Besides crystal pears, Tottori Prefecture in Japan's San'in region is most famous for its sand dunes facing the Sea of Japan! Although the area isn't massive, the dramatic color contrast that hits you the moment you walk up the stairs is truly a visual stunner! Summer noon temperatures in Tottori often soar to 35 or 36 degrees Celsius! Plus, the sunlight is so intense that your photos might turn out overexposed. Therefore, the ideal time to visit is before 9 AM! The light is softer then, making it easier to snap gorgeous photos, and the temperature is still bearable (though it's usually already pushing 30 degrees!). If you plan to stay longer than half an hour, I highly recommend bringing something to drink. After taking your fabulous photos, you can take your time to visit the nearby Sand Museum. This makes for a perfectly paced itinerary. A weird little fun fact: I drove there from the direction of Yabu, Hyogo, and many of the rural gas stations along the way were closed on Sundays. I couldn't find an open gas station until I finally crossed into Tottori Prefecture.

I super, super, super love this Japanese shrine!! From the statues to the amulets, absolutely everything features super cute bunnies. This shrine is called "Hakuto Shrine". Legend has it that the white rabbit is a messenger of matchmaking. So, I bet everyone knows what this shrine is famous for praying for! XDD This is my first time visiting Japan during the long Obon holiday. The crowds on the streets are seriously insane. My travel buddy, who has visited Hakuto Shrine over 7 times, said this is the first time they've seen so many people in Tottori.

Before visiting Tottori, did you know how incredible the local Hokki Onsen is? Located about a 30-minute drive from Tottori Station, Hokki Onsen offers 100% authentic natural spring water that flows continuously from the source every day. This spring has several unique characteristics: it is never reheated, never recirculated, and never diluted. The hot spring inns here are so luxurious that even the water used for showering and washing your hair is pure hot spring water! Even the cold springs at Hokki Onsen are supplied by pure natural underground sources, which are excellent for relieving nerve and muscle pain, recovering from fatigue, and improving skin health. Maintaining 100% natural spring water that doesn't come into contact with the air requires an abundant supply and a perfect natural temperature, making this level of purity incredibly rare. According to records, Hokki Onsen was originally discovered based on local rumors and was developed with a passionate desire to share its benefits with as many people as possible. 📸 Hokki Onsen 📍 Address: 690 Shimomitsumoto, Ketaka-cho, Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture 🚌 Access: Approx. 25 minutes by car from Tottori Station 😴 Closed: 3rd Wednesday of every month (If it falls on a holiday, it will be closed the following business day) ⏰ Hours: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM 💰 Admission: Adults 550 yen / Children 250 yen

The true essence of travel never lies in reaching a marked destination, but in the courage to surrender to the unknown. Once we are no longer held hostage by schedules or led by red dots on a map, our souls can truly begin to unfold. Following a street vendor's cart selling fermented beans, listening to the gentle rattle of wheels rolling through narrow alleys—around the corner, you might find a half-open wooden door, or perhaps a wild rose peeking over a wall. These serendipitous details are the journey's most tender gifts. We learn to make peace with time, realizing that not every path requires a steep climb. The moment we lean our bamboo ladder against the wall isn't a compromise, but a loving gaze at the present scenery. Acknowledging that we don't need to reach the summit today isn't giving up; it's learning to appreciate the textures we overlook when we only look up, simply by gazing straight ahead. The moss growing in the cracks of stone pavements, the wind chimes swaying beneath the eaves, the palm-leaf fan gently waving in an old man's hand—these subtle quivers bring us closer to the true essence of life than any magnificent sea of clouds ever could. The real meaning of travel, as it turns out, is hidden in the carefree spirit of "seeing where the road takes us," and in the tenderness of pausing for a wisp of cooking smoke or bowing one's head to listen to a bird's song. When we stop measuring every step by whether it is "worth it" or not, we can finally touch the authentic pulse of the land. It is the shape of the wind weaving through the alleys, the trajectory of sunlight drifting across a wall, and that sudden, inexplicable sense of peace that washes over you in an unfamiliar city. Ultimately, the most beautiful scenery is never in some distant land, but in every present moment we choose to pause and embrace.

