🚗 Getting there
Self-drive: Take the highway from Jilin or Changchun, 1.5–2 hours to Shulan city center. County attractions are spread out, so driving is recommended. Some mountain roads have many curves, drive carefully.
Public transport: High-speed train to Shulan station, convenient city travel. For outlying attractions, car rental with driver is suggested, about 200 CNY/day.

1️⃣ Phoenix Mountain Scenic Area ⛰️
A historic mountain in Jilin, a national AA-level scenic spot. The elevation is low, so hiking is easy and not tiring. The mountain hosts the grand Wanfo Temple, an ancient temple nestled in the forest, plus Heilong Pond and Lanshengtai viewing platform. From the summit, enjoy views of the Songhua River and surrounding mountains. Cool off in summer, admire colorful leaves in autumn, a perfect blend of culture and nature.

3️⃣ Shui’erha Wetland Park 🪷
In Manchu, it means “beautiful lotus lake.” In summer, thousands of lotus flowers bloom, lotus leaves stretch endlessly, egrets and water birds weave through the reeds. You can take a boat ride through the lotus pond for an immersive experience. In autumn, the reeds turn golden and migratory birds stop here. This pristine wetland is an oxygen-rich natural park, free to enter, great for family walks and relaxation.

Shulan’s top autumn attraction, a 40+ km natural red leaf valley. After the first frost, maple trees cover the mountains in vibrant colors with rich layers. It’s not overly commercialized, and you can enjoy the brilliant fall scenery by driving along the highway.

5️⃣ Erhe Snow Village ❄️

A special attraction in China’s ecological rice capital, available July–September. Giant images are created in the rice paddies, with wooden walkways weaving through. The wind ripples the rice waves, creating a full rural atmosphere. Tickets 20–30 CNY, perfect for drone photography.
