THE GREAT GALLERIA
The great Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was planned by Giuseppe Mengoni and built between 1865 and 1877 on one side of Piazza del Duomo and on the other side of Piazza della Scala. With a dome soaring 48 meters above its mosaic floor, it was Europe's largest shopping arcade at the time.
It is a magnificent example of 19th-century industrial iron and glass construction, and it marks the beginning of modern architecture in Italy. And it's still a lovely, lively neighborhood where folks congregate for lunch or coffee in exquisite cafés and shop in high-end boutiques. It has become so ingrained in Milanese culture that locals refer to it as "il salotto" (the salon).

CELEBRATORY MONUMENT
A monument commemorating the first monarch of Italy, Victor Emanuel II, stands in the center seated on a galloping horse (Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II). The statue is just in front of the Duomo di Milano. It’s not just a good spot for photo opportunities but also a good spot to just sit and admire the grandeur of the church.
Victor Emanuel II served as a rallying point for Italian nationalists, regardless of their political affiliations (monarchists, Republicans, etc.). He was also a vital conduit and figurehead for Cavour's contact and pacts with Napoleon III - King to Emperor communication.

📍 FISHERMAN’s BASTION
It took approximately two decades to complete the neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque structure. In 1902, it was opened to the public. The bastion houses an equestrian statue of Stephen I, and the terrace includes seven towers that commemorate the seven Magyar tribes who formed Hungary.
The Fisherman's Bastion offers one of the best panoramic views of the Hungarian Parliament, as well as the Danube River and Margaret Island.
You will not only be able to take the best shots of the landscape and the Bastion if you visit this majestic monument shortly before dark, but you will also be able to appreciate the breathtaking vistas of Pest lit up.

🏰 FAIRYTALE SCENE IN THE CITY 🏰
The largest museum of agriculture in Europe is housed in an exceptional edifice at the Castle of Vajdahunyad on the Széchenyi-island near Városliget, Budapest. Ignác Alpár, the architect, combined many architectural styles, incorporating various components and details from well-known historical structures in Hungary.
The complex's architecture is a mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.
Vajdahunyad castle (Corvin castle, now in Romania), the clock tower in Sighişoara (Romania), the Romanesque Church in Yak (Hungary), the Baroque Esterházy Palace (Austria), and a variety of other castles, towers, churches, and historical landmarks are all represented in the architecture of the castle.
On the basis of the part of the palace visible from the lake, citizens of Budapest termed this complex of structures "Vajdahunyad castle." The structure was originally built for the Millennial Exhibition, and it has been home to the agricultural museum since 1897.

🏰💕THE ROMANTIC CASTLE 💕🏰
The most romantic and one of the most magnificent castles in Budapest is Vajdahunyad Castle (Hungarian name: Vajdahunyad vara or Vajdahunyad-var).
Despite its resemblance to older castles, the Vajdahunyad Castle was built in 1896 in preparation for Hungary's 1000th anniversary celebrations. It was designed by architect Ignatz Alpara, who wanted his creation to represent elements from the country's thousand-year history and architectural evolution.

FINEST ART MUSEUM 👌🏻🇭🇺
📍Museum of Fine Arts
The Museum of Fine Arts, one of Budapest's top museums, is the most iconic structure in Heroes' Square, facing the Palace of Art. It was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style, between 1900 and 1906.
The Museum of Fine Arts, housed in a grand Renaissance-style building that reopened in late 2018 after three years of renovations, houses the city's most outstanding collection of foreign works of art, ranging from ancient Egyptian art to stellar collections of Spanish, Flemish, Italian, and German art. For the first time in four decades, it also contains Hungarian art. The collection's nucleus is Count Miklós Esterházy's private collection, which was purchased by the state in 1870.
The next time I set foot in this historical city, I will surely visit this and the other 56+ museums and exhibitions in Budapest.

