Highline - Shanghai, China.
Highline is definitely one of my favorite places in Shanghai!
The food is just great and the view is definitely one of the bests you can find in Shanghai. First time I went there in 2020 with my friend Ana a few days before the Christmas and it was SO BEAUTIFUL 😍 🎄🎅
The staff is very nice and helpful. I feel line 99% of them can speak English so no language barrier…
This time I was invited to a party and it was very nice to meet my friends and all those people… it was a very fun night 😊

1933 Old Millfun - Shanghai
The 1933 Old Millfun in Shanghai is a landmark of the city. It was built in 1930’s and now is one of the symbols of Shanghai.
Originally It was built as a slaughterhouse, but now it has been converted into a shopping complex with boutiques, restaurants, dance studios, etc.
The building is made up of two parts: the front part and the back part. The front part is a five-story building, while the back part is made up of three floors.

Once upon a time in Shanghai
Shanghai is a popular tourist destination known for its historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yu Garden as well as the extensive Lujiazui skyline, many skyscrapers, and major museums including the Shanghai Museum and the China Art Museum.
During one of trips to Shanghai about 5 years ago one of the places we've been to is the Yu Garden also know as Yuyuan. It lies next to the City God Temple in Shanghai’s Old City, which was dedicated to the city’s spirits, or protectors, in the 1400s. The classic Chinese-style gardens, complete with rockeries, ponds, pavilions and towers, feature several distinct areas separated by grey tiled ridges called “dragon walls”. The area surrounding the gardens holds endless opportunities to try street food and buy souvenirs. If you can’t make it to Suzhou in Jiangsu province, which is better known for its gardens, Yuyuan will surely not failed you.
Next is Shanghai Disneyland. Many of the rides, attractions and characters have been redesigned to cater to a Chinese tourist audience. A group of Chinese zodiac gardens make up its centre – with the 12 animals represented by Disney characters – and instead of Main Street USA, there is Mickey Avenue. There’s also more live entertainment here than in other Disney theme parks. It’s a great choice if you need a break from traditional sightseeing in Shanghai
And if ever you feel tired being surrounded by tourist crowds, I highly recommended Wan Shan bird and flower market. Flowers are sold alongside pet birds, fish, chinchillas and even crickets – from the tiny to the unnervingly massive – in this market, which sits at the junction of Tibet Road and Huiji Road. You’ll also find potted plants, such as bonsai trees and succulents, on sale. Antiques and jade are also sold nearby, in case you’re good for small mammals, and your aquarium and window box are both fully stocked.
Temples can be a great way to find peace within the noise of Shanghai tourism and city life in general, whether or not you are religious. The Buddhist temple of Longhua is the oldest in the city and has a fascinating history, from its inception in 242CE to i#spooktaculartrip s use as a Japanese-run internment camp during World War II. I suggest you simply walk around the complex, or buy some incense and send up a prayer of your own.
These attractions are a great place to start if you only have a few days to experience the city’s splendour and I know you’ll find something worth visiting around every corner in the largest city in China.

Shanghai's Oriental Pearl
We have the boat quay or Clarke quay in Singapore, which is a beautiful night spot facing the Singapore River. However, whenever I am back in Shanghai, I would always head over to the Oriental Pearl. Why? Because it is so pretty with all the night lights and it stands tall facing the huang pu river, making it outstanding and majestic.
The Oriental Pearl is also a TV station now but there are many things to do there. At the top of it, there is revolving restaurant showcasing amazing views of shanghai's cityscape. It is also an observation deck for tourists to go up and take a look. If you don't know already, the building is has ball like looking structure which resemble pearls, hence the name Oriental Pearl Tower.
There is also a light show which is free happening at the Oriental Pearl area. Be sure to catch it and be mesmerized.

