found a hit hotel in 'Shigatse'!
Found a hit hotel in 'Shigatse'
The Shigatse Hilton One - the highest Hilton hotel in the world.
This is my third visit to Shigatse, as the main rest stop on the way to Mount Everest, there are not many luxury hotels to choose from in Shigatse. Staying at the Hilton this time really shocked me deeply. First of all, the professional and enthusiastic service attitude of the hotel staff made me truly feel at home; secondly, as a Gold Card member, it was the first time I received such high-level treatment, the service attitude was indeed a bit overwhelming, and I was also given a special card pack representing all the zodiac years since the hotel's opening; lastly, the buffet dinner on the first floor of the hotel costs 188 per person, to be honest, I did not expect to have such quality buffet at an altitude of around 4000 meters, and the tuna sashimi is the highest quality I have ever had in any buffet.
Before coming, I also saw mixed reviews about the quality of the Shigatse Hilton online, but I think for someone who has been to Shigatse three times, including this time at the Hilton, and stayed in Shigatse hotels six times, the Shigatse Hilton is undoubtedly the best hotel in Shigatse.
The rooms have diffuse oxygen supply, and the staff had thoughtfully turned on the oxygen supply before check-in. The most basic amenities like welcome fruit and laundry service are also available. The hotel breakfast can't compare with similar hotels in the mainland, but there are also many varieties, and whatever your requirements, they can be met
Tibet Travel Tips
Traveling to Tibet during the summer, please heed the advice||‼️
Summer is coming, how can anyone go to Tibet without doing some research!
Here are some tips to avoid pitfalls from my recent trip to Tibet 🔥 I hope everyone can avoid some troubles‼️
I personally think it's more convenient to join a tour group. After all, Tibet is really big, and the distances between attractions are also very far. Accommodation and dining might be difficult to arrange because I went with a friend, so self-driving was not cost-effective. For safety reasons, we chose to join a tour group! It not only included tickets to major attractions 🎫 but also 5 days and 4 nights of boutique 🏨 accommodation, which was great 🥰
👉🏻Travel tips
⭐The temperature difference in Tibet during summer is also significant, remember to bring a windbreaker, which is windproof, warm, and UV-resistant!
⭐Ibuprofen + glucose + motion sickness patches
⭐Power bank, headphones, selfie stick, camera
⭐Eye drops: The weather in Tibet is very dry, and nosebleeds are common. You can buy the cheapest eye drops at the pharmacy, which are more convenient to carry than nasal sprays.
⭐Down jacket and windbreaker, sunscreen, sunglasses, moisturizing cream, and body lotion are recommended because Tibet is really dry. Also, it is suggested not to wash your hair or take a bath on the first day of arrival to avoid altitude sickness.
⭐A hat with a windproof strap, the wind at Everest is so strong that it makes you question life. Without a windproof strap, your hat will basically fly away every day.
⭐Disposable wet wipes: super useful, many places in Tibet don't have water. You can use them to wipe your hands after eating on the bus. They can also be used to disinfect your hands after using the restroom.

When it comes to traveling to Tibet, many people choose Lhasa for their first visit, but they definitely won't miss Shigatse the second time. Shigatse is located between the middle section of the Himalayas and the middle section of the Gangdise-Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, with Mount Everest in its Dingri County. The capital, Samzhubze District, has been established for over 600 years. Samzhubze Dzong and Gyantse Dzong were once political and religious centers.

Sunglasses are a must, the wind is so strong that you can't open your eyes
Wear thick clothes, put on gloves, Everest is particularly cold, otherwise, you will really freeze, the wind blows really hard.
The homeland is out of sight, but the same starry sky is above. Everest is no longer just the Everest in textbooks.
The Panchen Lama resides within, it's so magnificent!
The Tashilhunpo Monastery, along with the 'Three Great Monasteries' of Lhasa—Ganden, Sera, and Drepung—is known as one of the 'Four Great Monasteries' of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism and serves as the center of government for the Gelug sect. Its architecture is a fusion of traditional Tibetan styles and Buddhist elements, presenting the religious characteristics unreservedly to the world.
Built along the mountain terrain, Tashilhunpo Monastery is surrounded by winding palace walls. The majestic temple buildings, together with the palace walls, form the sacred source of the monastery. The entire complex faces south with Buddhist halls following the mountain's contour in an orderly and harmonious symmetrical layout, revealing a sense of harmony and symmetry inadvertently. The hall architecture of Tashilhunpo Monastery not only highlights religious and ethnic features but also emphasizes cultural heritage.