Desserts, sand dunes, pristine coastlines, starry night skies, Detective Conan, and scenic railways—it's hard to imagine all these incredible elements coexisting in a single city. Tottori is a wonderfully low-key and highly underrated hidden gem. Spending a 5-day, 4-night car-free vacation here is actually quite affordable and surprisingly convenient. ▌ How to Get to Tottori? Tigerair Taiwan offers direct flights to Yonago Airport. From there, you can take a bus or the JR line to Yonago Station, then transfer to the JR San'in Main Line to reach Tottori Station. If you travel by JR, the fare is around 3,500 JPY, and the journey takes at least 2 hours. If you're visiting in the summer, I highly recommend the "Tottori Sakyu (Sand Dunes) Bus"! From July 3 to October 23, 2026, the limited-time "Tottori Sakyu Bus," a 9-seater shared taxi, will be in service. I strongly recommend booking a spot on this ride. The ride costs 4,000 JPY per person and takes about 90 minutes. Solo travelers are totally welcome to book! It costs about the same as the JR train but is far more comfortable, much faster, offers a direct ride from the airport, and even stops at famous Detective Conan attractions along the way. There's honestly no reason not to take it! ▌ From Namba, Osaka to Tottori: A Perfect Combo Trip Tottori pairs perfectly with Osaka for a longer 6 to 7-day trip. You can fly into Osaka and fly out from Tottori (Yonago). Start by exploring Osaka for a few days, then hop on the incredibly cheap 1,000 JPY highway bus from Namba OCAT. To snag this one-way deal, you must board at Namba OCAT. You can reserve your spot online in advance, then pick up your ticket and pay at the station counter. · Namba OCAT Highway Bus: 3 hours, 1,000 JPY · JR Super Hakuto Express: 2.5 hours, 7,500 JPY Given the massive price difference for just an extra 30 minutes of travel, the bus is an absolute steal. The highway bus is super comfy, featuring spacious seats with plenty of legroom and privacy curtains between passengers. There’s also a quick pit stop at a rest area along the way for a restroom break. ※ Note: This special fare is exclusively for the Namba OCAT ⇒ Tottori Station route. It does not apply if you board at Umeda or Kobe. ▌ Where to Stay in Tottori? I highly recommend staying near Tottori Station. It offers the best variety of options at very affordable prices. For example, the Tottori Green Hotel Morris costs only about 2,000 TWD per night and boasts top-notch service and quality. If you’re looking for a more unique experience, consider staying near the Tottori Sand Dunes. For instance, "Sayu" offers a fantastic glamping experience. You can grab some deli food at AEON for dinner, or even rent BBQ equipment for a cookout. On clear nights, it's the perfect spot for stargazing. For Convenience ⭢ Tottori Green Hotel Morris (near Tottori Station) For a Unique Experience ⭢ Sayu Glamping (near Tottori Sand Dunes) ▌ Getting Around Tottori: A Guide to Local Transportation There are four main ways to get around Tottori: Local Buses, the 100-Yen "Kururi" Loop Bus, JR Trains, and the Tottori Tourist Taxi. Google Maps works flawlessly here, so simply fire up the app for easy navigation. · Local Buses (Numbered Routes) This is your primary mode of transport from Tottori Station to major sights like the Tottori Sand Dunes, The Sand Museum, and the Uradome Coast (Routes 33, 32). Board from the rear door and grab a paper ticket. When exiting from the front door, match your ticket number to the fare display board to pay. You can now use ICOCA (and other nationwide IC transit cards). Just tap your card or smartphone on the reader when boarding and alighting. · "Kururi" 100-Yen Loop Bus A handy loop bus for getting around downtown Tottori, stopping at city highlights like the Tottori Prefectural Museum, the Warabekan Toy Museum, and the Tottori Castle Ruins. A flat fare of just 100 JPY per ride, and it also accepts ICOCA and other major IC cards. · JR Trains You'll likely use JR trains if you're heading south of Tottori to places like Chizu or the Wakasa Railway. Keep in mind that some smaller stations in Tottori don’t support IC cards. I highly recommend buying paper tickets for a hassle-free trip. · Tottori Tourist Taxi For 6,000 JPY, you get 3 hours in a