The modern Japanese atmosphere is incredibly stunning😳 The room comes with a semi-open-air bath featuring free-flowing natural hot spring water♨️ Since the source water is blazing hot at 98°C, it is perfectly adjusted with cold water for the ideal bathing temperature☻ You can take a dip whenever you like, 24 hours a day, so you'll want to hop in again and again even after visiting the large public bath🥹 The light filtering through the blinds is beautiful, making even the vanity area look picture-perfect✨ It's also fully equipped with a music player and a NESPRESSO machine☕️ Being able to slowly enjoy your time in the room is a great perk◎ In the lobby, there's a welcome drink service exclusively from 15:00 to 17:00🍹 We even got to enjoy seasonal teas carefully selected by an exclusive tea producer🍵 There’s also a large public bath on the first floor♨️ The men's and women's baths are swapped out, so you can enjoy baths with different atmospheres✨ They also offer complimentary tea and popsicles after your bath🍨 Dinner and breakfast are served at the dining restaurant "Oriori"🍽️ Actually, the room we stayed in and both won a Silver Award at the World Design Awards👏 They are so refined and beautiful🥺 Dinner was a creative kaiseki using plenty of fresh ingredients from the San'in region✨ This time, I treated myself to an upgrade and enjoyed Tajima beef grilled on a ceramic plate🥹 Everything was so delicious; I was truly blown away! I headed to Yumura Onsen in northern Hyogo, a place I've been curious about for a while 🚗✨ I took a leisurely stroll through the retro townscape♪ 📍 Shinonsen Town, Hyogo Prefecture | Yumura Onsen @onsen.tengoku The first stop was 📍 Yumechiyokan 🏮 Admission fee (300 yen) It's a mini-museum that recreates the world of the NHK drama "Yumechiyo Nikki" and the retro atmosphere of a Showa-era hot spring town. With alleyways, inns, and even a traditional candy store resembling the sets used in the drama, it made me feel super nostalgic ☺️ The main character of "Yumechiyo Nikki" is modeled after the true story of an "in utero atomic bomb survivor" who was in the womb of a mother exposed to the atomic bombing in Hiroshima. On the second floor, there are exhibits conveying a wish for peace, which made me rethink the tragedy of war and the importance of life 🕊️ 📍 Yugetsutei Obaa Cafe @yuzukitei_kuromamecha A cafe housed in a 130-year-old traditional Japanese house ☕️ It's run by "grandmas" with an average age of 76 who graduated from the local Japanese sweets shop "Tajimaju" 👏 ⚫︎ Onigiri Set (700 yen) Comes with a large rice ball, miso soup, and 3 small side dishes 🍙 The homemade chili miso was incredibly delicious, so I bought some as a souvenir ✨ It gave me a warm, cozy feeling, like visiting my own grandma's house. 📍 Tojikan A sake museum where you can learn about the tools and history of sake brewing by the Tajima Toji, one of Japan's "Four Great Toji" alongside Nanbu, Echigo, and Tanba 🍶 Old barrels, sake bags, and vats used up until the Showa period are on display. You can usually do sake tasting as well, but unfortunately, it was their regular day off (Wednesday) when I went 🥲 📍 Arayu The symbol of Yumura Onsen ♨️ It's a hot spring source with about 1,200 years of history, and it boasts one of the highest temperatures in Japan at about 98 degrees Celsius 😳 ⚫︎ 3 Eggs (200 yen) You boil them in the spring source for about 10-15 minutes to make "onsen tamago" (hot spring eggs) 🥚 Just below Arayu, there's a 20-meter-long footbath, and waiting while relaxing and gazing at the river was the best feeling ☺️ The banks of the Haruki River flowing right through the middle of Yumura Onsen are well-maintained with stepping stones and promenades, making it perfect for a stroll 🌿 It's so healing! It's not a flashy tourist spot, but it's a place where you can take your time walking around the hot spring town, eat, take a dip, and relax. Separate changing rooms for men and women are also available. While bathing requires swimwear, some men are not.

I stopped at Hamasaka Station on my way to Tottori. There's a foot bath next to the station; it opens at 10 AM. There are no convenience stores nearby. Eating options are limited. The main practicalities are waiting for the train and using the restroom.
