The mountains are beautiful, but those around El Chaltel in Argentina are even better. Moreover, in Torres del Paine you need to pay 30 US$ to enter the place. After paying that we were told that we could not use the trails because we arrived after 11.00. Everything in the park is extremely expensive. In El Chaltel the trails are all free to use.

Torres Del Paine National Park is situated in Chile, close to the border with Argentina. The national park has lots of lovely waterfalls, hiking treks and lagoons with information around the park on its history.
To get there, it is recommended to either stay in Chile or El
Calafate in Argentina (which is a 6 hour drive). Inside the park there are toilets but no opportunities to buy refreshments, so it is best to bring your own. The flora and fauna inside the park
Is very interesting too as it has one of the biggest populations of pumas

Grey Glacier
Chile's Grey Lake is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Patagonia, located in Torres del Paine National Park. Known for its turquoise blue waters and the breathtaking views that surround it, I enjoyed watching the magnificent glaciers melt and pour into the lake, forming blocks of ice that float on the water's surface. This area offers not only great opportunities for hiking and photography but also boat trips that depart from the glacier. It's an unforgettable experience for nature and adventure enthusiasts, combining breathtaking natural beauty.

A day's walk to the base of Mirador Las Torres offers a close and personal view of the towers from various angles, including a custom viewpoint.
The hike to Mirador Las Torres is 17km long and takes between 7 to 10 hours to complete.
We did it between 6:30 and 7:00, but I must say that we walked early to avoid the crowds.
Since this area is very popular for backpacking, camping, and hiking, you will meet other people while exploring (we were actually surprised by how many people were traveling, and we had to line up for the first kilometer of the hike.
The best time to visit this trail is from October to April. We did it in December, but we were lucky because it snowed last week.

Torres del Paine National Park.
Great experience! We booked an amazing trek with a local guide, and so we learned everything about the place, and knew where to stop for the best views! The park is full of lakes, rivers, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and a variety of animals and birds!
Beautiful scenery: exposed mountain tops, glaciers, glacial lakes. Excellent hiking. Busy at the southern end with the W-Trek. The north is much more remote.
We entered through the Laguna Amarga entrance and the tour bus took us to Hotel Las Torres Patagonia. It was the trek we decided to do and we didn't know how long it would take to reach Refugio Chileno and Mirador Base La Torre. We decided to go north.
From Chile's Puerto Natales, two buses leave daily for all park entrances. One at the start, one at the end of the day. The ticket is valid for a round trip and always serves the same company. Buses run only during the peak season.
I confess that the trek was, in some ways, 'introverted,' and the stunning scenery and climbing made my legs 'tremble.' Thankful for the photos and reflections of the place. We will return.

Mirador Base Las Torres
I hiked at the end of November and was lucky with good sunshine. The weather is varied, so be prepared for sun, rain, cold, and gusts. I would not enjoy the peak season with so many hikers. The last 3km were unexpectedly steep and rocky. The trail closes at 3 pm about 3km away from Mirador Torres. The peaks are impressive and the highlight of the park.
A must-see when visiting Torres del Paine for the amazing views. I highly recommend starting very early or staying at Refugio Chileno to start early. If you can catch the sunrise, you'll see otherworldly scenery and beat all the traffic jams of buses dropping people off at 8 am. An unforgettable memory.
Hiked on January 8, 2024. Left Campamento Chileno at 3:45 am and arrived at Base Torres at 5:20 am - missed the first light but the sun rose around 5:45 am.
The first part of the hike in the dark is easy, well-marked, and flat. The last 30 minutes of the hike are a tough climb. It's easy to stray off the path on the rocks, but you can keep to the trail by following others or keeping GPS close.
This place. One of my favorites in the world. After walking the W for 4 days, I had the privilege of having them to myself for about 50 minutes before heading back down. It's a really tough walk, but I'm happy I saved them for the last day!! Unfortunately, I was too tired to get up for sunrise, but I got there around 10 am, and it felt like I was among the crowds, and on my way down around 11 am, I passed about 100 people who were all there together - I was so thankful to my guardian angel for that treat. So here's a tip for others.
At the top, it's very windy and cold. Bring all the layers, snacks, blankets, and other things you can to be comfortable when enjoying the spectacular views or the golden hour.