sightseeing taxi with 22 tailored routes to choose from, covering almost every must-see spot in Tottori. No advanced booking is required! Simply drop by the Tottori City International Tourist Support Center in front of the station, and the staff will arrange a taxi for you. Each stop has an allocated visiting time, which is usually perfectly paced. This is the ultimate travel hack for groups. Tottori's local bus schedules can be sparse, so hiring a tourist taxi will save you a ton of time. ▌ Top Attractions: What to Do and See in Tottori · Must-Try Tottori Food · Ooe Valley Farm | Soufflé Pancakes We unanimously agreed that this is the best food in Tottori. Their soufflé pancakes are incredibly fragrant with a rich, eggy flavor. They’re perfectly baked—neither soggy nor deflated—maintaining a wonderfully fluffy, cloud-like texture until the last bite. If you have a sweet tooth, make this a top priority. It's a wildly popular treat that easily rivals the famous dessert spots in major cities. |Getting There|Take the JR Inbi Line to Koge Station, then transfer to the Yazu Bus, or take Tottori Tourist Taxi Route 21. · Kaitensushi Hokkaido | Conveyor Belt Sushi The sushi here is deliciously fresh. The only downside is the massive crowd, especially during peak dining hours. I suggest visiting between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to avoid the rush. Plus, they offer unlimited free-flowing miso soup during lunch! The Ekinan branch is quite close to Tottori Station—just a quick bicycle ride away. |Getting There|By car or rental bicycle (via HELLO CYCLING). · Ryudou | Beef Bone Ramen Tottori’s regional specialty is beef bone ramen, featuring a clear, savory beef broth infused with a peppery kick. This particular shop serves a bowl that’s light, refreshing, and never too greasy. I highly recommend adding a side of their delicious beef tendon rice—it’s absolutely worth it. |Getting There|Right in front of Tottori Station. · Top Attractions in Tottori Here are my personal favorites: · Tottori Sand Dunes (Best at Dusk) The ultimate quintessential Tottori experience, and it's easily accessible by bus. While the dunes are open 24/7, I highly recommend visiting at dusk. The weather is cooler, and the golden hour sunlight casts a mesmerizing, warm glow over the rippling sand. The sand here isn't sticky—it dusts right off with a gentle pat, making barefoot walks incredibly comfortable. The dunes also offer plenty of activities like sandboarding and camel rides. If you have the time, definitely give them a try! |Getting There|By bus (Routes 32, 33, or the Tottori Sand Dunes Line) or Tottori Tourist Taxi. · The Sand Museum Located right next to the dunes, this sand sculpture museum is an absolute must-visit. The theme changes annually, and this year’s spotlight is on "Spain." The exhibit beautifully showcases Spain's iconic architecture and vibrant cultural heritage, all crafted entirely from sand. Amazingly, after each exhibition, these intricate sculptures are broken down to be recycled for the following year's masterpieces. |Getting There|By bus (Routes 32, 33, or the Tottori Sand Dunes Line) or Tottori Tourist Taxi. · Uradome Coast Island Sightseeing Boat (Small Boat "Uradome-go") There are two boat tour options for the Uradome Coast: the standard Sightseeing Cruise (Meguri) and the smaller "Uradome-go" boat. I strongly recommend the smaller "Uradome-go." It allows you to weave through the rocky reefs and get an up-close look at the stunning sea caves and dramatic coastline. However, its operation depends heavily on the weather, so catching a ride requires a little bit of luck. Honestly, both options are spectacular. These cruises offer a rare chance to fully appreciate the rugged beauty of the Uradome Coast. Just remember to pop a motion sickness pill before boarding! |Getting There|By bus (Routes 32, 33, or the Tottori Sand Dunes Line) or Tottori Tourist Taxi. · Tottori Prefectural Museum This is a personal favorite of mine. Tottori boasts rich geology and wildlife, and this museum offers fascinating insights into the region's geological history. I recommend dropping by after visiting the sand dunes—it really deepens your appreciation for Tottori's unique natural landscapes. |Getting There|Take the "Kururi" Green Line