Taking the mountain train to Štrbské Pleso is a popular route in the High Tatras, and the train is often filled with hikers. The High Tatras offer numerous hiking trails, and we chose to take a leisurely walk around Štrbské Pleso, a loop of about 2.5 km. The flat trail is easy and enjoyable to walk. Situated at an altitude of 1,346 meters, the lake is surrounded by the peaks of the Tatras, creating a stunning landscape. Unfortunately, the thick cloud cover made the walk comfortable but prevented the lake from displaying its most beautiful blue hue as expected.

The High Tatras are well-marked and generally safe, but the weather can change quickly, so pack a lightweight rain jacket. This trek wasn’t just about the destination—it was about embracing the journey through Slovakia’s pristine mountain wilderness.

There is a village on the shore of the lake, the same name as the lake, picturesque, for visiting, skiing and healing centers.
