Bagamoyo: where the past and future dances
📍: Bagamoyo
Venturing into Tanzania, let's explore Bagamoyo, a town whose name translates to "Lay down your heart" in Kiswahili…
Learning about its role as the final stop for slaves before their journey to Zanzibar and beyond during the East African slave trade evoked strong emotions in me. Did I not cry like a baby while walking through to town?! Omg
Established in the 8th century by people of Persian descent, Bagamoyo evolved into a bustling port and trading port - welcoming diverse communities including Arabs, Indians and Chinese before being colonised by Germany in the 18th century.
The Kaole Ruins house a small museum displaying artefacts of Chinese origin - shedding light on ancient commercial ties. The site also features a magic well and several tombs.
Frame 5: One oldest mosques in Tanzania and East Africa - believed to date back to the 13th century.
Frame 6: Sharifa's Tomb - ssociated with a girl believed to possess healing abilities and the gift of dream interpretation.
Frame 7: The old Boma constructed by the Germans in the 18th century
For history enthusiasts, a day trip from Dar es Salaam to Bagamoyo is highly recommended.
Getting There :
To drive from Dar es Salaam to Bagamoyo, you can take the Bagamoyo Road, which is approximately a 1-2 hour drive depending on traffic and road conditions. Just head north from Dar es Salaam on the Bagamoyo Road until you reach your destination. Make sure to check current road conditions and plan your trip accordingly.

Namibia - A Truly Unique Adventure
Looking to visit one of the most unique places in the world? If yes, Namibia should be on top of your list.
From the ancient dunes of the Namib Desert to the cultural tapestry woven by its various tribes, Namibia is an absolute dream for those with an adventurous spirit.
To get a real flavor of what this unique country has to offer, rent a 4x4 truck with a roof tent and set off to a drive of a lifetime.
Places to visit:
- Windhoek- capital of Namibia
- See the amazing Quiver trees at the Quiver tree forest
- Drive through the Tropic of Capricorn… there are two points!
- Take a hike in the Grand Canyon of Namibia - River Fish Canyon.
- Get lost under the sand of the fascinating ghost town of Kolmanskop
- Hike the incredible dunes in Sossusvlei and see the 900 year old trees in Deadvlei, an amazing clay pan
- Visit the charming town of Luderitz
- Make a quick stop for gas and apple pie in Solitaire
- Take a stroll around Swakopmund and see flamingos and seals on Wolvis Bay
- Sleep under a bed of stars in Spitzkoppe- The night sky is your 1 million star hotel!
- Go on a self drive game/ safari in Etosha. We saw giraffes, buffaloes, dear, different species of birds, lots of zebras. They are everywhere! Didn’t spot any lions but we saw these in another safari we did in Tanzania.
Africa to me, is the most beautiful continent on earth!
💰How much does it cost to rent a house on wheels?
We went to Namibia for 15 days but rented the vehicle for 12 days.
If you have time and money to stay longer, I’d suggest staying at least three weeks so you can take your time driving, resting and taking in the scenery.
Namibia is a big a country and you’ll spend a lot of time behind the wheel because there’s a lot to see.
The cost for renting a 4x4 with a roof tent was $1,200 including full insurance, with a company called Britz.
There are other companies and they have different prices depending on the type of vehicle, tent and extras. We went for the budget friendly, basic vehicle - Not for the instagram friendly; Jeep with solar panel for a ridiculous price. At the end of the day, you are still sleeping in a tent! 😂
The price included:
• Sleeping bags, pillows and blankets for two.
• Kitchenware - plates, glasses, kettle, pots & pans.
• Small gas cylinder
• Portable stove
• Picnic chairs and table
• Freezer
Gas cost: 600 and we drove 4,000 km.
Campsites cost: $210 (5 campsites)
The days we didn’t have the car, we slept at Urban Camp in Windhoek, that was an additional $120.
We would have loved spending more time in Namibia but our budget didn’t allow. Will definitely go back to explore more of this beautiful gem in the world.
This year, my wish is to travel around China and Iran 🤞

Gorillas in the Wild - A unique Experience.
🦍Is seeing Gorillas in the Wild a must do experience for you?
Tracking mountain gorillas is one of the most unique wildlife experiences in the world.
Sure, it is not cheap but the experience is priceless!💚
💰But how expensive it really is? Expensive!!🤑
We left this experience for the end of our African trip because we knew the rest of our budget would all be spent on the Gorilla & Chimpazee trekking (that’s for another post).
💵The cost of gorilla trekking differs from country to country. It is important to note that the price of gorilla permits is just a fraction of the overall cost of gorilla trekking. You still have to consider transportation, accommodation, food, Visas, tips for the guides, flights etc.
🗺There are only 3 places in the world where you can see Mountain Gorillas and the park entrance fee cost vary depending on the country.
We chose Bwindi impenetrable forest in Uganda because it’s safe and more affordable than its neighbour, Rwanda.
This park permit is valid for one day only and can only be booked through your tour operator.
Part of the amount you pay for your gorilla trekking permit is used in the conservation and research process, another part is used to develop and educate the communities around the protected gorilla conservation areas and to develop the infrastructure.
🇨🇩Congo$450
🇷🇼Rwanda $1500
🇺🇬Uganda $700
You can only do this trek with a private tour. However, you’ll be joined by other people when you arrive at the park - from other private tours. Our group had 6 people in total and we were only 2 groups that day.
Is that very expensive hour with the Gorillas worth it? To us, a million YES!!
Did you know that there are only around 1,000 Gorillas left in the world?
Poaching, habitat destruction and diseases threaten the life of these magnificent creatures.
How often do gorillas give birth?
Females have a gestation period of 8.5 months and nurture their young for several years. Generally, females give birth to one baby every four to six years. This slow population growth makes it harder for gorillas to recover from any population decline.
Travel responsibly.
My #2024wish is to hike in the Karakoram mountain area in Pakistan.

