On the second day of the autumn exhibition period, start a one-day three-island hopping trip from Marugame: Marugame ~ Honjima ~ Takamijima ~ Kurishima ~ Suda Port. Compared to the popular Naoshima and Teshima, the autumn limited islands have far fewer visitors. No need to line up at the port long in advance to board the ferry, making the overall experience more comfortable. When arriving at Honjima, it happened to be the opening ceremony? Many island residents welcomed everyone at the port and thoughtfully gave out souvenirs. Honjima: The visit takes about 3.5-4 hours. It’s a 15-20 minute walk from Honjima Port to Kasajima settlement, and it’s totally fine to walk without taking the bus. Takamijima: The visit takes about 2 hours. The island is small, and the exhibition areas are all along one route, featuring all kinds of chairs. But endless stairs... Along the way, wooden sticks are thoughtfully provided for everyone to use as hiking poles. It can be called the Island of Chairs and Stairs (). Kurishima: The visit takes about 2 hours. The exhibits are also very concentrated, and the overall feeling is full of various fun elements. After viewing the exhibits, wandering around you’ll find many interesting decorations. Food: It’s recommended to have lunch on Honjima, where there are some shops near the port. You can also choose the No. 22 exhibition restaurant on Takamijima, which serves curry made from invasive species on the island~ 🚢 Transport: There are ferries between Honjima, Takamijima, and Kurishima, so you can plan according to the timetable. #Domestic Transportation I rode on the tourist train "Shikoku Manaka Sennen Monogatari" where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Shikoku! This time, I rode on the "Shiawase no Sato Kikou" which connects Tadotsu Station to Oboke Station. I enjoyed a relaxing and luxurious train journey while looking at the beautiful mountains and valleys of Shikoku. 🚃Interior atmosphere and service The interior of the train is Japanese modern, with a calm atmosphere like a high-class inn. The windows are designed to be large, so you can enjoy the spectacular view from any seat. The staff are also kind and explain the history and sights along the line, so it was not just a ride, but a learning journey. 🚃Food and beverage service This time, I did not make a lunch reservation, but ordered a cake set. The sweets have an elegant sweetness and go perfectly with coffee and tea. The cake I ate while looking at the view from the window was amazing! Next time, I would like to try the special lunch plan. 🚃View from the train window As we travel along the Yoshino River, the color of the river changes to a beautiful emerald green, and the view of the Oboke and Koboke valleys is particularly spectacular! It is pitch black near the station at night, and the park's entrance at the foot of the mountain is also lacking in lighting. Kagawa is famous for its udon! When I visited around 10:30 AM on a weekday, it was bustling with locals. I ordered the popular Ontama Bukkake (small). You can freely add toppings like green onions, ginger, seaweed, and tempura crumbs 👍️ The chicken tempura was crispy, and the udon had a great chewy texture and was delicious! You can meet cats as soon as you get off the ferry. Walking around the island, I encountered cats with various patterns depending on the area!