The Famous Shanghai Bund
The bund is Shanghai is a must go attraction in Shanghai. Year after year, the bund is always filled with locals and tourists visiting it. The bund is a historical site in Shanghai and in the past, it used to house buildings of influence for the rich and famous, as well as many financial institutions. In Chinese, the bund is called 外滩(pronounced as Wai tan) and it is beautiful in many ways with its great architectural details. Be it day or Night, the bund still looks magnificent and well kept, as it faces the huang pu river, making it a great photo spot as well. Do visit the bund and admire its beautiful facets.

Shanghai Disneyland
#meetshanghai
Visited the park in 2019, pre-Covid and had a blast.
The queues weren't too bad, as we found out we picked quite a good day for our visit and we were able to enjoy almost all of the attractions we were interested in. Even on a not so busy day, some of the attractions were a bit busy and we were thinking that a fast pass would have been a good idea. but then again, the concept of fast passes is a bit of a wallet burning idea.
TRON ride is a unique experience that was something else and we really enjoyed Star Wars hall - the 2 meters high Lord Vader was stealing the show. The Pirates of the Caribbean are also a must, as the visual effects are incredible!
My partner and I have been to a few amusement parks and this was one of the better ones - however, you should come prepared, as the prices inside are quite high and English translations are not present everywhere.

Mandarin Oriental Shanghai - Club lounge
#meetshanghai
Throwback to 2019 before Covid hits
We checked-in at the lounge, having been offered refreshments while we waited, and were told that one of our two rooms had been upgraded to a corner suite. It was huge! Essentially, it was like a small apartment and the views across the river and of the Pearl Tower were stunning. The second room was also wonderful, with a fabulous view and a great circular bath! Both rooms were well- appointed and in excellent condition. I can't fault them.
The time allocations for food and drink in the lounge are very good - in that brunch was served until 1pm, followed shortly by afternoon tea - alcohol was available at this time too. The lounge was large with a clear designation of dining tables and then a lounge area with sofas and coffee tables. Again, the lounge staff were outstanding in their service and friendly approach.

Mandarin Oriental Shanghai - Room
#meetshanghai
Throwback to 2019 before Covid hits
Shanghai Mandarin Oriental has a large scale with 362 guest rooms and suites. The basic room type is also 15 pings, which is very good. This time, I stayed in the Executive Mandarin River View Room.
The room is about 18 pings, which is super spacious and comfortable the view of the room facing the Huangpu River and the Oriental Pearl Tower is super beautiful.
There is a large round bathtub for soaking and watching TV. The biggest advantage of the executive room is that you can enjoy the executive lounge. Eat simple lunch, afternoon tea, cocktail dinner and breakfast in the executive lounge.

Old Shanghai's Yu Garden
Shanghai may be a fast paced city in China but let's not forget that there is also beauty in the old and I am so glad that Shanghai has preserved and maintained it's ancient parts well.
A popular attraction in Shanghai that showcases its old Chinese architecture and pavilions well is the Yu Garden. The place is like an old city of Shanghai and it is located at 279 Yu Yuan Lao Jie. I was surprised to see lots of tourists and locals appreciating the older side of Shanghai and the atmosphere was amazing. There were kois swimming in the pond, beautiful water fountains with the ancient buildings behind and arch bridges for people to walk on. There are also old tea house along the way. Just so much to soak in, with a place so rich in history and culture. Apparently, yu garden is built during the Ming dynasty but the place looks as good as new. Yu Garden is definitely a place worth visiting when you're in Shanghai!

Fairmont Peace Hotel - Lobby
#meetshanghai
The historical status of the Peace Hotel is unquestionable.
When you come to Shanghai, you will choose the Fairmont Peace Hotel. Of course, what you want is the feeling of dignity. Just entering the lobby on the first floor, the momentum is shocking, polished to the reflective marble floor, coupled with the light-transmitting octagonal skylight.
With a museum-like aura, one can imagine that those who were able to enter and leave this place were absolutely honorable and expensive! In addition to the visual shock, of course it also has a tender side. The faint aroma in the air is to provide guests with olfactory comfort, which is now more and more high-end hotels attach great importance to it.

