Step into a fairytale world at Peles Castle
Peles Castle, in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains, is a true masterpiece of architecture and design, featuring a blend of styles that range from Gothic to Renaissance and Baroque.
Built in the late 19th century as the summer residence of King Carol I, it was the first European castle to have electricity and central heating. Visitors can admire the richly decorated rooms, filled with antique furniture, paintings, sculptures, and tapestries.
Don't miss the chance to stroll through the beautiful gardens and forests surrounding the castle, offering stunning views of the mountains and valleys.

Pelisor
#bucketlistreboot
Pelisor Do go outside also and take some photos on the terraces as they do offer amazing views of the gardens. Following from this head over to the other castle, Pelisor. The castle was built in 1899–1902 by order of King Carol I, as the residence for his nephew and heir, the future King Ferdinand (son of Carol’s brother Leopold von Hohenzollern) and Ferdinand’s consort Queen Marie. Economat Vila Complex Another place you can see but also take a short break and enjoy an Amandina (yes, you have to try this decadent Romanian chocolate dessert) is the Economat/”At the towers” Vila complex. Economat is the former Royal Guard Office of Peles Castle, located on the Royal Domain directly opposite the castle and just 100 metres from Pelisor Castle.

One should be aware that there are 2 gondolas. A state run one which starts from behind the New Montana hotel and a second one which starts from “Cota 1400m”. The latter is only accessible by car. You could take a bus as well but you’ll need to consider walking as part of that. Whichever means you choose, once you are up at 2000 m, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views and amazing fresh powder snow. After all, you are in the mountains! The ski slopes are on both sides of the “Valea Dorului” valley enchanting the skier with ever so beautiful snowed peaks. One can also ski from 2000 m all the way to 1600 m however, beware not all sections are wide enough.

Beautiful Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania 🇷🇴. Definitely worth a visit!
Sinaia 🇷🇴, the famous mountainous city where the Royal (Aldovian 😃) Romanian family reside. Although, Netflix seems to have brought international fame to this mountain resort by choosing it for its famous Christmas movies, Sinaia has always enjoyed the spotlight when it comes to attention.
It’s built in Neo-Renaissance and was the residence of King Charles I. It’s now a museum of national heritage artefacts.
Interesting fact – Peles Castle was the first castle in Europe to be lighten up with locally produced electricity. Take that!

Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) The first castle with electricity
Romania’s spectacular Peles Castle has become well known for being the first castle in the world to have electricity installed in it, but visitors will soon discover it has far more to offer than just that.
Despite being a ‘new’ castle, in fact the newest in Europe this Royal residence includes beautiful and opulent architecture, richly decorated in a neo-renaissance style with stunning garden La overlooking the surrounding mountains which are often snowcapped throughout the winter #romania #castle #voyagevibes
Day trip to two Castles in Bucherest
Romania free travel.
Lazy syndrome. The trip was in June, but I didn't summarize it until November. I originally wanted to take the train to Romania. Who knew that after arriving at the bus station in Ruse, I saw a minibus directly to Bucharest. The ticket lady was also enthusiastic and found two seats. Well, that's it. We arranged to go in a triangle, first to Sibiu, then Brasov, and finally back to Bucharest via Sinaia (one-day tour).
1. The best experience is Sinaia (mainly Pele Castle), a little regretful that the one-day tour was too rushed, and I should have stayed for one night. Next is Sibiu, Brasov, which is relatively boring. Dracula's Castle is purely a waste of time. There are actually many attractions in Bucharest.
2. Overall, Romanian food is more exquisite than Bulgarian food, and of course, the prices are also more expensive. Pay attention to the portion size when ordering, otherwise, it will cause unnecessary waste. The last picture is in a famous local restaurant. I ordered too much for lunch, packed half of it, but didn't eat it, and finally threw it away.
3. The train is too slow. On the first day, it took nearly 6 hours to get from Bucharest to Sibiu! I considered taking a bus, but it didn't save much time and was more expensive. If time is limited, you can consider skipping Sibiu. Train tickets can be booked online as long as it is within a month. The ticket inspector will scan the code to verify the ticket.
4. Except for the capital Bucharest, there are not many international chain hotels. You can explore the local old hotels, which have a unique flavor. The breakfast level varies, but it should be no problem to eat enough.
I hope it helps everyone.