Hiking in Sarmiento in search of magical animals of Patagonia
📍CHILE🇨🇱Patagonia·Torres del Paine
🌐From September to November, the wind in Patagonia is relatively strong, but the temperature is gradually warming up and it's not very cold. However, this kind of wind is impossible to experience in the city. The wind in Patagonia always carries a strong malice😂
👣Lago Sarmiento Trekking
You can see the beautiful Lake Sarmiento and hike in the valley next to it. There are no overly difficult slopes, and anyone in normal health can complete it. The round-trip hike is about 8 kilometers, which is considered a light hike in the Paine National Park.
📌On this route, you can see cave paintings left by people who lived here 6000 years ago. The plants in picture 8⃣️ are the 'brushes' they used to paint. This route also has the highest chance of seeing the magical animals of Patagonia. Many animals live on the meadows and by the lakes.
💕It's worth mentioning that this is the area in the vast Paine National Park where Pumas live most densely. The chance of seeing them is also the highest. However, Pumas are very patient animals. They rarely move easily. They don't usually attack directly when hunting, but wait in the same place for 3-4 hours. When the prey comes to them, they bite and start to enjoy. Travelers who can see them are absolutely lucky!
🎙️Tips: Please follow the hiking guide closely. If you really encounter dangerous situations such as being surrounded by Pumas, don't run and don't turn your back on them. Face them and wave your body and arms to roar and scare them away, letting them know that humans are not their prey~
🐦The bird in picture 3⃣️ is very interesting. The white one is male, and the black one is female. If the female dies first, the male will immediately die for love. If the male dies first, the female will immediately remarry😂

Patagonia's Wild Heart 🌎
Patagonia, a land of untamed wilderness that stretches across Argentina and Chile, captured my spirit with its breathtaking landscapes of glaciers, rugged mountains, and expansive steppe. This remote region, where nature reigns supreme, offered an adventure into the heart of the wild, where the air is pure and the vistas are endless.
Trekking through Torres del Paine National Park 🏞️, I was awestruck by the iconic granite towers that pierce the sky, while the turquoise waters of Lake Pehoé reflected the ever-changing Patagonian light. Each step on this land felt like walking through a painting, with Mother Nature as the artist.
The Perito Moreno Glacier, a colossal river of ice that groans and creaks as it advances, was a highlight of my journey through Argentine Patagonia. Standing before this glacier, feeling the chill in the air and witnessing chunks of ice calving into the water with thunderous splashes, was a moment of pure awe 🧊.
The vast Patagonian Steppe, with its windswept plains and hardy flora, told stories of endurance and beauty in simplicity. Driving along the seemingly endless roads, I encountered guanacos grazing, ñandús sprinting across the land, and the occasional condor soaring above, each sighting a reminder of the wild's untamed spirit 🦅.
A boat trip through the fjords of Chilean Patagonia revealed a world where waterfalls cascade down from the heavens, and ancient forests cling to the mountainsides. The silence here was profound, broken only by the sound of water and wind, a sanctuary for the soul 🌊.
Patagonia's small towns and remote estancias offered warm hospitality amidst the wilderness. In places like El Chaltén and Puerto Natales, I found cozy refuges where stories of adventurers and dreamers are shared over cups of yerba mate and hearty meals 🍲.
Under the southern stars, Patagonia revealed its nocturnal beauty. The clear skies, free of light pollution, displayed the Milky Way in all its splendor, a celestial spectacle that humbled and inspired me 🌌.
Patagonia, with its #WildHeart, is not just a destination; it's an encounter with the elemental forces of nature, a journey that challenges and changes you. In this land of glaciers, mountains, and endless horizons, I found a profound connection to the earth and a reminder of the wild beauty that still exists in our world 🌍✨.

