I discovered a real-life City of Roses in Saudi Arabia!!
On this trip to Saudi Arabia, I unlocked an incredibly niche yet breathtakingly beautiful place — Taif. I can't believe more people don't know about it!!
🎈Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Taif in the morning and take a taxi to the hotel to check in. Taxis are readily available in Taif, and the drivers are mostly very welcoming. After a short rest, take a taxi to Al Sulaimaniah Park. This park has a rich history and offers a glimpse into local life. I recommend spending 2–3 hours here.
Day 2: Get up early and take a taxi to Mount Shada to watch the sunrise. Waiting quietly at the summit as the sky gradually turns golden is truly therapeutic! After about 3 hours of exploring, head down the mountain and stroll through Taif's old town on foot. The architecture here is full of traditional Arabian charm, and the various small shops are fascinating. Take your time and spend 3–4 hours wandering around.
Day 3: In the morning, take a taxi to the Taif Rose Farm. This is a rose paradise, with the fragrance of roses permeating the air. Spend about 2 hours here. In the afternoon, prepare for your return journey.
✨Highlights:
The sunrise at Mount Shada is truly spectacular. Standing at the summit, bathed in golden sunlight, overlooking the entire valley with the sea of clouds churning below, it feels like a fairyland. Taif's old town is also full of character, with winding alleys and ancient buildings. Every corner holds a unique surprise. At the Taif Rose Farm, roses bloom freely across the hillsides, making for stunning photos.
🍱Food Recommendations:
I highly recommend Al Bawadi Restaurant, located in the heart of Taif. Their roasted lamb is bursting with local flavor, and the meat is tender and juicy. You must try it! The hummus is also excellent, smooth and creamy.
🏠Accommodation Experience:
I stayed at the InterContinental Taif, which has an excellent location with many restaurants and small shops nearby. The hotel environment is elegant, the rooms are spacious and bright, and the bedding is comfortable. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful in recommending local attractions. It offers excellent value for money.
📌Important Notes:
Remember to check the weather forecast before going to Mount Shada to watch the sunrise. It would be a shame to miss it due to bad weather. Also, Taif has strong UV rays, so be sure to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and other sun protection items. When dining in restaurants, be mindful of local dining etiquette.
Taif, Saudi Arabia, is truly a place full of surprises. From the beautiful scenery to the delicious food, it's an unforgettable experience. I'm sure you'll fall in love with it too. Start planning your trip now!
