Depart Inverness → Duncansby Head (Mainland's northernmost point) → West Coast Highlands → Return

Basic Information
· Route: Clockwise (most classic, first east coast → northernmost point → wild west coast → return)
· Best season: June–August (midnight sun, good road conditions); May/September (fewer crowds, autumn colors)
· Transportation: Car rental/4WD both fine (mostly paved roads, some single-track)
· Highlights: Duncansby Head sea stacks, Dunrobin Castle, Smoo Cave, Achmelvich white sandy beach, Bealach na Bà mountain pass
Day 1: Inverness → Dornoch → Golspie → Helmsdale
· Morning: Inverness (Highlands capital) → visit Inverness Castle, Caledonian Canal
· Afternoon: North on A9 → Dornoch (beach, cathedral)
· Evening: Dunrobin Castle (Scotland’s northernmost fairy-tale castle, gardens + falconry show)
· Night: Stay at Helmsdale Bay B&B
Day 2: Helmsdale → John O'Groats → Duncansby Head (northernmost point)
· Morning: Coastal drive north → John O'Groats (mainland UK northernmost landmark sign)
· Afternoon: Duncansby Head (must-visit)

· Evening: Ullapool (most beautiful fishing village in the Highlands)
· Night: Stay at Ullapool harbor hotel, enjoy seafood fish and chips
Day 5: Ullapool → Gairloch → Torridon
· Morning: Inverewe Garden (subtropical garden, west coast wonder)
· Afternoon: Torridon
◦ Red sandstone peaks, Loch Maree (forest lake), hiking trails
· Night: Stay in Torridon / Gairloch mountain lodge
Day 6: Torridon → Applecross
· All day: Bealach na Bà (Scotland’s most dangerous and beautiful mountain road, 20+ hairpin bends, summit panoramic views)
· Afternoon: Applecross Peninsula (hidden bays, white sandy beaches, fishing village)
· Night: Eat seafood at Applecross Inn, stay in cliffside cottage
Day 7: Applecross → Inverness (return)
· Morning: Return south along coast → Shieldaig small bay, lakeside views
· Afternoon: Via Strathcarron back to Inverness
· Evening: Finish at a Highland whisky bar
