¡Welcome to PortAventura!
🇪🇸🌟 Europe's most extreme roller coasters in a Mediterranean seaside resort town? You'll only find that in Spain!🔥
☔️ In April 2026, I visited PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land (Caribe Aquatic Park wasn't open for the season yet), and it turned out to be one of the rainiest days of my entire European trip.
🗺️ The main area, PortAventura Park, is divided into 6 themed zones: Mediterrània, Far West, México, China, Polynesia, and SésamoAventura.
💯 Let me give you a detailed breakdown of these zones, ranked in ascending order of how much I loved them.
🐣 SésamoAventura – A kids' zone where even adults will enjoy strolling around and reminiscing about characters from their favorite childhood TV show. If you're traveling with little ones, you'll definitely spend a lot of time here.
🌅 Mediterrània – Designed like a charming fishing village, this zone serves as the park's entrance. I absolutely loved Furius Baco—it was my first ride of the day and completely blew my mind. Accelerating from 0 to 135 km/h in just 3 seconds is shocking and literally pins you to your seat.
🇲🇽 México – A colonial-era-themed zone featuring Mayan pyramids. This is home to the famous Hurakan Condor—an 86-meter free fall offering an incredible view from the top.
🇵🇫 Polynesia – A lush, tropical green jungle. The main attractions here are the Tutuki Splash water ride (have your raincoats ready!) and Kontiki (a great warm-up for your vestibular system before hitting the big roller coasters).
🇨🇳 China – This is where you'll find the most extreme roller coasters in the park: Shambhala (the lack of over-the-shoulder restraints is the only scary part, but the view from the top is unreal) and Dragon Khan (which is genuinely terrifying).
🤠 Far West – My absolute favorite zone! Here, you'll find the wooden coasters Tomahawk and Stampida, along with the brand-new Uncharted ride.
🌧️ I had prepared a ride itinerary in advance, but the weather forced me to switch things up. I had to skip almost all the water rides.
🇮🇹 After exploring the main park, you simply have to visit its Italian neighbor: Ferrari Land.
🏎️ Opened less than a decade ago in 2017, this is currently the only Ferrari theme park in Europe.
🎢 It boasts some of the coolest, most cutting-edge rides, like Red Force—a 90-degree launch up to the height of a 30-story skyscraper at 180 km/h.
🍕 You'll also get to soak up a gorgeous Italian atmosphere, featuring replicas of the Colosseum, St. Mark's Campanile, La Scala theater, and the Enzo Ferrari house. It brought back wonderful nostalgic memories of my trip to Italy a few years ago.
❓ So, what are my top tips before you visit?
1️⃣ Buy your tickets in advance and get the two-park pass right away.
2️⃣ You can walk to the park from Salou or take a taxi from Tarragona. If you're coming from Barcelona, plan your route ahead of time: there were no direct trains in April, so it took me two trains and a bus just to get there one-way, taking about 2 hours.
3️⃣ Arrive right when the park opens at 10:30 AM. You'll have plenty of time to explore, especially since Ferrari Land doesn't open until 4:30 PM.
4️⃣ Bring power banks, raincoats, snacks, and water.
5️⃣ Ideally, splurge on a Fast Pass for the 10 main attractions. With it, I got to ride everything I wanted; without it, the lines are massive.
6️⃣ Download the park app to check wait times and find shows. I highly recommend catching the parade—it's totally worth it here.
7️⃣ Use the lockers for your personal belongings before getting on the rides; they're available almost everywhere.
¡Bienvenido a PortAventura!