The highest bungee jump in the world!
If you’re driving along the garden route, you will inevitably cross the Bloukrans bridge! But before you do, make sure you make a pit stop to check out this magnificent piece of construction from afar. There’s a little side stop where you can look at the bridge and even have lunch with a view of people bungee jumping off the bridge! Whilst we chose not to bungee jump, it certainly was a thrill watching people jump from a world record height of 216m! The green valley below and the surrounding views make for a stunning scenery, and is definitely a hotspot for photographers! #historicallandmarks #africa #Southafrica #Bloukransbridge #Bungeejumping #Adventure #gardenroute #familytrip

A Journey into Africa's Untamed Beauty
2023- Amidst the Serengeti's vast expanse, guided by Maasai tracker Kito, witnessed nature's symphony. Wildebeests and zebras danced, elephants graced watering holes, and lions lounged beneath acacia trees. A night around the campfire under the African stars unfolded stories, and dawn brought a magical balloon-filled sunrise. A rare cheetah sighting marked the peak, revealing that the Serengeti's true allure lay not just in its sights, but in the profound connection with Africa's untamed beauty.

Safari in Rwanda 🇷🇼
The safari I did in Rwanda was an incredible experience.
Completely immersed in the natural environment, we slept in small houses within the park and during the day we traveled the dirt roads in our 4x4 with our great guide.
We were lucky enough to see a large number of animals, even some that are rather rare to observe.
We also took a night excursion during which we were able to see lions hunting and other animals, each more impressive than the last.
It’s a completely exotic adventure that creates incredible memories.

Ivory Tree Game Lodge will keep you full through out the entire day you are with them. From check-in(Lunch) to after the game drive(Dinner) and the breakfast the next day are all covered. The food provided by the hotel isn't some cheep low quality food, but instead the 1st day lunch and dinner is more towards a find dining culinary experience where you have a list of selection of main course and appetizers to choose from. The resort stay, food and game drive for a price of $1000 is quite reasonable especially with the experience.

The Safari Drive At Pilanesberg National Park
#safari #safaripark #safariworld #southafrica #africa #pilanesburg #animal #wildlife #wildlifesafari #adventure #mustvisit #amazing
Nothing is complete without visit one of the safaris in south africa. And what will make it perfect is the game drive out into the national park. You can either drive your own vehicle or seat one of this HUGE elevated jeeps and drive around the entire safari where pilanesberg is the 2nd most visited national park in africa after kurger national park.
In these drives, more often you have to have some luck to see the animals and if your luck is pretty good you will meet the big 5s, elephants, lion, giraffe, rhino and and buffalo. For me we only manage to see 3 of the Big 5 and came up really close with the rhinos with the amazing sunset at the back.
This is one experience everyone will dream off, the experience is somewhat watching national geographic but with you inside. So thrilling and exciting. just WOW!

Safari stay is something that everyone would want to try at least one in their life! Head to africa and one of the many national park to have this experience. For me was staying in Ivory Tree Game Lodge located at Kgabo Drive, Bagatla Gate, Pilanesberg National Park, 0316, South Africa. This Safari stay is located on the north of PIlanesburg and although it does not have an overview of the national park, but this stay is more than perfect. Great airconditioned room overlooking the forest, great buggy service and guides even in the resort itself.
If you see the cost, it will be super expensive, as the resort comes with 2 game drives and a full breakfast - dinner course on inclusive. This is one experience i will never forget!
Stay tune to my other post about the game drive in Pilanesberg National Park!

Window of the World 🌎
Who would thought you could visit the world in one day and then some 🤭. From the Statue of Liberty in the USA to Japan, India and Africa plus many more not featured here. This place is extremely huge they even have electric carts you can rent. Window of the world gives you a nice replica of all the famous landmarks. There are various performances at each country, and activities that you can participate in. Getting there is quite easy and convenient, the metro is right outside the entrance about 5 minutes or so walk. The entrance fee was 289 yuan if I remember correctly, once inside you can buy a 'passport' for 45 yuan and for each country visited you get a stamp 😆.

