The Head of Dragon is here 🐲 | Stone Dragon Hill
#tripxplorproject
Finally, I hiked Stone Dragon Hill. It wasn't a difficult hike; it took around 30 minutes to reach the top. At the summit, you'll find the iconic rock formation depicted in the first picture. There, I saw the Dragon's Head Rock, a stunning geological marvel evoking myth and reality. Upon reaching the summit, I was greeted by an awe-inspiring panorama that stretched across Penang City. The view was particularly enchanting as the sunset painted the sky with vibrant hues. It served as a mesmerizing escape, captivating me with its incredible scenery. On my way back home, I stumbled upon a durian farm managed by an elderly man. There, I indulged in the best durian I've ever tasted in Malaysia, and it happened to be the cheapest one I've found :D. Amidst the orchards, amidst breathtaking vistas, I found solace and a profound connection to nature. It was then that I realized I had discovered a slice of paradise in Penang.

Hi My friends
I embarked on a journey through Berapit, a collection of charming taman nestled amidst the winding roads of Penang. Starting from Bukit Mertajam, my expedition led me towards Berapit Market Hill, driven by anticipation to uncover hidden gems. Trekking from Taman Pearl, I embraced the natural beauty and cultural richness along the trail. Ascending Bukit Mertajam hill, I found serenity in the verdant surroundings, a welcome escape from urban life.
At the summit, Chanxiu Jingshe, a majestic Thai Buddhist monastery with a striking pagoda, greeted me. From this vantage point, I marveled at panoramic views of Bukit Mertajam and Penang Island, with landmarks like KOMTAR and George Town adorning the horizon. Exploring the temple grounds, I found solace in the tranquil terrace adorned with ornate statues, offering moments of reflection amidst nature's splendor. Despite the ascent's challenges, the landscape's beauty and spiritual solace made the journey profoundly rewarding. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow, I reflected on the privilege of witnessing such majesty. Each step retracing my path carried cherished memories of Berapit—a testament to its tranquility, serenity, and cultural significance.

🇰🇷 A Walk along Seoul City Wall
If you enjoy city walking like me, you should not miss Seoul City Wall Trail when you're in Seoul. The Fortress Wall of Seoul, also known as Hanyangdoseong, was built in 14th century during the Joseon period to safeguard the boundaries of the capital city. Hanyangdoseong has four major and four small gates which are important historical landmarks in Korea.
I started my walk from Dongdaemun subway station exit 1, from which I could see the Heunginjimun Gate on the opposite side of the road. Then it was a steep hike from Heunginjimun Park along the city wall, passing by Ihwa Mural Village before reaching Naksan Park. Naksan Park offers panoramic views of downtown Seoul especially during sunset and evening. From Naksan Park, the walk came to an end with a steep descent via the trail towards Hyehwamun Gate near to Hansung University Station.

Yubeng | Hiker’s Paradise
If you are looking for a little off road experience and breathtaking views, visit Yubeng in Yunnan.
I combined my trip to Yubeng with a visit to Shangrila as both are not too far from each other.
There are only 2 ways you can access this small village nestled between mountains ranges. You hike in for 4-6 hours or take an off road Jeep for 20-30mins that takes you through winding paths through the mountains - can be tricky if you are the car sick type.
I went in winter - can be quite cold if you are planning to hike and some of the hikes can be quite tough. You need ice crampons. Some of the easier routes are very well marked and harder ones are not.
I would go again in spring/summer as I was told the views are completely different and the hiking trails are a little easier. You can also see fields of wildflowers blooming in Spring.

Easy hike in DB
Discovery Bay is not only a quiet and sleepy community. It also has great hiking trails, some of which aren't difficult and are paved.
A good suggestion is to walk up to the reservoir from the plaza. It's along sidewalks the whole way so it isn't difficult or strenuous. Along the way, you'll find greenery and relaxing waterways. It also isn't too busy so you can walk in relative peace.
Once at the reservoir, you can rest up before heading back down. You'll also see HK's famous skyline from afar. All in all a good walk!

Dragon’s Back Trail
#wheretogo
The Dragon’s Back Hike is one of the most popular trails in Hong Kong due to its impressive coastal views seen from the ridge-line but also because it is one of the less intense routes in the region. Dragon’s Back Trail gives hikers outstanding, scenic views without too much incline and climbing. The trail is suitable for families, amateur hikers and all tourists looking for an adventure.
Somehow it has become the most popular easy hiking trail in Hong Kong. Nevertheless, it was beautiful but crowded.

Breathtaking view of Taipei 101
Among the many ways to admire the magnificent Taipei 101, viewing it from afar would be my personal favorite. It is popular amongst tourists, be it visiting in the morning or sunset, the trail is always packed with tourists and locals. We chose the shortest route up, which took about 20minutes, but boy the steps were steep! There are many viewpoints, but if you are feeling adventurous, you can climb up one of the huge rocks to watch the sun fall. There is an Arabica across the street from the entrance of the trail, perfect to cool down after the sweaty hike.
How to get there:
MRT Xiangshan (Red line) - follow the pedestrain and walk along the perimeter of Xiang Shan Park, then on the uphill turn right when you see a condo. Upon turning right, you’ll see a temple then continue walking in the alley. You will see the entrance on your left after a short walk.
PS: bring along mosquito repellent as the mosquitoes there are relentless.