The Maitreya Temple is one of the grander structures within Tashilhunpo Monastery, famous for housing an almost 30-meter-tall Maitreya bronze Buddha. The temple is divided into five levels: the Lotus Throne Hall, the Chest Hall, the Face Hall, and the Crown Hall.
Location: Situated at the foot of Niseri Mountain, south of Shigatse city.
The Heart of Rear Tibet
Tashilhunpo Monastery | Comprehending Humanistic Beliefs.
Comprehending Humanistic Beliefs. Tashilhunpo Monastery is located at the foot of Nyiseri Mountain, south of Shigatse, which in Tibetan means 'Auspicious Sumeru Mountain'. It is the largest monastery in Shigatse and has been the residence of the Panchen Lamas from the 4th Panchen Lama onwards, hence it is known as the heart of Rear Tibet. Along with the three great monasteries of Lhasa, it is one of the four great monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
Before arriving in Shigatse, I had already visited the three great monasteries of Lhasa, so initially, Tashilhunpo Monastery did not make a deep impression on me. Compared to the previous three, it didn't strike me as much - until I entered the Coqen Hall.
I spent the entire afternoon in the Coqen Hall. The Great Assembly Hall, also known as Coqen Hall, is one of the earliest buildings associated with the monastery. This hall is very special compared to the three great monasteries of Lhasa, mainly consisting of a courtyard surrounded by cloisters, with many Buddha statues and murals painted around the cloisters.
In front of the Great Assembly Hall is a lecture field of over 600 square meters, where the Panchen Lama teaches and debates scriptures with the monks. Unfortunately, during my visit, the debate was not held. Pay attention to a very special place on the side of the square. Locals line up to press their ears against the wall. It is said that those with profound blessings can hear different sounds here.
At 12:30 and 4:30 in the afternoon, there are chanting sessions in the Great Assembly Hall. As the time approaches, monks will blow horns on the roof, then they will head to the hall, take off their shoes at a certain corner, and find their seats in the hall.
Dim lights, red pillars, monks draped in yellow robes, scriptures hanging from the beams... We queue outside the hall, listening to the sacred sounds of scriptures emanating from within, and a sense of sanctity naturally arises. Visitors can also queue with the locals and slowly enter the hall. Walking through the narrow corridors, the locals almost all bow their heads as they pass, as if the monks beside them are untouchable deities.
After touring the Great Assembly Hall, I sat alone on the stone steps of the square, listening to the scriptures from the hall, looking at the courtyard, and my heart seemed to become very peaceful all of a sudden...
Finally, when I was leaving, I met a young monk who was going to the Great Assembly Hall to deliver food and butter tea to the chanting monks. He smiled and handed me an apple, which made me feel very warm.
Notice
Opening hours: 09:00-19:30

Pay attention to the opening hours of each hall, some are closed from 11:30 to 15:30. Around three in the afternoon, locals start entering the monastery, and at that time the Panchen Lama's Stupa Hall will be open
Right at the entrance of the monastery is the Tashilhunpo Monastery Restaurant, where you can dine after leaving the monastery
Wait a bit longer, and a lifetime will pass
In the East Asian context, most people seem to have a sense of 'exploitation' towards themselves, and they feel guilty as soon as they relax. It's not easy to see the beautiful rivers and mountains of our motherland in our lifetime, and as we wait, a lifetime passes. This is something foreigners don't understand about our hustle and bustle, and they don't understand our ability to sacrifice so much.
The first international brand in Shigatse, Tibet - Shigatse Hilton opens its doors!
After five years of renovation and upgrading on the site of the landmark Shigatse Hotel, the Hilton Shigatse Hotel officially opens, welcoming the first international brand hotel to the 'Home of Mount Everest'. The hotel is located in the central urban area of Shigatse, only 2 kilometers away from Tashilhunpo Monastery, and 50 kilometers from Shigatse Peace Airport. Shigatse is an essential route to the Everest Base Camp, which is about 300 kilometers away.