Labranda Les Dunes Dor - Excellent Location
Labranda Les Dunes Doe on Agadir is located in the perfect spot, the marina, shops, bars as well as a casino are all within walking distance.
The hotel offers guests access to their own private beach area where you can be guaranteed to have a sun bed available. There is also an on-site shisha night club which opens in the evenings and has live music which you can enjoy. The hotel activities team called Animation made my stay very pleasant as they gave me suggestions of what I can do outside of the hotel activity wise and helped me book the activities. If you're travelling with kids then this hotel is perfect as it has a children's play room and there are fun activities for children carried out by the animation team throughout the day such as dance lessons, swimming pool games, musical chairs.
The rooms were fairly basic, on my first night I noticed alot of ants in my room next to the balcony door, after complaining to the staff I was quickly moved to another room where there were no further issues through out my 7 day holiday. The staff were helpful and resolved any issues I had.

Tribes in the Mango National Park are real.
( I TOOK GREAT CARE IN EXAMINING ALL PICTURES SO THAT THEY DO NO REVEAL ANY NUDITY AND DO NOT VIOLATE COMMUNITY RULES)
There are many tribes that share the land along the Omo River in the southern most parts of Ethiopia. These tribes have been there for thousands of years and they are truly fascinating, warm and very resilient people. If you’re traveling to either northern Kenya or in the southern part of Ethiopia I suggest you ask your guide to help you arrange a visit to one or more of these Tribal Community’s.
I was not allowed to post any pictures showing any private parts so the ones I have are very limited because most of the tribes do not wear much clothing like we do in the west, the temperatures can exceed 40°C and clothing is just not an option. The children were so grateful just for a mouth full of water from a plastic bottle. The women were crafts-makers and their jewelry was remarkable with all natural bead work that was dyed bright colors from natural ingredients. Their clothing was all handmade with striking colors and style. All the men from the tribes are gone to either hunt or work in the fields. The women are left with the children to raise as that is their customs.

#1 Waterfall to visit in Ghana
Boti Falls is a twin waterfall located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The two waterfalls are often referred to as female and male.
I visited after a big rainstorm so it looked more like one giant waterfall. I wasn’t able to go in the water but it was still beautiful to look at and feel it’s power from afar.
The ride from Accra to Boti Falls is beautiful and green. It was a wonderful road trip and highly recommend it!

Ghana Staycation
30 minutes north of a Accra is the Aburi region. I recommend staying here to get away from the hustle and bustle for a weekend. If you don’t want to pay for a room, use the pool all day for $15USD or 150 Ghana Cedis.
The restaurant is also amazing and affordable. The lobster I have below was about $19 USD for 5-6 pieces.
Social Media influencers will also love this place for the infinity pool and green. You practically get the place to yourselves. Then in the surrounding region, you have waterfalls, real hiking, palm wine, fruit farms. Lovely place.

Hiking up Kilimanjaro & Safari
Adrenaline rush! The views up there is sooo amazing! So worth it! 6 to 7 days of no phone reception. Totally disconnected for a while. It was so refreshing.
After hiking up Kilimanjaro, I did a Safari tour for about 3 days 2 nights. I did the Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. I did manage to see all the Big 5s! Lucky me! They are Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo. It was like National Geography right infront of your very eyes!
It was my first trip to Africa and definitely not the last. Hopefully to return to Africa and explore the rest of it! Definitely one day!

African Village in Indonesia, what? Amazed!!!
There is a very famous wildlife park in Indonesia, taman safari, which has three places, in Bogor County in West Java, Surabaya in East Java and Bali. Taman safari Zoo is 90 kilometers away from Jakarta. It is located at the foot of Mount Gede at an altitude of 9 From 00 to 1,800 meters, the average temperature is only between 18 degrees and 24 degrees. The climate is cool and the scenery is pleasant. Here, more than 2,500 animals around the world and local animals, such as Comoosaurus, rhinos, bison, Malay bears, white tigers, elephants and other rare birds and beasts, are leisurely and playful in the tropical bushes. As the "ancestor" of the safari park, it began operation in 1984 and opened in 1986. At that time, it was also the first safari concept in Asia and had an aquarium, with 2 million visitors every year.
If you ever find yourself in Bogor, make sure you visit this place.

it is Paradise, La Digue
My experience this one require some walking like before. I can reach it from both directions on foot, I came from Grande firstly then and Petite Anse. The walk wasn't easy since it required some hiking on the beach, in the woods, in water and over two hills for a few times. suddenly I came across and ask the guy selling coconut on Anse Petite to get on the right path almost lost. The walk from Anse Petite is about half an hour, including a few of different terrain. Along the way i encounter with some travelers too. Then everything get exciting. Do not wear your favorite white dress, since it will be dirty when you get there 🤣🤣.
We all reached Anse Coco atlast. It is a small beach with a natural pool at the other end. There was only a few people when we got there. One guy was selling coconut water, otherwise there will be just you, the beach and crystal clear water Which is really gorgeous 😍. Seychelles was a superb nature wonders !!! #ladigue #seychelles #africa
