Stockholm Hagaparken: Chinese Pavilion to Butterfly House Royal Deer Park Stroll
#worthitornot Hagaparken in Solna, north of central Stockholm, is where the royal family still lives (Haga Palace, behind fences, not tourable) but the public gets the rest: 140 hectares of English-style royal park, free, open sunrise to 10 pm. I take the metro blue line to Huvudsta then walk 15 min, or bus 515 from Odenplan. The loop I love is 4 km: start at the Chinese Pavilion (Kinesiska Paviljongen, 1769, built for Adolf Fredrik, open inside only on guided summer Sundays at 60 SEK), cross the echoing Great Pond where Gustavian royalty staged mock naval battles, pass the Copper Tents (military-style royal guard barracks, exterior only), then cut northeast to the Butterfly House (Fjärilshuset, adult 195 SEK, tropical dome with free-flying owls and 400 butterflies). From there the path joins the royal deer park’s old oak stand—fallow deer sometimes drift to the fence line. Practical: the Butterfly House is the only paid node; everything else is free. Card everywhere, the kiosk by the pond takes Swish. Mistake I made: going midday in August—the tropical dome is 28°C and 80% humidity, you sweat through your shirt, then step out into 19°C park air and chill fast; bring a dry layer. Drones banned, swimming in the pond fined, off-trail biking discouraged. The park’s magic is the contrast: a 1700s chinoiserie pavilion, then a 1990s butterfly biome, then a 2020s royal security fence—all in one walk. Question: does mixing ornamental pavilions with a tropical ticketed dome dilute the “royal park” feel, or does it make Haga more honestly Swedish than a preserved museum-piece garden?

Highly recommend this hotel! Took a bus from airport, bus stop is really just in front of the hotel. Getting around is easy as there are buses going to the Central Town. Free flow of coffee and tea in the Living Room which is beautifully decorated. Staffs are extremely helpful, genuinely warm and sincere. They serve the healthiest breakfast with turmeric and ginger shots!

Vietnamese comfort for dinner 🍜✨
We had our dinner at Bun Bo Hue in Stockholm, enjoying a cozy atmosphere and dishes made with fresh ingredients and plenty of choices on the menu. We started with crispy fried nems as an appetizer, followed by comforting bowls of pho and bún bò Huế, paired with refreshing passion fruit drinks. A perfect mix of rich flavors and cozy vibes 🇻🇳💛

Hagaparken
I usually never had the courage to travel alone, but thanks to the travel subsidy in November, I mustered up the courage to take a solo trip to Tokyo. Starting from Sensoji Temple, I was able to proceed with all my plans at my own pace. At the bustling Nakamise Street, I took my time selecting souvenirs, and at the main hall, I spent a long time reflecting in peace. It was a time where I could focus solely on myself without any interruptions. Especially with the reduced burden of accommodation costs, I was able to stay in a nice hotel and get plenty of rest even while traveling alone. For those hesitating to travel solo, I highly recommend taking this opportunity to give it a try.

Haga Park

November in Rome, Italy, had perfect weather for traveling. I visited Borghese Park, bought some simple sandwiches and coffee, and enjoyed a picnic. Unlike the red architecture of Sensoji Temple, Rome exuded a unique atmosphere with a blend of ancient ruins and lush trees. Borghese Park was particularly quiet in late autumn due to the low number of visitors, allowing me to spend a leisurely afternoon under a clear sky. It was a perfect day enjoying both art and nature, including a visit to a gallery within the park. Thanks to the travel support, I was able to avoid the hot sun and crowds of the peak season and fully enjoy the true romance of Rome.

Hagaparken.
The thick incense smoke rising from the giant incense burner right in front of the main hall of Sensoji Temple captures the attention of visitors. There is a superstition here that exposing your body to this incense smoke can heal ailments or improve health. Watching people fanning the smoke towards their heads or shoulders with their hands was quite unique and amusing. I, too, wanted to get rid of my headache and fatigue, so I let the smoke envelop my head. The strong scent of the incense seemed to cleanse my mind as well. Beyond the superstition, the moment of pausing in front of the incense burner to pray for the health of my family and myself was truly meaningful. It was a precious experience where I could personally engage with Japan's traditional healing culture, beyond just sightseeing. I highly recommend trying this incense smoke when you visit Sensoji Temple.