Loop Bus. ▌ Suggested Tottori Itineraries | Flying in/out via Yonago, or flying in via Osaka and out via Yonago |Day 0| Arrive in Osaka, Depart from Yonago Thanks to the unbelievable 1,000 JPY highway bus deal from Namba OCAT, it's a great idea to spend your first 2 to 3 days exploring Osaka before catching the bus to Tottori. Since Kansai International Airport offers frequent daily flights, this route frees you from the limited Monday/Friday flight schedule to Yonago, giving you ultimate flexibility for your Tottori trip. |Day 1| Airport Arrival & Check-in at Sayu Glamping (Car Rental Recommended) 12:00 PM - Arrive at Yonago Airport via Tigerair IT724 (Mondays) 12:30 PM - Hop on the Tottori Sakyu Bus 1:30 PM - Stopover at Hokuei Town's Conan Town (Included in the bus route) 4:00 PM - Arrive at Tottori Station 4. 30 PM - Pick up a rental car at Times Car Rental near the station, and check in to Sayu 5. 30 PM - Enjoy the golden hour at Tottori Sand Dunes 8:00 PM - Late-night snack & breakfast run at AEON mall If you prefer a completely car-free trip, skip the rental and check straight into the Tottori Green Hotel Morris. You can easily rent a bike via HELLO CYCLING to shop at Don Quijote and grab dinner at Kaitensushi Hokkaido's Ekinan branch. |Day 2| Check Out, Uradome Coast & The Sand Museum 11:00 AM - Uradome Coast Island Sightseeing Boat 1. 00 PM - Explore Shirawara Coast and scenic coastal observatories 2. 00 PM - Visit The Sand Museum 5:00 PM - Return the rental car (Note: Rental shops in Tottori close early!) 5:30 PM - Check in to Tottori Green Hotel Morris |Day 3| Tottori Tourist Taxi Day I highly recommend picking one taxi route for the day. Since you've already seen the dunes, you can skip any routes that include them. Route 21 is a fantastic choice—it takes you to Ooe Valley Farm for those amazing soufflé pancakes, a spot that's otherwise a bit tricky to reach via public transit. Alternatively, the Saji Route (Route 22) is great if you want to explore further out, making the most of your private ride. |Day 4| Local Bus or JR Railway Adventure Here are a few great options to fill your day: · Hakuto Coast Route: Visit Hakuto Shrine, the Hakuto Coastline, and Tottori Conan Airport. · Downtown "Kururi" Loop Bus Route: Explore the Tottori Prefectural Museum, Tottori Castle Ruins, and the Warabekan Toy Museum. · Wakasa Railway Scenic Route: Stop at Koge, Hayabusa, and Wakasa stations for nostalgic railway vibes. Or, simply book another Tourist Taxi route to hit up even more spots with zero hassle. |Day 5| Departure 1. 00 PM - Board the Tottori Sakyu Bus at Tottori Station (Fridays) 2. 00 PM - Stopover at Hokuei Town's Conan Town 3. 50 PM - Arrive at Yonago Airport 5:50 PM - Fly out via Tigerair IT725 ▌ Where to Buy Souvenirs in Tottori There are a few key spots in downtown Tottori to pick up great souvenirs: · Tottori City Furusato Bussankan (Local Products Center) · 7-Eleven inside Tottori Station · Maruyu Department Store (near Tottori Station) · Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport The Furusato Bussankan currently offers an exclusive Pokémon collaboration shopping bag with a minimum purchase. Pokémon fans won't want to miss out on this collector's item! The 7-Eleven inside Tottori Station doubles as a surprisingly well-stocked souvenir shop—it's definitely worth browsing. Die-hard "Detective Conan" fans should definitely save their souvenir shopping for the dedicated gift shop at Tottori Sand Dunes Conan Airport. ▌ Final Thoughts | A Slow, Cozy, and Crowd-Free Getaway While Tottori isn’t overrun with tourists, its attractions are impeccably maintained and smoothly operated: From the 24/7 accessible sand dunes and the reliable coastal sightseeing cruises, to the brilliantly organized tourist taxi system. You never have to worry about getting lost or confused—English information is clear, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and experienced. The lack of massive crowds means you can actually take your time. There's none of that big-city anxiety where you feel forced to wake up at dawn just to beat the queues. The Tottori Sand Dunes are open in all their seasonal glory, waiting along the pristine San'in Coast for you to experience travel in its most unpretentious and purest form.

