Itinerary
Day 1: Exploring the Springs and Encountering the Charm of the Old Town 🌊
Upon arrival, head straight to the Quanlin Spring Scenic Area (entrance fee 25 RMB). Known as the "Crown of Shandong's Springs," stroll along the Red Stone Spring and Pearl Spring, watching the gurgling waters. Visit the spot where Confucius lamented "Time flows like this," and explore the Imperial Bridge and the Ancient Bian Bridge to experience its millennia-old cultural heritage. In the evening, stroll along the willow-lined banks of the Jihe River in Jihe Park, enjoying the gentle scenery where the Sihe and Jihe Rivers meet. The evening breeze is incredibly soothing.
For dinner, head to the old street of the county town. Take a bite of the crispy Sishui flatbread and slurp down a bowl of spicy and sour Tiger Bites Melon Noodles. A meal for about 20 RMB per person is enough to fill you up, full of local flavor and vibrant atmosphere.
Day Two: Exploring the Valley and Discovering Hidden Gems ⛰️
In the morning, visit Xihou Valley (free), known as the "Largest Canyon in Southern Shandong." With its crisscrossing ravines and lush pine trees, you can even see waterfalls cascading like white ribbons during the rainy season. Visit unique rock formations like General Stone and Fairy Footprints. Hiking and breathing in the fresh air is incredibly therapeutic. In the afternoon, head to Longmen Lingwu. Climb Longmen Mountain to see the spectacular stone gate formed by two peaks standing side by side. Explore the Lianhuan Reservoir and the thousand-year-old Lingguang Temple Guanyin Hall. Every scene where mountains and water blend seamlessly is a photogenic gem.
For dinner, we enjoyed a hearty Sishui meal: tender, stewed Sishui sticky chicken, paired with flavorful braised lamb head from Songjia, and a bowl of Quanlin meatball soup – absolutely delicious! 🍲
Day 3: Leisurely Stroll Through the Mountains and Return Home with Local Products 🛒
In the morning, we visited Anshan Chunxiu (free admission), saw the thousand-year-old ginkgo tree that takes six or seven adults to encircle, watched the bubbling waters of Yongzhu Spring, and explored the ruins of Anshan Temple. The tranquility of the mountains was overwhelming. For lunch, we ate local home-style dishes at a nearby farmhouse: stewed rice noodles with smoked tofu and stir-fried sweet potato noodles – authentic hometown flavors.
Before heading home, we browsed the local specialty shops, picking up Sishui rice noodles, Jinchuan peanuts, and Sishui Bian stone ornaments for just over ten yuan – excellent value for money, bringing home the taste and unique characteristics of Sishui.
