It’s super popular and packed with people, but we got lucky and grabbed a table. We shared one portion of pilaf between the two of us, plus flatbread, a tomato salad, and ayran. And let me tell you, the portion was so huge that we barely finished it, leaving us deeply satisfied. It was delicious, hearty, and tasted just like home. Plus, it was incredibly cheap. 📌 Central Asian Pilaf Center Beshqozon Teleminora Now this is a true gastronomic show. It's the famous pilaf center near the Tashkent TV Tower. Here, pilaf isn't just food; it's a ritual. We ordered the choyxona osh pilaf, added some qazi, tried the tuy-osh, achichuk salad, and, of course, tea. The interior is super cozy and full of local flavor. For food, we obviously went with the samsa — straight from the oven, hot, and crispy. I got the lamb one. Honestly, the meat was a bit of a letdown; it was too stringy for my liking. But the kumis with herbs was absolute fire! Walk along the beautiful canal and explore the cafés, restaurants and terraces all in one place. Despite being one of my memorable evening spots in Tashkent, it's often missed by tour guides online and I only found out about it from a local taxi driver. Inspired by South Korea, Seoul Mun is the very nice place for an evening walk. After sunset, the musical fountain and colourful light show transform the canal into a beautiful water and light show with some traditional Uzbek music. 🌈 🎟️ Entry: Free ⏰ Recommended visit: 2–3 hours including a meal and looking around the stores I'd recommend arriving after sunset for the best experience. The fountain show usually starts between 18:00–19:00 (seasonal) and runs approximately every hour until around 22:00–23:00. 📍 Getting there: Around a 10–15 minute walk from Milliy Bog Metro Station on the Chilanzar Line. I saw it in the recommendations and couldn't resist! Especially since we were arriving late and wanted a hotel close to the airport. And the breakfast completely won me over! The restaurant is located on a glass-enclosed terrace, designed to look like a cozy garden. There are plenty of traditional decorations, and you instantly feel like you've stepped into an Oriental fairytale. Even the placemats look like tiny carpets. The food is impeccable! A big plus for me was the great coffee from a proper espresso machine. And you don't have to constantly hunt down the staff to refill the milk or empty the drip tray (which happens a lot in countries where tea is the main drink). There's a huge selection of high-quality meat dishes, fresh greens, and cheeses. Breakfast is always our main meal of the day, but even we couldn't try everything here! The croissants stole my heart. It genuinely feels like they have a baker from Paris. I mean it! Even plain, without any fillings, they're an absolute delight. But paired with smoked salmon… I was ready to beg for mercy 😂 If you're in the mood for something exotic, grab a teapot and some pialas (traditional bowls). Drink your tea like the locals do, paired with sweets, nuts, and raisins. If you've got a real sweet tooth, they have pastries, sweet buns, stuffed crepes, and macarons. This colossal complex was under construction for nearly eight years and officially opened in the spring of 2026. Almost immediately after opening, it made it into the Guinness World Records as the largest museum of Islamic civilization in the world! ✨ What to See & Main Highlights The complex covers a massive area of about 10 hectares. Its architecture follows the traditions of the Timurid era: majestic 34-meter-tall entrance portals, intricate openwork carvings, striking mosaics, and a massive 65-meter-high turquoise dome that dominates the entire site. The museum space is divided into unique interactive halls that showcase the periods of the Eastern Renaissance and the contributions of great scholars (such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, and Ulugh Beg) to global science, culture, and astronomy. ⭐️ The Ultimate Must-See: Housed under the dome in a special multimedia atrium is the greatest relic of the Islamic world — the original Uthman Quran (7th century), which is inscribed in the UNESCO "Memory of the World" Register. 🕰️ Best Time to Visit The complex is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week (making it the first museum in the country with such convenient evening hours). 📍 Ideal visiting time: Arrive around 6:30 PM–7:00 PM. 1️⃣ Do you need a passport and a visa? Passport — yes, you can't enter with a Russian internal ID. Visa — Russian citizens don't need one for trips up to 15 days. 2️⃣ What’s the currency and what should I bring to exchange? Currency — Uzbekistani som. We brought US dollars and exchanged them at official exchange offices. I don't recommend exchanging money on the street. 3️⃣ When is the best time to visit? We went in early May, and the weather was super comfortable. The best time to travel is spring (April–May) and fall (September–October). In the summer, temperatures can top 104°F (+40°C). 4️⃣ Can you travel there on your own? I’d say you absolutely should. At first, I looked into booking with a tour operator so I wouldn't have to stress about transfers, tickets, and lodging. But most of the tours I found looked less comfortable: no high-speed trains, barely any time to explore the cities, and a really packed itinerary. Plus, planning the trip independently actually turned out to be cheaper. 5️⃣ How do you get between cities? The Afrosiyob high-speed trains, without a doubt. You can easily buy tickets via the Uzrailway Tickets app. If you're paying with a foreign card, you’ll want to book well in advance—the best seats sell out fast. 6️⃣ How do you get around the cities? Yandex Taxi works there. I was able to link my UnionPay card and pay for rides right in the app. Speaking from personal experience, I recommend choosing at least the "Comfort" ride option. 7️⃣ Do Russian bank cards work? Most Russian cards don’t work. We used a Russian Agricultural Bank UnionPay card—it worked perfectly for shopping, taxis, and tickets. 8️⃣ Can you buy alcohol? Yep, alcohol is freely available. However, we were surprised to find that some stores only accept card payments for alcohol. So, it's a good idea to have a working bank card on hand just in case. 9️⃣ How many days do you need for the trip? Eight days were plenty for us to see three cities. A brand-new hotel, just opened—we were among the first guests, and we couldn’t have been happier. It’s a beautifully designed hotel, refined down to the smallest details, warm, and with a great focus on every aspect. The decor is entirely in authentic Uzbek style, located just steps away from Tashkent's main attractions in a stunning, modern neighborhood. The rooms are equipped with every convenience, featuring comfortable beds and tasteful furnishings. From the balcony of our King Room, we enjoyed a gorgeous view of the city. The staff's kindness was exceptional, and a special thanks goes to Bekhruz, who welcomed us with both professionalism and friendliness. He was always ready to assist with any of our needs! When we requested a taxi to the airport for the next day, he even arranged one and provided it free of charge. I think this is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Tashkent, and I absolutely recommend it. If I return to Uzbekistan, I’ll definitely stay here again!
