Where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic! Two seas meet to create this wonderful opportunity to see! One side the harshness of the Atlantic Ocean, the other the warm and fresh Mediterranean Sea! Plus in the distance in a clear day you can see the beginning of Africa and more precisely Morocco! This place is wonderful, yet offer windy on the beach, however well worth a day and even a night stay in one of the many hotels and hostel Tarifa has to offer! Quaint and quirky little Spanish shops and restaurants will keep you occupied after your stay in the beach during the day! Having been many times now I throughly love it! ☀️🌅

Los Alcornocales Natural Park, located north of Tarifa, is one of the largest and most important cork oak forests in Spain. The climate is relatively humid, sometimes featuring the rare European cloud forest, with many forests, valleys, and streams. It is famous for its rich biodiversity (deer, wild boar, birds of prey, etc.) and hiking trails. The mountain paths are lined with pepper trees, and I always pick a bunch whenever I pass by. Estrecho Natural Park (Parque Natural del Estrecho) is the most important natural park closest to Tarifa, protecting the ecological environment along the coast and surrounding waters of the Strait of Gibraltar. You don't see many birds or other animals except seagulls. The Interpretation Centre is well equipped and provides a brief history of the island as well as information on the local flora and fauna and other features of the Strait of Gibraltar. The visit starts at 12 noon, but you must buy your tickets a little earlier at the tourist office in the city center (4 euros for adults, must be paid by card). This is the only slightly problematic aspect of visiting the island. The local guide gave a brief explanation in Spanish and English. The views from the upper floors of the castle are great. A walk along the castle walls offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Tarifa from the top, with stunning sea views and, if the weather is clear, a clear view of the African coast. The lady at the ticket office was very friendly. The visit lasts about 45 minutes and the entrance fee is 5 euros. The ship departed from Tarifa, Spain at 5pm, but arrived in Tangier, Morocco at the same time.
