Tigerair Taiwan offers direct flights to Yonago Airport. From there, you can take a bus or the JR line to Yonago Station, then transfer to the JR San'in Main Line to reach Tottori Station. If you travel by JR, the fare is around 3,500 JPY, and the journey takes at least 2 hours. If you're visiting in the summer, I highly recommend the "Tottori Sakyu (Sand Dunes) Bus"! From July 3 to October 23, 2026, the limited-time "Tottori Sakyu Bus," a 9-seater shared taxi, will be in service. I strongly recommend booking a spot on this ride. The ride costs 4,000 JPY per person and takes about 90 minutes. Solo travelers are totally welcome to book! It costs about the same as the JR train but is far more comfortable, much faster, offers a direct ride from the airport, and even stops at famous Detective Conan attractions along the way. There's honestly no reason not to take it! ▌ From Namba, Osaka to Tottori: A Perfect Combo Trip Tottori pairs perfectly with Osaka for a longer 6 to 7-day trip. You can fly into Osaka and fly out from Tottori (Yonago). Start by exploring Osaka for a few days, then hop on the incredibly cheap 1,000 JPY highway bus from Namba OCAT. To snag this one-way deal, you must board at Namba OCAT. You can reserve your spot online in advance, then pick up your ticket and pay at the station counter. · Namba OCAT Highway Bus: 3 hours, 1,000 JPY · JR Super Hakuto Express: 2.5 hours, 7,500 JPY Given the massive price difference for just an extra 30 minutes of travel, the bus is an absolute steal. The highway bus is super comfy, featuring spacious seats with plenty of legroom and privacy curtains between passengers. Google Maps works flawlessly here, so simply fire up the app for easy navigation. · Local Buses (Numbered Routes) This is your primary mode of transport from Tottori Station to major sights like the Tottori Sand Dunes, The Sand Museum, and the Uradome Coast (Routes 33, 32). Board from the rear door and grab a paper ticket. When exiting from the front door, match your ticket number to the fare display board to pay. You can now use ICOCA (and other nationwide IC transit cards). I visited "Kaitensushi Hokkaido Ekinan Branch" in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture! 📍 2-45-2 Minamiyoshikata, Tottori City, Tottori 680-0843 It's a hugely popular sushi restaurant in Tottori Prefecture🍣 When I visited on a weekend, people were lining up even before it opened, and there was a waitlist of 40 groups! You can grab a numbered ticket and kill time somewhere else while you wait! My turn came up in less than an hour, and since the dining time is limited to 60 minutes, the table turnover rate is really good👍 I ordered a bunch of things I wanted to try, like the 3-piece shellfish platter and the 3-piece assortment of striped beakfish, sea bass, and yellowtail! The sushi toppings here are amazingly thick and huge, which really impressed me. Highly recommended!!

The Sand Museum was closed to set up a new exhibition, so I couldn't visit (･･;) 14. 30 📍Capri coffee beans Enjoyed a rich café latte and chocolate cake. They have tons of books, making it a super cozy spot ◎ 16. 00 📍Borzoirecord A renovated building. Record shop, vintage clothing, furniture, sundries, and toys. It's packed with stylish finds. It gave off a cool vibe similar to Motomachi in Kobe or Horie in Osaka. 17. 30 📍Goen Tottori's famous Horumon Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles with beef offal). #大坂之旅 For this trip, I chose to depart from Osaka and head to Tottori, which is full of natural beauty and delicious food. Early in the morning, I arrived at Namba OCAT and took the express bus to Tottori. According to the latest promotion, foreign travelers can enjoy this journey for only 1,000 yen, which is really a great value! The bus boarding area is at Platform 7 and has convenient business hours. About 3 hours later, I arrived at Tottori Bus Terminal, and my first stop was the famous Tottori Sand Dunes. This stretch of sand dunes is not only spectacular, but also a great place to take photos. Walking on the sand dunes and feeling the sand gently sliding under your feet is really refreshing. The scenery of the sand dunes changes with the sunlight. Whether you are shooting sunrise or sunset, it is an unforgettable moment. Next, I headed to the Tottori Port seafood market, Karo Market. Here gathers fresh seafood just caught from Helu Port. The market is full of fresh fish shops with a wide variety of products, making me want to try all kinds of seafood. At the Karu Market, I particularly recommend the Matsuba crab, which is famous for its delicious meat. Local restaurants offer fresh Matsuba crab dishes, which I feasted on. After visiting the Helu Market, I enjoyed more food at other local restaurants and bought some local specialties as souvenirs. I was really impressed with the seafood and local produce here, definitely worth a try. In the evening, I took the bus back to Osaka, my heart full of fond memories of Tottori. This trip not only allowed me to appreciate the spectacular natural scenery, but also to enjoy the unique local food culture. This one-day trip from Osaka to Tottori was truly an unforgettable experience!