HEROES MEMORIAL 🇭🇺
Hsök tere (Heroes' Square) is one of Budapest's main squares. The Millennium Memorial, which includes the seven chieftains of the Magyar tribes who created Hungary and other key heads of state, is one of the city's most recognizable icons. A huge column capped by Archangel Gabriel stands between the statues.
The square is located at the end of Andrássy Avenue, one of Budapest's main thoroughfares. In 2002, the plaza and Andrássy Avenue were both designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This massive open plaza is one of Budapest's most iconic and photographed vistas.
The Millennium Monument was constructed for the 1896 Millennium celebrations, hence the name.
The column is surrounded by a semicircled colonnade with statues of Hungarian rulers and heroes. In front of the column is the Hungarian War Memorial. It honors heroes who gave their lives in the fight for Hungary's freedom.

🚉 🚂 THE HISTORIC RAILWAY STATION 🚂🚉
The instant I stepped out of the van, I was enthralled with Budapest's lovely cityscape. The Keleti Railway Station was the first thing that caught my sight as awe-inspiring.
Budapest Keleti (which translates to "Eastern Station") is Hungary's largest international and local railway hub. It was constructed in a lovely eclectic design around the end of the nineteenth century.
The majority of trains arriving in Budapest from foreign countries arrive and depart at Budapest Keleti train station, which is listed among Europe's most historic train stations.

💫 DAZZLING PARLIAMENT 💫
From the promenade, view of the Hungarian Parliament Building. The building of Parliament is a real gem of the Danube bank.
The Hungarian "House of the Nation" is Europe's second-largest parliament, and its architectural style is well-known. The Parliament is the city's most recognizable emblem, and it is unquestionably a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. It is one of Europe's most magnificent and ancient legislative structures and the world's third largest.
It is an example of the Gothic Revival architectural style, and one need only glance to Westminster Palace in London to see another outstanding example.
The Hungarian Parliament has a symmetrical design with a big dome, which is rare for a Gothic building.

💫 BUDA & PEST AS ONE 💫
📍Margaret Bridge viewpoint
The Danube River, which flows through the heart of Budapest, is both the city's lifeline and its geographic core, separating the hilly Buda district on the west bank from the lively Pest area on the east bank. The Szechenyi Chain Bridge, the Liberty Bridge, Buda Castle Hill, Matthias Church, the Hungarian Parliament Building, and Margaret Island are all part of Budapest's UNESCO World Heritage–listed treasures.
Margaret Bridge is Budapest's second permanent bridge and a notable example of French Neo-Baroque bridge construction in Hungary. It connects Margaret Island's southern extremity with Buda and Pest's Nagykört. It was built 25 years later and was partially funded by tolls collected from the Chain Bridge. Budapest had become one city by the time it opened in 1876, according to the design of Frenchman Ernest Gouin.

BUDA CASTLE ILLUMINATES
Without a doubt, Buda Castle is one of the most well-known images of the capital. Because it was once the residence of the Hungarian kings, the castle is also known as the Royal Palace.
Buda Castle, along with the Chain Bridge to which it is connected, is a spectacular castle and one of Budapest and Hungary's most magnificent emblems. Buda Castle now houses the Budapest History Museum, the National Széchényi Library, and the Hungarian National Gallery.
The majestic Buda Castle, perched atop Castle Hill, commands a commanding panorama of Pest and the Danube. The views from Fisherman's Bastion are remarkably similar. The palace complex, which is connected to the Chain Bridge, is particularly beautiful at night, when the bridge and the Castle are illuminated.

FORTRESS ON THE HILL 🏰
DAY VIEW OF THE FORTRESS 🏰
The extravagant confection of the Fishermen's Bastion (Halászbástya) in the Castle District was planned to offset adjacent Matthias Church, which was renovated by the same architect, Frigyes Schulek. Schulek designed an attractive promenade topped with seven cone-topped towers, symbolizing the Magyar chieftains who settled in this portion of the Carpathian Basin in the late 800s, using the remaining sections of the stronghold that stretched along this panoramic edge of Castle Hill. The bastion, which is 140 meters long and named after the medieval fishermen's guild that defended this stretch of the wall, offers spectacular views of the Danube and Pest cityscape.
During the autumn and winter, the Fishermen's Bastion is open and free to explore all day. Tickets must be purchased for specific times of the day in the spring and summer.