Nakamise-dori, the main street leading to Sensoji Temple, was a veritable street food paradise. The aromas of various snacks wafting from both sides of the 250-meter-long shopping street were impossible to ignore. Warm **agemanju** (fried dumplings) and freshly baked, chewy dango (sweet rice cakes) were a must-try on the chilly November day. The crispy, savory **senbei** (rice crackers) were especially delicious, perfect eaten on the spot. Thanks to the subsidy, I was able to indulge without skimping on snacks. The walk to Sensoji Temple's main hall was never boring, thanks to the combination of shopping and food. Nakamise-dori wasn't just a path to a temple; it felt like a giant theme park filled with traditional Tokyo food. I highly recommend exploring Sensoji Temple on a full stomach.

The most efficient way to use travel subsidies is to travel during the off-season in November. Airfare and accommodation costs are significantly cheaper compared to peak seasons, allowing for a longer trip within the same budget. Another advantage is that major tourist attractions, such as Sensoji Temple or popular European destinations, are not as crowded as during peak seasons, making it more enjoyable to explore. In particular, visiting Sensoji Temple on a weekday morning instead of the weekend offered a much more serene experience. The combination of the tranquility of the off-season and the travel subsidies created the ultimate cost-effective trip. This journey made me realize that there’s no need to insist on taking summer vacations.

Hagaparken
The trip to Tokyo, supported by the November travel subsidy, began with the overwhelming presence of Sensoji, a symbol of the city. The moment I looked up at the giant red lantern of Kaminarimon, I couldn't stop pressing the camera shutter. Standing at 4 meters tall and weighing 700 kilograms, taking a photo under the lantern was a must-do. November's clear weather and soft sunlight made the red architecture shine even more vividly. The statues of Fujin and Raijin standing on either side of the gate left a striking impression, as if they were alive. Walking through Nakamise Street to the main hall, I could feel the vitality and traditional beauty that have been passed down since the Edo period. It was a late autumn trip I might have hesitated to take without the subsidy, but it allowed me to fully enjoy the essence of traditional Japanese architecture. Visiting early in the morning to avoid the crowds and enjoy a serene atmosphere was the best decision.

A Must-Try Fast Food Chain in Scandinavia
MAX Burgers is a well-known fast food chain in Scandinavian countries, beloved by locals even more than McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC. So, when I arrived in Sweden, I decided I had to try this fast food burger joint that isn't available in Taiwan! This time, I visited the Max near the Solna Centrum metro station in Sweden, planning to have a hearty meal before touring the metro station. Compared to the high cost of living in Scandinavia, the prices here are relatively affordable, and you can order unique items like avocado juice.

Ulriksdal Palace is a journey through Swedish royal
Ulriksdal Palace, located on the banks of Edsviken in Solna, just north of Stockholm, Sweden, is a magnificent royal residence with a rich history and stunning surroundings. Originally built in the 17th century, the palace has undergone several renovations and expansions, making it a fascinating blend of architectural styles and a popular destination for visitors.
Ulriksdal Palace was commissioned by Jakob De la Gardie in the 1640s and designed by the prominent architect Hans Jacob Kristler. Over the centuries, it has been a residence for various Swedish monarchs and nobles. Named after Ulrika Eleonora, wife of King Karl XI, the palace has played a significant role in Sweden's royal history.#localguides #historicallandmarks #palace

[Solna, Sweden] Giò High-quality accommodation not far from the city center High-quality choice
📍Giò Hotel in Solna, Sweden
If you are visiting Stockholm and are worried that hotels in the city are too expensive, Giò Hotel in Solna is a very good alternative. The hotel is not far from the city center, only 15 minutes' drive away. There is a bus stop outside the hotel that goes directly to the city center. It only takes 40 minutes from the airport to the hotel, and there is a direct bus, which is suitable for travelers who want to easily travel to the city and the airport.
Giò is a four-star hotel, but I personally feel that the value for money is close to that of a basic 5* hotel. The hotel's breakfast is very rich, offering a variety of fresh juices and Swedish meatballs, which are definitely a must-try every morning!
The center of Stockholm is famous for its charming old buildings, cultural venues and shopping areas. You can visit the Royal Palace, the Swedish National Museum, the famous City Hall and more. Stockholm’s suburbs offer plenty of beautiful natural scenery and charming towns, such as Södermalm, Gripsholm and Uppsala, which can be easily explored by bus.