Puffin Spotting At Dyrholary
Look at the cute puffins we spotted at Dyrhólaey! This enchanting promontory, perched on Iceland's southern coast, offers a breathtaking panorama of nature's grandeur. Dyrhólaey is a geological marvel, featuring colossal sea cliffs, sculpted by the relentless North Atlantic waves, and a black sand beach below.
But our day was all about the puffins – those endearing seabirds with their vibrant orange beaks and striking black-and-white plumage. Nestled in the cliffs, they waddled and soared, adding a burst of color to the rugged landscape. With the salty breeze in the air and the Atlantic Ocean stretching endlessly before us, Dyrhólaey was a slice of Icelandic paradise.

The Green Corridor is a newly created path by the Singapore government which opened less than 5 years ago and this was used to be the old rail way that runs from Malaysia and into Singapore.
The hike brings you from the centre of Singapore up towards Bukit timah area, you will see loads of ppl cycling, jogging or basically just strolling in nature.
At king alber park area, you will see an old train station that is still there, believe this is still kept as a heritage site. To access this railway corridor, you can enter either near the bouna vista mrt or the king Albert Park blue line.
Stunning views of Taipei, elephant mountain.
Elephant mountain hiking trail.
Taipei is a stunning metropolis and some of the best views of the sprawling city can be found up the Elephant mountain, a moderately steep hiking trail. The mountain takes it’s name from the shape of the mountain and has inspired lots of art and culture in the local area.
It is very close to the Xiangshan metro stop and it’s on many bus routes, if you take an uber you can put in the Arabica coffee shop as your drop off point as that is at the bottom of the trail.
There are toilets at the bottom of the trail that are free to use and there are plenty of places along the way to sit and take a breath, this is ideal as the trail is steep in parts and made up for big steps.
The points at the top offer a stunning view of the city, especially at sunset and sunrise but get there early as the viewing points can get very busy with tourists and professional photographers.
It’s an easy hike and can be done within an hour, it’s good to do it early morning to avoid the crowds and get a hike in before it gets too hot!

Udon Shop Overlooking Senbon Torii - Nishimura-tei
During our hike at Fushimi Inari Taisha, we had the opportunity to visit Nishimura-tei, the udon shop located at one of the rest area in Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto, and we must say it was a delightful experience. The shop is conveniently situated near the entrance of the shrine, making it a great spot to refuel after exploring the beautiful surroundings. We were lucky to be seated in the tatami room near the window, overlooking the scenic view of Senbon Torii or the 1000 Torii gate.
We had kake udon, amazake, and of course inari sushi, since we're at Fushimi Inari Shrine. Tired and famished from the hike since morning, we gobbled up our food right away. All were delicious!

Trek Bali's most iconic volcano!
#balitrip #bali #hike #trek #volcano #mountain #batur
Mount Batur is a UNESCO heritage site and an active volcano. It’s one of the most popular sights in Bali and the most popular hike in Bali because it's a beginner-friendly climb, and you get to see amazing views (in good weather). Its elevation is 1717 meters. If you're relatively fit you can reach the summit within 2 hours.
It's worth it if you're looking for is some time out in nature, some exercise and an epic sunrise. However the mountain can get crowded, with up to 600 hikers a day. Everyone needs to go with a guide so the most popular way to trek this is to book a tour, so you’ll most likely be in a group along with many other groups of people, all trekking up at the same time.
If you’re doing the sunrise hike, you’ll have a very early morning start. Hotel pick-ups can be anywhere between midnight to 2am depending on where you are staying. If you are in Ubud, it's about an hour ride (especially in the middle of the night when there is very little traffic). You’ll then stop for some coffee and simple brekkie and then make your way with your group to the base of the mountain. Then you hike most of your way up in the dark with flashlights. It’s a volcanic mountain so the ground is black sand/dust and rocks, not lush greenery. Your shoes will get DIRTY.
Ideally you should dress warm as it gets chilly at the summit before sunrise. It is a great experience, hiking up in the dark and then seeing the beautiful sunrise with stunning views. Highly recommend!
Shou Shan Hiking Trial
The one and only hiking spot that is quite challenging that we managed to find in Kao Hsiung. We took it as a warmup for our Yang Ming Shan hike in the next few days when we go to Taipei. First hand experience of being attacked by a monkey because of the food we brought along. Intended to have a feel of eating in the mountains but unable to. Then the locals advise we finished the food before climbing. WARNING!: DO NOT BRING FOOD UP GU SHAN! Last but not least, weather was good to us till we reached the summit. There are free tea provided at the summit pavilion too. Then it started to pour on and off and stopped when we reached the foot.

Summer vibe in Hong Kong: Shek O beach and Village
Hang out at the Beach
The Shek O beach is quite spacious and allows you to chill out and listen to the rhythm of the ocean. Moreover, you can rent a beach umbrella and have your private zone. You can also buy picnic mats, snacks, and meals from nearby restaurants and tuck shops. Everything you’d need for a trip is available at any Shek O stores behind the beach, so explore and find what you need.
Explore Shek O Village
Shek O village is a beautiful area with houses, stores and a chill vibe. A stroll around the place makes you forget that this beach is merely an hour away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.
No matter where you live in Hong Kong, it is quite easy to get to this beach. You can Google the different ways to get there, but my favourite is below:
Take the MTR to Shau Kei Wan Station
Go to Exit A2, which is the Po Man Street Exit
Take a left and go into the minibus terminal located just next to Shau Kei Wan Exit A2
Take the Red Minibus to Shek O
Head on straight to the last stop at Shek O