aurora_seraphine_morningstar One of the most beautiful castles in Europe - Peles Castle.
Located in the Southern Carpathians, about 130 kilometers north of the Romanian capital Bucharest, is the fairy-tale town of Sinaia, which has a history of 300 years. Known as the "Pearl of the Carpathians", the famous Peles Castle is located on a slope there.
Peles Castle was built in 1873 and was a holiday resort for the Romanian royal family. The entire castle has 160 rooms and houses many precious artworks and exquisite furniture. It is one of the most beautiful and attractive castles in Europe. Today, it has become a world-famous museum.
Peles Castle is ideally located. Looking out from the castle, you can see forests and snow-capped mountains, with a blue lake and large green grasslands nearby. Therefore, it is also recognized as the most beautiful place in Romania. Because of this magnificent royal summer palace, Sinaia is also known as the "Pearl of the Carpathians".
The owner of this castle is Queen Elizabeth, who is a person who pays attention to life and details. The castle has two floors and 20 of the 160 rooms are open to visitors. The exquisite carvings in the rooms are superb, and every door handle and metal parts of the hinge are carefully carved.
The castle houses a variety of paintings, sculptures, furniture, porcelain, and gems, as well as movable glass ceilings. Every scene is breathtaking.
The reception room, banquet hall, small theater, and weapon room... The facilities in the castle are complete and powerful. The style of each room is also very different, with German style, Turkish style, Austrian style... almost everything.
Fine products from all over the world are gathered in this castle, with exquisite carpets, gorgeous chandeliers, exquisite sculptures, and gem-inlaid tables... Almost every place, every object, every centimeter, is extremely luxurious.
Extremely luxurious and exquisite, classical and modern, whether in terms of decoration or practicality, there is no doubt that this castle is the best I have ever seen. It integrates everything that can be integrated and includes all the functions of the castles we have seen.

Peles Castle, Sinaia, Prahova, Romania.
When we went to visit, the castle itself was unfortunately closed, but we were still able to walk the grounds. It was one of the first castles I visited and it was truly beautiful and a place you would actually want to live in. It was really beautiful. The colors, the statues, the details of the architecture...
A very beautiful place. The interior was all closed in February, and we heard that in the summer people queue for hours. The exterior is very beautiful and feels like a piece of Bavaria in Romania. There are small coffee shops and souvenir stores. The road is steep and gravelly which would be a challenge for wheelchair users. Our visit was really enjoyable but I would recommend a guide.
I wish it had been open so we could see the inside which I can only guess about. I will definitely visit again soon.
The pictures are from 2 locations. One is from Peles Castle Sinaia , and one, it’s from Cantacuzino Castle. Amazing places to visit in Brasov Romania.

Sinaia Town Hall

Sinaia Town Hall Go to the Town Hall area and surround yourself with all the Christmas decorations. They’ll for sure brighten up your evening! (see what I did there? ). Other places worth visiting: George Enescu Memorial Museum – Famous Romanian composer’s house Știrbey Castle – Memorial house of the Știrbey family which was one of the more prominent and wealthier boyar (noble) families in Wallachia, and had been so since the 15th century
A town that is safe and full of history can be a perfect retreat for a short weekend or even holiday for families or solo travellers. Its safe streets and easy to get to access make it a great location for you to explore.

Sinaia, situated along the Prahova river, is conveniently located 2 hours by train from Bucharest or 1 hour away from Brasov. Assuming you want to fly in, your best bet is Bucharest airport.
Sinaia Monastery
From there, head up through the forest on the path behind the Casino to the monastery itself. An excellent display of a Romanian monastery. A word of caution, however, whilst this monastery looks impressive and massive, it doesn’t look like a typical one you’d expect to find in other parts such as in Moldova. Remember, Sinaia has received a lot of attention and funds have helped the area develop.

Architecture & a royal walk in Sinaia.
Skiing is one thing to do in Sinaia but there are plenty of places to discover in the local area.
Once you’re done with your skiing feel free to start exploring the town itself. You could start off from the station itself and see the Royal Station (right next to the main one). Sinaia Casino Progress up the stairs to Dimitrie Ghica Park, the main central park. Over there you will see a few landmarks such as the Caraiman Hotel, Hotel Palace and the Casino. All worth a photo for sure! Excellent display of architecture from a bygone era.