Qibao Old-Town in Shanghai
Qibao Old-Town is a small old town in the suburbs of Shanghai. It used to be a small village and nowadays it's one of the old towns that are quite close to Shanghai's downtown. So it's perfect for a weekend trip, you can spend about 2 to 4 hours to walk the old lanes, try local snacks or take a boat ride.
📍 Chinese name for navigation: 上海七宝古城
🚗 It's a 40-60 minutes ride from downtown. Taxi seems to be a little faster than public transport.

Great Pizza on Shanghai's Julu Road
Mammamia is a Italian restaurant and bistro on Julu Road in downtown Shanghai. It's great for dinner or lunch. I always take their pizza, but the other dishes also seem to be good. 🍕 Their Italian style coffee is also great.

Bellagio Shanghai
#meetshanghai
Bellagio is the second Bellagio brand hotel in the world after Las Vegas in the United States! Settled on the banks of the Suzhou River in Shanghai, experience it when it opens in 2018.
As soon as you enter the hotel and pass the lobby, you can clearly feel the luxurious atmosphere. The crystal chandeliers from the Czech Republic, marble materials, glass, and metals imported from Italy are designed exactly like the layout of a luxury brand store.
All objects are presented with high quality, from lamps, carpets, sofas all exude a sense of luxury. The most exaggerated thing is that many walls in the hotel are actually wrapped in leather! Add studs to close the edges. It doesn't feel like a hotel, but like a Hermès flagship store.
The gym and swimming pool on the third floor are too exaggerated, and it’s really enjoyable to be able to enjoy the view of the Suzhou River directly! The rooms start from 60 square meters, so the room is spacious and comfortable. The interior design combines modern and classic, and the bathroom accessories are organic products from Australia.

Blue Bottle Coffee is a nice coffee in Jing'An district in Shanghai, just a little South of Shanghai train station. It's in an old building with high ceilings.
The coffee is very fresh and tasty with high quality beans. They have espresso based coffee and also hand brew dripping coffee. The Western snacks are also delicious, especially the avocado bread. For one person, expect 50-70 Yuan for a coffee and a simple snack. ☕ 🥪

Chili’s Pudong

Chili’s restaurant is one of my favourite places to check out along the river front. Underneath the Oriental Pearl, you’ll find a series of restaurants along the river front and further inland. Chili’s has the option of indoor and outdoor seating, the staff are great and the food portions are perfect. Prices vary for the food and drinks here but it’s worth the cost and will usually fill you for the day.

Cozy Café on Shanghai's Wukang Road
Shanghai is China's coffee metropolis and the density of Cafés is huge. Plusone Café on Wukang Road is one of my favorites in Downtown Shanghai.
📍 Chinese name and detailed address:

I can especially recommend the latte, but also cappuccino and Americano are tasty. They also offer environment friendly coffee cups that you can take home and bring the next time.

Industrial Creative Space in Shanghai
1933 transformed an old power station and factory area into a creative hub hosting restaurants, creative retail, design companies, galleries and design and exhibition spaces. It's a great place for a weekend trip.
Four now heritage-listed buildings offer great restaurants and shops. You can spend a whole afternoon there and also shoot some nice pictures.
📍Location and how to get there?
Hailun Road on subway line 4 and 10 is the closest metro stop (海伦路), from there it's just a 5-10 minutes walk. If you come by taxi, just enter 1933 in your app and you'll find it.

Typical Shanghai Day!
#meetshanghai
Shanghai, on China’s central coast, is the country's biggest city and a global financial hub. Its heart is the Bund, a famed waterfront promenade lined with colonial-era buildings. Across the Huangpu River rises the Pudong district’s futuristic skyline, including 632m Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, with distinctive pink spheres. Sprawling Yu Garden has traditional pavilions, towers and ponds.
Middle Eastern Delights
1001 Nights is one of the best places to visit for your Mediterranean fix. Lamb is front and center at this restaurant and for Shanghai that is pretty unusual. The vibe is almost other worldly with amazing decor and beautiful belly dances, it is so easy to forget you are in Shanghai.
The menu is great for sharing and has a wide range of delicious decious my favorite being the hummus and lamb stew.