Tottori was probably the last place where I expected to find myself walking across enormous sand dunes. From the entrance they already look impressive, but the scale doesn't really make sense until you start crossing the sand toward the huge ridge known as Umanose. The climb up is steeper than it appears, especially when every step seems to slide half a step backwards. Reaching the top completely changes the view. Suddenly there's nothing but sand behind you and the Sea of Japan stretching out in front, which is such an unusual combination that for a moment it barely feels like Japan. Bring water and shoes you don't mind filling with sand, but don't turn around before the final ridge. That's where this place really makes sense. #citybreakvsnatureescape #sanddunes #japan #thingstodo #localguide

🏜️ Please be mindful of sun protection and heatstroke prevention when visiting the Tottori Sand Dunes this summer! Many people think heatstroke is only a concern in midsummer, but at the Tottori Sand Dunes, there is a risk of heatstroke anytime the temperature exceeds 20°C (68°F). There is almost no shade across the dunes, so we highly recommend preparing sun protection and staying hydrated before you head out: 🚨 What to bring: Hat, parasol/sun umbrella, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water bottle 💧 Stay hydrated and replenish your electrolytes frequently 👕 Wear breathable, cool clothing ⏰ Take regular breaks and avoid packing your itinerary too tightly The sand surface temperature can get incredibly hot under the intense sun 🔥 ❌ Flip-flops ❌ Sandals ❌ Bare feet ⭕ We recommend wearing socks and closed-toe shoes to prevent burns In summer, the sand gets hot enough to easily burn the soles of your feet; plus, with the steep, rolling dunes, closed shoes make walking much easier. If you experience dizziness, fatigue, nausea, or any other signs of illness, please move to a shaded area to rest immediately. ☀️ During summer (June to August), evening is the most recommended time to visit! Watching the sunset slowly dip into the Sea of Japan, casting a golden glow over the vast dunes, is one of Tottori’s most classic and breathtaking sights. ⏰ Recommended time to spend: Standard sightseeing takes about 1 to 2 hours. If you plan to hike to the "Umanose" (Horse's Back, the highest point of the dunes) for photos—which is about 47 meters high and a 400-meter walk from the entrance—we suggest setting aside 2 to 3 hours. Once at the top, you can simultaneously take in views of: 🌊 The Sea of Japan 🏜️ The Tottori Sand Dunes ☁️ The magnificent sky. 💡 The Tottori Sand Dunes Visitor Center features a foot-washing station and a towel vending machine, making it easy to freshen up after playing in the sand. 📸 Photos with camels Souvenir photo services are available most of the time. During weekends and consecutive holidays, the service is generally limited to taking photos only, without riding experiences. The availability of camel rides is subject to change based on the camels' condition and the weather. Location Tottori Sand Dunes

When visiting the **Tottori Sand Dunes** along the coast of Tottori Prefecture, the most striking aspect is the surreal sensation of suddenly stepping out of Japan and into the Sahara Desert. Sculpted over 100,000 years by the combined forces of the Sendai River carrying San'in sediment and the relentless sea breezes, this natural masterpiece perfectly embodies the magnificent "dynamic aesthetics" of nature. From a geological standpoint, the most breathtaking features are the **"wind ripples"** carved by the breeze and the **"sand pillars"** formed by cascading sand after rain. Scaling the 47-meter-high peak known as the **"Horse's Back,"** you are met with rolling, earthy-yellow hills extending before you, while the deep azure waters of the Sea of Japan stretch out behind. This striking color contrast—the coexistence of a desert-like landscape and the ocean—delivers a visual impact you won't find anywhere else in Japan. Wandering through the dunes, the sand feels exceptionally fine yet remarkably firm beneath your feet. As the light shifts, the dunes transform, revealing mysterious shades ranging from golden yellow to deep brown. Whether you are sandboarding, riding a camel, or simply pausing to listen to the whispers of the sea breeze sweeping over the ridges, the Tottori Sand Dunes are much more than a tourist attraction. It is a living piece of landscape art that leaves you with a profound sense of the Earth's magnificent evolution and our own human insignificance.