The architectural facade is designed with the Tibetan characteristics of white and red, using unique Tibetan door decorations, eaves decorations, etc., abstractly reflecting Tibetan aesthetics. From a distance, it looks like a 'castle' rising from the plateau. The overall architecture presents a 'Hui' shaped enclosure, creating a private inner courtyard. The courtyard landscape, combined with the arrangement of the roof and the covered walkway, creates a rich and varied spatial hierarchy, giving the building a distinctive personality. Inside the building, the designers have retained the lobby and banquet hall structure of the old Shigatse Hotel, as well as the design of the ceiling caissons, allowing beautiful memories to continue.
The hotel has 301 comfortable guest rooms, with designs inspired by the natural scenery of the surrounding mountains. Natural wood and modern color tones are used to create a cozy and warm atmosphere. To alleviate the discomfort of hypoxia in the high-altitude area, the hotel is equipped with diffusive and nasal oxygen supply facilities in the rooms, helping guests better adapt to the local environment and enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday. Strolling through the various areas of the hotel, elements of Tibetan culture such as the auspicious Tibetan sheep and black-necked cranes are cleverly presented in sculptures, paintings, and other artworks, with custom Tibetan furniture and decorations in the rooms.
The hotel offers a rich variety of dining experiences, with 4 distinctive restaurants and bars serving a diverse range of Chinese and Western delicacies. The exquisite and elegant Yuxi Chinese restaurant offers Sichuan cuisine and Tibetan delicacies, with the chef boldly innovating to create a fusion of Sichuan-Tibetan cuisine, especially worth trying. The Liao|Barbecue Bar, located next to the hotel's outdoor garden, has a semi-open kitchen that allows guests to watch the chefs cook up close. The unique water feature creates a comfortable atmosphere, allowing guests to spend a wonderful time in a warm dining atmosphere. The 21-meter-high Zangyuan All-Day Dining restaurant offers themed buffets and an all-day chef's a la carte menu, featuring classic global cuisine, local Tibetan beef and mutton, and local staple foods such as Tsampa and butter tea.

Everest Five-Day Tour | Five-Day Tour in Tibet | Travel in Tibet | Small Group in Tibet
Tibet | Shigatse is more interesting than imagined!!!
Shigatse is really a surprising city.
Not only is it an important border city, but it is also an important stronghold of Tibetan Buddhism Gelug Sect, with many ancient temples, and the entire city is unexpectedly new.
BUT for drivers, there are the strictest traffic rules in Tibet here, sisters who drive by themselves must remember to abide by the speed limit, otherwise a fine of ¥1200 + 6 points is inevitable.
In fact, there are several ancient sites and temples in the surrounding counties and cities of Shigatse.
However, we stayed in Shigatse city for two nights to prepare for the border defense certificate and supplies on the weekend.
The most unexpected places we got are 1 the Tashilhunpo Monastery in the city, and 2 the Manla Reservoir, which is very photogenic and beautiful.
Karola Glacier:
The most famous glacier near Shigatse.
At an altitude of 5,000 meters, it was once the filming location of the movie Red River Valley.
The advantage is a glacier that can be reached by car, but the ice surface is actually relatively small, mainly white glaciers and bald mountains, with not many highlights.
The peak season ticket is ¥ 50, and the off-season is free. It is said that if you do not stop and just drive by, you can actually not pay the ticket.
Manla Reservoir:
I didn't expect this unremarkable reservoir to be the most beautiful place we felt from Nyingchi to Shigatse.
The real Tiffany blue, and the winter water surface is half frozen and half flowing, which is very beautiful.
You can step on the blue ice on the lake, we played by the water for most of the day, and the aerial photography can capture the layered lake surface, which is very beautiful.
There is also a prayer flag mountain nearby where you can see the panoramic view, which is also very beautiful, and the filming effect is not lost to Riyue Mountain.
Tashilhunpo Monastery:
It is very convenient in Shigatse city, and there is a parking lot next to the temple.
The temple covers an area of 300,000 square meters. In addition to the three magnificent red temples / stupas, there are many pure white lama accommodation and study areas nearby, which feels like visiting an ancient town, very comfortable.
And there are much fewer tourists than the Potala Palace, and the experience is excellent.
However, the Tashi Temple still requires a ticket of ¥ 55 in winter (peak season 100).
Although the opening hours are written as 9:30-12:30 & 15:30-18:30.
But the big temple will close around 17:30 in the afternoon.
Remember to pay attention to the time.
Mount Everest Base Camp:
The Everest Base Camp will be dismantled in winter, and there is no overnight accommodation.