Day and Night in Shanghai
It was a long layover but short for a vacation. Anyway, I decided to go for a quick walk around to experience a day and a night in Shanghai.
I had to make the most of my time so I went straight to the heart of the City, Waitan or otherwise known as Bund. The Bund or Waitan is a raised promenade by the waterfront running parallel Huangpo River in area in central Shanghai.
The area has some of Shanghai's best architectural treasures, which includes grand, western style buildings built in the late 19th and early 20th century. The buildings feature architectural styles from Neoclassical to Beaux-Arts to Gothic to Baroque forming the popular Shanghai Skyline which glows brighter and more colorful at night.

Hand Made Xiao Long Baos
In Singapore, the only Xiao long bao brand that we are all familiar with is perhaps Ding Tai Feng, since we see the Chinese restaurant franchise everywhere we go. It is, however, pricey since it is at a restaurant standard. In Shanghai, there are many places that sells authentic Xiao long baos at a fraction of the price. Those little dumplings are hand made with juicy meat and enclosed with some soup. Every mouthful of those Xiao long baos will explode in your mouth with the soup juice. One famous Xiao bao shop that makes reputable Xiao long baos would be jia jia tung bao. They have several outlets in Shanghai and sells noodles, Jian baos and other food items as well. Do not miss out on their Xiao long baos because it's better than what we can get here.

Fancy dinner for a special occasion
My husband and I don't go this fantasy but we wanted to do something special for a special occasion. So we booked a night in Shangri-la Shanghai and enjoyed dinner at Jade on 36 that is in the same building.
The food was phenomenal and the service from the staff made the occasion feel even more special. By no means was it cheap but it was an event I will never forget.

Museum of Hangovers

The Museum of Hangovers is a pop up museum that will cost 99RMB to enter.
Its a small museum on the 3rd floor inside one of the Rockbund buildings. Expect to spend around 1 hour only inside, a drink is offered on entry at the ‘club’ of red wine or mulled wine (no other choices unfortunately).
The rooms are creative and you can have fun inside, it’s also incredibly insightful on alcohol in general. The museum is also built through peoples stories and you will have chance to share yours at the end.

In 1998 the buildings were renovated after many years of abandonment. Now these beautiful buildings are used as a complex of shops, restaurants, studios, offices etc.

Shanghai DIY!
#meetshanghai
❤Sharing our Shanghai trip (level 1 😊) last 2019. Fall foliage ung season ng vacation namin. Malamig, 2-14 degrees nagrerange ung temperature during our stay, pa Christmas na din kasi.
👉Mura sya kasi konti lang ung puma pansin sa Shanghai plus need pang kumuha ng visa. But ung visa processing ng China, mas madali unlike sa pagkuha ng visa for Japan. 😉
👉Maganda sa Shanghai. Medyo Japan feels ung lugar. May European influence din sila so marami silang spots na parang nasa Europe ka. You can go to The Bund, Xintiandi, and French Concession if bet mo ung ganung feels.
👉Sa accommodation, malapit ung stay namin sa The Bund para accessible anytime ung spot na un. 😉
👉For the food, kung mahilig ka sa Xiao long bao, magsasawa ka dito hehe. Yang's dumpling ung pinakasikat nilang food sa city. Kung gusto mo magfoodtrip, Punta kayo sa Huanghe Road, Yu Yuan Old Street and Xintiandi (mura and masarap)
👉For the tours, nag DIY kami. Since hassle free ang transport ang mostly free or mura Lang ang entrance fee ng mga tourist spots, DIY na lang. ♥️You can check our detailed itinerary below for your reference
Day 1
Destinations: The Bund, Nanjing Road, 2nd largest Starbucks Reserve
TIP:
- Mas okay magwithdraw ng pera sa airport kesa sa money changer dahil mababa and rates dun. Just make sure na before going to Shanghai, napaopen nyo na ung atm card nyo for international use.
- Sa airport kami bumili ng Sim Para makapag Google maps na agad agad hehe.
- We availed the 3-day subway pass kasi mas sulit. 45 yuan 'to so around P325.
Day 2
Destination: Disneyland all day (Para sulit 😁)
TIP:
- After getting your visa, magbook na kayo ng Disneyland ticket.Aside na mas mura ung price dito, no need na pumila. Just present your voucher and passport at the entrance gate then bibigyan na nila kayo ng pass.
- Mas okay pumunta ng Disneyland on a weekday kasi mas madaming visitors kapag weeken
Day 3
Destination: Hangzhou West Lake, Leifeng Pagoda
TIP:
- Agahan nyo pumunta sa train. Medyo mahaba ang pila nung bumili kami ng tickets.
- Sobrang lawak ng lake, better kung magshuttle kayo going to Leifeng Pagoda.
DAY 4
Destinations: West Nanjing Road, Jing'an Temple, Yuyuan Old Street, Pearl Tower and The Bund ulit then airport 😭
TIP:
- Nagavail kami ng 1 day subway pass since tapos na ung 3 day namin. Mas mura to lalo na marami kaming need puntahan pa.
✅Other tips
- Google maps and translate is your best friend. Hindi masyadong nagsasalita ng English ang mga locals dun.
- Magdownload ng Didi app in case gabihin sa daan or pagod na maglakad.
- And always remember to respect the place and their culture. Note that as a tourist, you are also representing your Country so dapat bait bait ka dun besh. Ipakita natin na mababait ang mga Pinoy. ❤️😁
Happy travel!

