It’s very well maintained , even the toilet is clean. ✨Highlights - When one orders the cheese 🧀 overload burger, they first deliver the burger with fries 🍟 by lift ( if upstairs, which I recommend), then the chef walks up to put the fresh melted cheese onto your burger 🍔 while you watch and drool 🤤 over it. I highly recommend potato wedges over the fries. 💰Avg. Price per Person - 89元 for the cheesy burger, which is the most expensive on the menu. Other simple but delicious burgers range from 50 to 70元. WangHaiLou is a landmark in the area. The garden surrounding the pavilion is beautiful and lush! You can climb up the stairs in the pavilion to have a view of the river and the boats cruising on it. The old houses on either side are weathered and worn, and elderly people sit on their doorsteps, picking vegetables and chatting, while Suzhou storytelling plays on the radio. Here, there's no excessive commercialization; only the most authentic charm of a water town. 🍃 🍲 Zhenhu Eight Delicacies: Eating Half of Zhenhu in One Meal Entering the ancient town, the aroma of the "Eight Delicacies of Zhenhu" immediately captivated me. Poached crabs, shrimp, soft-shelled turtles, silverfish, snails, shellfish, waterfowl, aquatic vegetables, and lake delicacies—eight kinds of lake seafood, a feast on one table. I chose an old restaurant by the river and ordered poached crabs and shrimp. Poached crabs are unique to Zhenhu. Locals use bamboo weirs to catch them; only the strongest "athletes" can climb over the weirs, their meat firm and their roe plump. Lifting the crab shell, golden crab oil oozes out; dipped in ginger and vinegar, it's so fresh it'll make your eyebrows fall off. The prawns aren't large, but their meat is springy and bouncy; blanching brings out their natural flavor. The owner says that the eight delicacies of Zhenhu Lake emphasize "eating what's in season," with specific fish eaten according to the season. Snails are fattest in April, silverfish are freshest in May, and crabs are plumpest in autumn. Sitting by the window overlooking the river, eating crab while watching small boats glide by, this is the true tranquility of a water town. 🏘️ Bluestone Paths: Every Step Tells a Story After a satisfying meal, I began to wander aimlessly. The ancient town isn't large, but the alleys are deep; every turn reveals a surprise. The former residence of Academicians Li Deren and Li Deyi is the ancestral home of these two academicians, with its blue bricks and gray tiles, deep courtyard, and stone lions at the entrance polished to a shine. Green Tree Temple is the oldest temple in the ancient town. Inside, there's a camellia tree dating back to the Song Dynasty, said to be over 800 years old. In April, when it blooms, the tree is covered in red blossoms like a cloud of rosy clouds. Unfortunately, when I visited, the blooming season had just ended, but the tree's trunk, thick as a dragon, was still breathtaking. An old monk in the temple gave me a string of Bodhi beads, saying, "Let's make a good connection." 🍡 Qintong on the Tip of Your Tongue: Even the Snacks Have a Story Qintong's snacks are another kind of temptation. Fish balls are a must-try, made with Qinhu whitefish meat, bouncy and tender, 10 yuan a bowl. Shrimp balls are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, you can taste a whole shrimp in one bite. The sesame flatbread is charcoal-baked, crispy and crumbly, paired with a bowl of tofu pudding, it's the perfect afternoon tea. I bought a bag of fish balls and a bag of shrimp balls on the old street and sat on the stone steps by the river to eat slowly. An old man next to me was fishing, not catching anything for a long time, but he wasn't in a hurry, just sitting there. A few days ago, it was said that the Suzhou Hejing Courtyard by Marriott stopped lounge service at the end of February, so the Taizhou Courtyard by Marriott, which still offers it, can be called a little Marriott. The hotel's exterior architecture has won the Luban Award. When you enter the hotel, you'll notice the high-ceilinged lobby, the fountain in front of the breakfast hall, and the crystal chandeliers—all meeting Marriott standards. The hotel is relatively new, rooms are large, curtains and shower curtains can be controlled electrically, the first round of minibar is free, and the bathroom is equipped with hand cream and mouthwash. Additionally, the hotel offers services like steam eye masks, clearly aiming to match Marriott standards (although the rooms are a bit smaller). Breakfast is from 6:30 to 10:00.