You can only take a close look at Everest and the monument.
Except for the shock of seeing the snow-capped mountains at the Gawula Pass, the base camp is actually a bit boring.
Tips:
There are very strict speed limits in Shigatse city and on the way to Everest.
Violations will really be fined and deducted points.
Remember to drive in combination with navigation prompts and speed limit signs.
Pay attention to the speed camera at any time.
Shigatse can apply for a border defense certificate without a criminal record certificate, and it can be done in five minutes with an ID card, which is very convenient.
The places for the certificate are divided into
1, Shigatse Government Service Center (working day).
2, Snowy Everest Women's Certificate Room (weekend).
Friends who are going to Ali or Everest, remember to pay attention to the time of the certificate.
If you need to purchase supplies, you can buy more in Shigatse. There are large supermarkets, clothing cities, and pharmacies here, especially thick clothes and outdoor supplies can be found.
Ali's Great North Line is a must-visit in this life (1)
Shigatse has an unparalleled status in the back of Tibet, and Tashilhunpo Monastery is undoubtedly the heart of the back of Tibet. The Qiangba Buddha Hall has the world's largest gilded Buddha statue. His nostrils can accommodate a seven or eight-year-old child to pass freely. The whole body uses more than 6,700 taels of gold, and the white hair between the eyebrows uses more than 30 large diamonds; The cost of the Lingta of the Panchen Lama in the past dynasties is more than 60 million yuan, the bottom layer is filled with barley and tea, the second layer is the items used by the tenth Panchen Lama, and the third layer is the true body of the Panchen Lama. The guide of Tashilhunpo Monastery is very familiar with the monks in each hall. She said that she didn't study well when she was a child and didn't pass the exam, so she was in the temple when she was a teenager, from helping to learning to now working here, while chatting about these, she naturally picked up the garbage on the ground, holding it in her hand until she threw it into the trash can.
The architectural style of the Sakya Sect is significantly different from that of the Gelug Sect. When the car enters Sakya Village, the buildings along the way change from the red and white tone of the Gelug Sect to the red and black tone. I used to think that Basiba was the founder of the Sakya Sect. Today I learned that he was the fifth leader of the Sakya Sect and he established the Sakya regime. There are countless treasures in the South Temple. The distant white conch is said to have been used by Sakyamuni and was later given to Basiba by Kublai Khan. The scriptures of the Huihai Jing Mountain Hall are shocking, and there is also a 2-meter-long, 1-meter-wide, and 70-jin iron ring scripture. Many places in Sakya Monastery have no Chinese characters, no explanation, and are mysterious. At an altitude of 4300 meters, I climbed up the ladder of liberation with a cowhide rope, and the Buddha Hall above was mysterious and there was no explanation, no Chinese characters.
I found along the way that the 5000km monument of 318 is not at the actual measurement point.
Shigatse
Years ago, it took more than four hours to take a train from Lhasa to Shigatse, but now it only takes two and a half hours by high-speed rail. Shigatse is the second largest city in Tibet, to be honest, it now has some city feel. In the evening, I walked into a 'Xiao Family River Noodle House', it seemed quite clean, but it was quiet and no one was seen. I poked my head into the kitchen and looked around, it was really clean, I was overjoyed and decided to dine here. In just one or two minutes, a young man came out from the inside, his clothes were neat and clean, and his fingernails were also refreshing, it was indescribable! I ordered the food cheerfully and sat down.
'Sichuanese?' I asked in Sichuan dialect.
'Yes.'
'Where?'
'Suining. Are you also from Sichuan?' He added suspiciously, 'I thought you were Tibetan! You look exactly like them.' He paused for a few seconds, 'Have you been living in Tibet for a long time and been assimilated??'
I was too lazy to speak, I just wanted to roll my eyes to the back of my head.
I originally wanted to visit Qilin Gorge, but when I went to the station to ask, the ticket-selling girl was confused and said she had never heard of it. After studying the map, of course, I could first take a long-distance bus to Dingjie County or Gangba County, and then charter a car to Qilin Gorge, which would be expensive. Then how to go to Zhangmu port? Do these two county towns have cars to go? Or do I have to return to Shigatse and then transfer to Zhangmu? Both are time-consuming and costly. After weighing it up, I decided to give up Qilin Gorge and take a direct bus to Nyalam County to get to Nepal as quickly as possible. There is only one bus to Nyalam County every day, which departs at eight o'clock in the morning and takes nearly ten hours. The thought of it makes my head big, and there is no way to go in two days. Firstly, there are not many county towns along the way, secondly, it is not on the way, and thirdly, I am not sure if there is a bus to Nyalam County? Tomorrow will be an extremely painful day!!