Shanghai, China Solo Travel Guide:
After getting my Chinese Visa I was not actually ready with my Itinerary and I was not sure what to do and where to go in Shanghai. At first I decided to just spend my vacation relaxing and go for two tourist attractions a day. However, on my first day, I was impressed and overwhelmed on the city’s architecture (not the usual Chinese view we are expecting). Without the road signs and Temples, you’ll feel like you’re also strolling in Europe. As my excitement went overflowing the first day, I decided to change my itinerary for three days. The most striking skyscrapers for me are the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center (Tallest building in China and 2nd tallest building in the world - next to Burj Khalifa of Dubai).
Sharing to you my detailed Itinerary in Shanghai, China.
Day 01🇨🇳✈️❤️ I arrived at Pudong International Airport at 12:15AM. I met my driver on the waiting area of the Arrival hall. He was holding a Klook sign with my name.
📍The Bund / The Bund Promenade🚶♂️
📍Oriental Pearl Tower 🚊🚶♂️
📍Shanghai World Financial Center🚶♂️
📍Yu Garden 🚊🚶♂️
📍People Square🚊🚶♂️
Day 02🇨🇳✈️❤️
📍Longhua Temple🚊🚶♂️
📍Jade Buddha Temple🚊🚶♂️
📍Shanghai Museum🚊🚶♂️
📍Urban Planning Exhibition Center🚊
Day 03🇨🇳✈️❤️
📍The French Concession🚊🚶♂️
Day 04🇨🇳✈️❤️
📍1AM flight back to Manila✈️
Tips:
📍A sim card with data will help you a lot when finding your destination (via Google Map). I bought mine before my travel to Shanghai @ Pinoy Traveler's Unlimited Data SIM Card .
📍If your arrival time in Shanghai is at midnight, buy an airport transfer in Klook. Taxi fare from Airport to Downtown is around Php 1,500 (estimated). Price in Klook is around Php 1,700 but it is much safer than riding a taxi.
Note:
📍This Itinerary is just only a guide and the rates may still change. I would advise for you to do some more research before going on a trip like this.😊

Museum of Art Pudong is a great art museum to visit with 4 floors filled with art work, some linked to Tate Modern. Exhibits generally stay here for 6 months and there will usually be 3 exhibits spread across the floors. The rooftop area hosts a restaurant and a view of the Bund worth checking out. Weekend and Holiday tickets are 200RMB and it’s an open dated ticket.