I visited "Kaitensushi Hokkaido Ekinan Branch" in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture! 📍 2-45-2 Minamiyoshikata, Tottori City, Tottori 680-0843 It's a hugely popular sushi restaurant in Tottori Prefecture🍣 When I visited on a weekend, people were lining up even before it opened, and there was a waitlist of 40 groups! You can grab a numbered ticket and kill time somewhere else while you wait! My turn came up in less than an hour, and since the dining time is limited to 60 minutes, the table turnover rate is really good👍 I ordered a bunch of things I wanted to try, like the 3-piece shellfish platter and the 3-piece assortment of striped beakfish, sea bass, and yellowtail! The sushi toppings here are amazingly thick and huge, which really impressed me. Highly recommended!!

"Why Tottori Sand Museum Needs to Be on Your Japan 🇯🇵 Bucket List" Think Japan 🇯🇵 is all neon lights 💡 and ancient temples? Think again. I ventured out to Tottori, and I honestly felt like I’d stepped onto another planet. 🪐 If you’re traveling through Japan 🇯🇵, you HAVE to make a detour to the Tottori Sand Museum. Most tourists skip this region, but they are seriously missing out on world-class art 🎨 that literally disappears! Every year, the world's best sand sculptors gather here to create masterpieces that will eventually be returned to the earth 🌎. You’re seeing art that literally won’t exist in a few months and for me that is the sad part! Hidden gem 💎 vibes, because it’s in Tottori, you don’t have to fight the massive crowds of Tokyo or Kyoto. You can actually take your time and get those perfect, unobstructed shots for the 'gram. The museum is right next to the famous Tottori Sand Dunes. You can go from a world-class art gallery to riding a camel 🐫 on a desert dune in 5 minutes! Seriously, if you want to see a side of Japan 🇯🇵 that most foreigners completely overlook, get yourself to Tottori. It’s a bit of a trek, but for the art alone? If you want a break from the usual shopping-focused trips to Japan, consider planning a visit to Tottori Prefecture—it's guaranteed to be a journey full of endless surprises. Located along the coast of the Sea of Japan in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture, the Tottori Sand Dunes are the largest coastal dune system in Japan. Formed over 100,000 years ago, these dunes stretch approximately 16 kilometers from east to west and serve as a major attraction within the Global Geopark. Visitors here can enjoy a leisurely walk across the dunes, try sandboarding, ride camels, or even go paragliding. The surrounding area is well-equipped with amenities, including parking lots, shops, and restaurants. However, due to the constant stream of tourists, you might have to wait for a parking spot during peak hours. Near the entrance, a chairlift offers a convenient ride up the hill to an observation deck and The Sand Museum. The museum features a different theme each year, with exhibitions running from mid-April to early January of the following year, making it a perfect addition to your dune-exploring itinerary. The dunes beautifully showcase the magnificent craftsmanship of nature. From the highest peaks, you can enjoy sweeping views of the ocean, with the landscape transforming beautifully across the four seasons. It's best to set aside at least a full day so you can comfortably travel to and from The Sand Museum and take your time to truly appreciate the surrounding scenery. 🚞 [Transportation] You can take a bus from Tottori Station, or book a Tottori Sand Dunes sightseeing taxi at the Tourist Information Center (4,000 JPY for 3 hours). 💡 [Tips] To avoid itinerary delays caused by traffic congestion, we recommend getting off at the observation deck to begin your tour. If you're looking for an in-depth trip to Japan that blends natural wonders, cultural beliefs, and anime pilgrimages, the San'in region definitely deserves a spot on your bucket list. From grand vistas to intricate details, every stop on this journey is packed with non-stop surprises. The first stop takes us to a rare desert landscape in Japan—the Tottori Sand Dunes. The rolling dunes reveal different patterns as the sea breeze sweeps across them, making you feel like you've been transported to a foreign land. I highly recommend trying camel riding or sandboarding. Overlooking the Sea of Japan from the top, the view is so breathtaking you'll completely lose track of time. Next, step into a world of art and creativity at the Tottori Sand Museum. Every year, massive sand sculptures are crafted based on a different country's theme. The