Patagonia's Pristine Wilderness
Embarking on an expedition to Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia was a venture into one of the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet. Renowned for its rugged mountain peaks, vibrant blue glaciers, and diverse wildlife, this remote wilderness offers an unparalleled adventure for nature enthusiasts and trekkers.
The trek to the base of the Paine Towers, the park's iconic jagged mountain peaks, was both challenging and awe-inspiring. Each step through this dramatic landscape revealed panoramic vistas that were nothing short of spectacular, with the park's natural beauty unfolding in every direction.
A boat trip to the Grey Glacier was a mesmerizing experience. Watching the massive ice formation creak and calve into the lake below was a powerful reminder of nature's beauty and ferocity. The glacier's vibrant blue hues and immense size were truly a sight to behold.
Exploring the park’s diverse ecosystems, I encountered a variety of wildlife. The sight of guanacos grazing on the vast steppe, condors soaring overhead, and the elusive puma, added an exciting element of wilderness exploration.
Staying in one of the eco-friendly lodges within the park provided a comfortable yet immersive experience. Waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the Paine massif and the serene Patagonian landscape was an unforgettable way to start each day.
Remember, the weather in Patagonia can be unpredictable and change rapidly. Adequate preparation with layers of clothing, waterproof gear, and sturdy hiking boots is essential for a safe and enjoyable adventure.
Lastly, a visit to Torres del Paine is not just about the stunning scenery; it’s about understanding and respecting the fragile environment of this unique ecosystem. Responsible tourism practices help preserve this majestic wilderness for future generations.

The weather and scenery in Bernardo O'Higgins National Park, Chile are quite good today
Bernardo O'Higgins National Park is quite far from Puerto Natales, the bus leaves at 12 o'clock, arrives at the gate at 2 o'clock, and arrives at this camp at 3 o'clock.
The bus ticket is quite expensive, the round trip is 21000,
There is also an entrance fee of 35 USD for Bernardo O'Higgins National Park.
Anyway, since we are here, we might as well enjoy it.

Patagonia | "The world is huge, and I love it with my insignificance
"
In Patagonia, nature is the absolute ruler. This region, which spans Chile and Argentina, has countless sprawling peaks and glaciers, and is also one of the most famous hiking sanctuaries in the world. Countless people have come, walked, and climbed, but no one dares to say that they have conquered it.
We only picked a few key check-in points from Paine in Chile to El Chaltén in Argentina. The weather is not perfect, but the scenery that should be seen is also seen, and I have personally experienced the original Patagonian wind and the changeable climate of the four seasons in a day-the "authentic" experience of Patagonia.
The deepest feeling here is that you should not be obsessed, because you can't control anything. When the wind is raging, when the rain is pouring, when the weather is clear and the fog is gone, it has nothing to do with you. You only have the road under your feet, only walk a section, and then walk a section, measure the vastness of the mountains with insignificant steps, and then happily accept everything that nature gives you.

Trekking the W in Torres Del Paine 🏕️🥾🏔️
We got off the beaten path to trek the iconic “W” in Chile’s Torres Del Paine National Park.
This five day, 76 km classic route winds through Gatorade-blue glacial lakes, rocky mountains, frosty glaciers, clear streams, and open fields. The landscape seems to change each time you hit a new section of the circuit.
Along the way, pitch a tent at one of several campsites or cozy up in one of the park’s refugios.
It’s definitely a challenge, but worth every step!
Tips:
🔹 For the most budget-friendly option, rent camping gear in nearby Puerto Natales. Carry your own food and shelter from one site to the next.
🔹 If you have extra time, linger at a campsite for an extra day. We loved Camp Grey!
🔹 Not challenging enough? Torres Del Paine is also home to the “O” circuit. You’ll trek four days through the back of the park before walking along Grey Glacier and completing the “W” in the second half.

Chile 🇨🇱 Torres del Paine National Park | W Trek
Patagonia is the southernmost region of South America, with unique shaped peaks, lakes, and glaciers near the Andes Mountains in the west, making it a paradise for outdoor hikers. The most beautiful areas include the central Chilean Torres del Paine National Park and the region near El Chaltén in Argentina.
There are two main hiking routes in Bainei, the W line and the O line. The O line is about 50 kilometers longer than the W line.