I need to sleep in my clothes tonight, the hotel is really dirty, the boss even didn't change the bedding used by the previous tourists, the pillow emits a greasy smell, of course he denied it. The quilt also has a smell!

The circumambulation route in Zongshan, Shigatse, Tibet, is filled with solemnity and is a great place to overlook the city's beautiful scenery
After visiting Lhasa and then Shigatse, you will find this small city particularly peaceful. Even the Tashilhunpo Monastery, which is quite important in Tibet, is not as crowded as the Jokhang Temple every day. Many people have not heard of this temple, but it is actually quite significant, and it is known as one of the 'Four Great Monasteries' of the Gelug sect, along with the Ganden Monastery, Sera Monastery, and Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, and is the place where the Panchen Lamas have resided.
The temple was built in 1447 and has a history of nearly 600 years. Like the Jokhang Temple, there is a circumambulation route around the Tashilhunpo Monastery, and the Buddha display platform of the temple is located at the highest point of the circumambulation route, which is the best place to overlook Shigatse city.
'Circumambulation' is a religious activity in Tibetan Buddhism, where believers walk along a specific route while praying and prostrating. People believe that circumambulation is equivalent to chanting sutras, and it is the best way to eliminate disasters, avoid disasters, and accumulate merit.
The Tashilhunpo Monastery covers a large area, and the golden prayer wheels are densely surrounded around the temple, forming a strong contrast with the white outer walls. These outer walls are made of local white lime mixed with a large amount of milk, sugar, etc., adding such sweet food can make the paint more sticky, make the wall more solid, and not easy to fall off.
There are not many people on the circumambulation route, which makes it more solemn and solemn. You can gently turn the prayer wheel, you can walk quietly, you can pray silently.
This small city sleeps at the foot of the mountain, with golden temple roofs, white stupas, and low houses, without decoration, naturally beautiful and touching.
On the circumambulation route, you can always encounter many Tibetan elements, blue is the sky, red, yellow and white are the outer walls of the temple buildings, gold is the top of the tower, orange, green are the prayer flags... The sun makes the colors become passionate, and the journey of circumambulation appears mysterious and devout.
The Samzhubzê Dzong stands on the top of the Sunlight Mountain, closely connected with the mountain, as if it grew out of the rock. Looking from a distance, the palace is magnificent and spectacular, really reminiscent of the Potala Palace.
For foreign tourists, the circumambulation route is a landscape, while for believers, the circumambulation route is faith and devotion, it is a piece of piety, the circumambulation route has the vastness of long rivers and mountains, and the expectation of peace for a lifetime.
Tibet, Tashilhunpo Monastery
Located in Shigatse City, Tashilhunpo Monastery, also known as 'Auspicious Sumeru Monastery', is the largest temple in Shigatse City, Tibet, and the residence of successive Panchen Lamas since the fourth generation, and one of the national key cultural relics protection units. It is ranked alongside Ganden Monastery, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, Ta'er Monastery in Qinghai, and Labrang Monastery in Gansu as the 'Six Major Monasteries' of the Gelug Sect.
Many people say that when you go to Shigatse, Tibet, you must visit Tashilhunpo Monastery. Unlike the bustling Jokhang Temple, Ramoche Temple and Potala Palace, it is very quiet here, and sincere devotees kneel and worship here.
This is where the tenth Panchen Lama Erdini Qoigyijabu passed away, and there are also pagodas of successive Panchen Lamas. The pagodas are decorated with pearls and various jade stones, and there are butter lamps that never go out all year round. The flames flicker in the breeze, making the pagodas seem alive.
This temple is quiet and peaceful, like an old village, without worldly intrigues, without the noise of the world. Here, what we feel is the sincerity of the worshippers and the transcendence of the masters when they chant sutras. Under the blue sky and white clouds, Tashilhunpo Monastery is even more sacred. Therefore, it is said that if you come to Tibet, you must come to Shigatse, and if you come to Shigatse, you must come to Tashilhunpo Monastery!