level of intricate detail is truly mind-blowing and will completely flip your perception of "sand." This is an absolute must-visit spot for photography enthusiasts. If you're an anime fan, the Gosho Aoyama Manga Factory will definitely bring out your inner child. The museum showcases the creative process and classic scenes from Detective Conan. From the entrance to the surrounding streets, everything is packed with Conan elements—you won't be able to stop snapping photos and checking in! When it comes to yokai (monster) culture, you can't miss Sakaiminato, the "hometown of Kitaro." This is the birthplace of Shigeru Mizuki, the creator of GeGeGe no Kitaro. The entire Mizuki Shigeru Road is lined with various bronze yokai statues and themed shops. Once illuminated at night, it takes on a magical yet slightly eerie vibe, making you feel as if you've wandered into a spirit realm. Next up is Izumo Taisha, one of Japan's most historic and spiritually powerful shrines. Known as a "place for matchmaking" (enmusubi), many people make special trips here to pray for love, friendship, or career success. The massive shimenawa (sacred straw rope) and solemn atmosphere will naturally calm your mind and let you feel the power of faith. While in Izumo, you absolutely have to try the local specialty—Izumo Soba. Unlike standard soba, Izumo Soba has a richer aroma and is often served in a signature "three-tiered" style. Stacked high and bursting with flavor, it's a simple yet unforgettable local delicacy. Finally, I recommend taking a ride on the nostalgically charming Sunrise Izumo train to put a perfect end to your trip. As the train slowly chugs along and the scenery rolls by outside the window, it adds a touch of romance and a sense of storytelling to the entire journey. This San'in getaway is more than just sightseeing; it's an immersive experience spanning nature, art, culture, and the anime world. Whether it's your first time in Japan or you're a seasoned traveler, you're bound to find a unique kind of inspiration here.

Oenokian Restaurant in Tottori is a unique and delicious spot that you must try at least once in your life. We made it a point to visit Oenokian, a traditional restaurant, for this tasting experience. Let’s take a look! Upon arrival, the restaurant is charmingly decorated like a house, with seating on the second floor. They even provide European-style outfits for photo opportunities. 🩷 “Pink Curry Set” includes a drink (tea/coffee/orange juice). You can add dessert for an additional charge. When served, it’s truly impressive—the color is beautifully sweet and inviting. As for the taste, it’s quite surprising! Despite its sweet pink appearance, the curry isn’t sweet at all. When tasting, you might close your eyes and imagine regular curry, but once it touches your tongue, wow! The flavor and aroma of curry are unmistakable, with a mild spiciness that contrasts with its sweet pink color. Don’t worry about the pink color—it’s made from beetroot mixed with potatoes harvested in Tottori Prefecture. You can only enjoy this sweet pink curry in Tottori, making it a perfect choice for social media enthusiasts. 🤎 “Hamburg Steak Set” also includes a drink (tea/coffee/orange juice), and you can add dessert for an extra charge. After trying it, the taste is delightful and lives up to its reputation as a signature dish. Highly recommended to order this as well. A place I visited for the first time since the wedding👰‍♀️ Ah... my little sister's turn 𐤔 (※Miharu is still unmarried, pressure-sensitive folks please exit now𐤔) Time has passed since then... Our family has grown... Nephews and nieces have blossomed into sports-obsessed teens💥 I thought how wonderful it'd be to revisit our vow-exchange spot with our expanded family💓, so I invited my sister's clan too... but those kids seem busier than me nowadays𐤔 Layering new memories over nostalgic places feels strangely heartwarming☺️ (Though they couldn't make it this time, I've updated the memories for us all🤭) location⧉Primrose Garden - Forest and Water Chapel, Daisen Town, Saihaku District, Tottori Prefecture

The value for money is incredible, with freshly made sushi that tastes amazing 👍 Highly recommend the set of four pieces: salmon roe gunkan, sweet red shrimp, sea bream, and fried shrimp head. All this for just 620 yen—how could you not order it? · It's not far from the station, and you can take a bus or a taxi to get there. While waiting, you can also browse the nearby drugstore, which offers tax-free shopping and cheaper prices. It's a large store and a great way to kill time!