Itinerary:
🚗🅿️Welcome Center - ⛺️Campamento Torres - ⛺️Francés - ⛺️Italiano - ⛺️Grey - Ice Hike - ⛴Hotel Lago Grey
ℹ️&📌:
1️⃣The campsite in the park is operated by three companies, and the campsite managed by CONAF Forestry Bureau has only basic facilities.
2️⃣The campsites managed by two other private companies have beds. During peak season, it is necessary to book in advance. If you manage to book, you don't need to carry camping equipment. The only downside is that Refugio Chileno, which is closest to the three towers, is a two-hour walk away and it's inconvenient for watching the sunrise.
3️⃣ Private campsites can also book pre-set tents. Francés upgraded once for free, so fragrant! ❗️
4️⃣For campsites with restaurants, make sure to book meals in advance‼️ Especially for dinner. We couldn't get dinner at Cuernos. Francés was lucky to have dinner and breakfast, and even though there was only a piece of chicken for dinner, it was still satisfying. We couldn't get dinner at Grey for two nights, so we sadly had to eat mashed potatoes and canned fish🐟.
5️⃣ Private campsites generally have shower facilities (which may be cold water) and offer some supplies for purchase.

🇨🇱Torres del Paine National Park - Grey Glacier Hiking Guide
Most tourists who come to Argentina will check in at the Perito Moreno Glacier, but on this trip we chose to hike the Ventisquero Negro Glacier on the Chilean side of the same mountain range 🇨🇱. Because there were only two of us, me and my friend Hang, as tourists that day, the tour guide Salmon joked that this glacier was just for the two of us!
Due to the lack of hiking guides for glaciers in the Chilean Patagonia National Park, we also made mistakes during our trip. Therefore, we have compiled a detailed guide for glacier hiking and hope it will be helpful for those who want to try it in the future~
Location: As shown, located on the north side of Lago Grey in the Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.
❗️Arrival method: It is not possible to drive here by yourself. You need to take a boat from Lago Grey to the hiking campsite, then take a speedboat to the island, and finally walk a section of gravel road to reach the glacier.
🎫Ticket purchasing method:
To come here, you need to purchase 3 tickets:
1. Baike National Park admission ticket (about 200 yuan/person): Don't just come for the glacier after buying the ticket, there are also beautiful landscapes worth exploring!
2. Lago Grey boat ticket (round trip about 500 yuan/person): Buy round trip ticket on the right side of the entrance of Hotel Lago Grey. If you don't want to hike, you can also get a close-up view of the glacier and take a walk around Grey Lake before returning. For friends who want to hike, take the earliest morning trip to the landing point and the latest return trip is around 3:30 pm in the afternoon. There is plenty of time.
❗️3. Hiking ticket (CLP 2,800,000, $1,200/person): It is recommended to purchase in advance before the trip, select the corresponding information, and email the company to confirm if it is possible to hike after arriving on the early morning ferry.
👔Equipment: Essential hat, hand towel, sunglasses, waterproof hiking shoes. In January, when it's coldest, I wear a windbreaker, fleece jacket, and quick-drying clothes, with only one pair of outdoor waterproof pants.
My mistake: I didn't read the ticket instructions carefully, so my husband and I didn't know we could only take a boat to get there... The earliest boat leaves at 10 o'clock and the boat ride takes about 45 minutes, which we couldn't catch up with. Fortunately, we explored the route to the lake the day before, and the kind staff of the boat ticket company helped us coordinate and arranged the hiking time to start at 11 o'clock. Therefore, I suggest that everyone should contact Bigfoot Company for their own schedule before purchasing tickets, so as not to miss such a worthwhile journey.
Finally, what I want to share with everyone is what our guide Salmon told us: this glacier is changing every day, and six months ago it was still several kilometers away, so his hiking route is different every time. Of course, the glacier will also melt one day, "everyday is different", just like life, reminding us to live in the present.

Patagonia here we come!
Absolutely fall in love with this place. View was spectacular, and you could either trek, ride horse, do glaciers navigation or even kayak to the glaciers too! one day Paine tour is also recommended!
could stay in Puerto Natales before heading to the national park, as it is the closest town to the park.
people there are in general very friendly and the whole place is secure and friendly to foreign visitors, but could be difficult for communication if you are not a Spanish speaker!
