Thunder Bay was actually a great overnight stop. Stayed at Howard Johnson by Wyndham Thunder Bay, clean room, decent free breakfast, just no elevator. Went to Wacky’s Thunder Bay for wings, games & photobooths, then hit Kakabeka Falls the next morning before heading out.

#canadatrip One summer day, I cycled from downtown Toronto along the lake, not really planning how far I’d go — just following the water. Kilometres passed quietly, the city slowly stretching out behind me, until the landscape changed completely. The flat bike path ended, and at some point I had to get off the bike and walk. That’s when the Scarborough Bluffs appeared — tall white cliffs dropping straight into Lake Ontario, calm and dramatic at the same time. From downtown to here and back is roughly 50 km, which sounds manageable, but it’s still a long day on the bike. Mostly flat, yes — but steady, long, and tiring in that slow-burning way. And totally worth it. At the top, you can sit and look back toward the skyline, tiny and distant across the water. Down below, the beach feels wild and peaceful, far from the city noise. That day, planes from an airshow crossed the sky above the lake, adding another layer to the view.
