But the atmosphere of the bays and ancient towns here surprisingly rivals that of the South of France or Southern Italy. Montenegro, this treasure small country on the Adriatic coast, offers an experience far beyond expectations with its beauty of mountains, sea, and towns… Quick itinerary overview: Day 1️⃣ Dubrovnik → Kotor → Budva: Take a bus from Dubrovnik’s main bus station directly to Kotor (actual travel time is longer than official estimates due to traffic along the Montenegrin coast). Then take a taxi to the car rental point (there’s no ride-hailing app, so you need to message the taxi company via WhatsApp to call a taxi). Drive to Budva and check in. Day 2️⃣ Budva → Perast: In the morning, head to Sveti Stefan Island (navigate up the hill to the church). Return to Budva for lunch at Restoran Vista Vidikovac, whose terrace overlooks the entire old town of Budva. After lunch, walk from the hotel parking lot to the Ballet Dancer statue for photos. If time allows, explore Budva’s old town. In the afternoon, drive to Perast, take a detour up the mountain to Horizont Bar, which offers a spectacular panoramic view of Kotor Bay from a high vantage point (a drink purchase is required). Montenegro one of the underrated countries in Eastern Europe. Capital Podgorica is not that touristy and cool. Budva is a beach shore town which is one of the main attractions for swimming and tours. Night life and food is an experience. The next attraction is 30minutes away which is Kotor. Old town and cruise ships must be a colour for eyes. The town is surrounded by black mountains. Other attractions are blue cave, perast, our lady of rocks etc.

I wonder if anyone loves a small island-style place as much as I do ~ if there is one other country in the Balkan Peninsula of Eastern Europe "Black Mountain" is super for you. I'd like to share my impressions of our vacation on the Luštica Peninsula. For some reason, we never realized how interesting it could be. Unlike Budva and Kotor, it's not as famous—there are no major landmarks or obvious reasons for a dedicated visit. Nevertheless, it's an incredible place for a getaway for several reasons: · It's less crowded and practically free of random tourists. The roads are clear, and there's no constant roar of traffic or shouting from vacationers dropping in to party for a few days. It's completely tranquil here. · The nature is magnificent, and there are no large enterprises or industrial zones around. · There's no through traffic, which once again means pure peace and quiet. · Most of the coastline faces the open sea, so the water is a bit cleaner than in the Bay of Kotor. · There are several ancient ruins that are fascinating to explore and perfect for catching a sunset. · You'll find the incredibly cozy town of Rose, which has an absolutely perfect fishing village atmosphere and a couple of very decent cafes. · Accommodation options fit any budget, from camping sites to luxury hotels, and no matter where you stay, you'll have plenty of opportunities to unplug from city life and the daily grind. · If the previous points aren't enough, you can come up with your own, but for that, you'll just have to come here first...

Of course, Reshugent's restaurant has incredible desserts. But the real reason to go is the Salmon Benedict for breakfast. They've been using the same recipe for at least seven years, and that's fantastic. You won't find such a delicious dish with such a perfect combination of ingredients anywhere else. Everything is so perfect: the poached eggs are just right, the bun is just the right thickness, the spinach complements the flavor, and of course, the amazing Hollandaise sauce—it's the real deal, not mayonnaise like other places. Special kudos for adding salmon (and not bacon) to the dish. Overall, I highly recommend it. Keep in mind that breakfast is served until 12 noon.

Come here in the evening. This promenade is perfect for leisurely strolls and romantic encounters with stunning sunsets, as the sun sets directly on the masts of yachts moored in the marina. The many restaurants, perfect for a glass of wine or a hearty dinner, will leave you indifferent. Choose a table overlooking the bay entrance.

Casa Manor Hotel was the perfect base for our Montenegro trip. Its convenient location made it easy for us to explore nearby gems like Perast and Kotor, where we spent our days wandering through charming old towns and soaking in the beautiful coastal scenery. One of the highlights of our stay was definitely the breakfast. There was a great variety of options, and everything was delicious. In the evening, we enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere at the hotel restaurant — such a chill place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The only downside was that smoking is allowed in the restaurant certain areas and unfortunately, the smell of cigarette smoke could still be noticed even in the non-smoking section. How beautiful Tivat is in May! White houses with tiled roofs, roses blooming in every yard, the scent of flowers everywhere, blue skies, the deep blue Bay of Kotor... Rent a car and drive into the mountains: the views from the mountain roads of the bay and the Adriatic Sea are simply stunning! And the air is breathtaking! May 1-3 are public holidays in Montenegro, and shops are closed, but you won't go hungry: bakeries (there are many), the local vegetable market, cafes... and you can buy everything you need at the nearest gas station, that's how it is ☝️ Reviews of accommodations often say that the proximity of the airport in Tivat doesn't interfere with a night's rest. Of course! After all, the airport doesn't operate at night (apparently due to the lack of runway lighting). So you can safely book accommodation near the airport. ...and the people of Tivat are kind, smiling and happy to welcome guests from anywhere in the world.

Staying here can often be more affordable while still giving easy access to nearby towns. Perast is a small town on the shores of the Bay of Kotor, easily walked in 10 minutes, but you certainly don't want to rush it 💖 It's located a few kilometers from Kotor and is known not only for its waterfront but also for two islands across the street: St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks. The latter is particularly interesting because it's an artificial island created around a cliff; according to legend, after discovering the icon, sailors began piling stones there. Perast once boasted many palaces and churches, as the town was associated with maritime trade and Venetian influence. And you can tell: it looks less like a typical resort town and more like a small, elegant waterfront town that clearly once had a much more vibrant life. But the best time to visit Perast is at sunset. The houses begin to reflect the sunlight, the water becomes softer, the tourist bustle subsides, and the town becomes a beautiful backdrop for a leisurely stroll. If you're arriving by car, be prepared for paid parking. We were offered 20 euros to park our car, along with a tour of the local museum. If you didn't want the tour, parking was 10 euros, and with some bargaining, we could get it down to 7 euros. We didn't want to pay that much for just an hour's walk, so we ended up finding a free spot. 👀So my advice: don't settle for the first option right away, especially if you're only visiting for a short time. We didn't make it to the museum because it was already late, but if you have time, I'd definitely stop by. Perast makes you feel at ease very quickly.
